Zhang Mansion is a peaceful oasis from the hustle and bustle of the ancient village, its decor and furnishing is fitting with the historic setting but with modern, clean and comfortable amenities. Would definitely stay again and would strongly recommend to others! Hotel manager was very communicative, but you need to have WeChat. They can communicate in English by message with you. The rooms were stunning, service was excellent and the communal areas were beautiful and comfortable. Hotel breakfast was freshly made and they were able to accommodate our requests. Some of the rooms require ascending steep stairs, so if you have accessibility needs it would be best to inform the hotel in advance. Bedrooms are comfortable and cosy. The addition of the tea ceremony area is brilliant. The mattresses and bedding were clean and comfortable. Bathrooms were clean with good pressure hot water. The hotel also put us in touch with a honest and reliable driver that we used for transfers from the bullet train station as well as a trip to Huang Shan (yellow mountain).

Breakfast was included but I asked for a cup of coffee and they told me ¥ 28/cup. The whole night there was a beeping sound to spoil the sleep

Overall, I really enjoyed the stay at this hotel. It is very charming, and suits the Hongcun setting so well. The decor is traditional Chinese and so lovely. The staff is wonderful and attentive. The bed is comfortable. The common areas are plentiful. Lovely courtyard outside the room. I am happy with my choice! I would stay here again. The room rate for this hotel is a bit higher than I would expect. Some reasons for this are the pool is not in usable condition, the bathroom is downstairs from the bedroom. The stairs are very steep and a bit precarious to climb and descend. There is no laundry service and not an easy way to do one’s own laundry. All in all I am pleased with my stay at Zhang Mansion.

There are many types of guest rooms with different styles. Almost all of them feature Chinese retro style. The carved wooden beds, wooden couches and dressing tables are all antique designs. The calligraphy, paintings and porcelain in the room highlight the famous Hui school. The door is an antique wooden door latch. key. The facilities in the bathroom are absolutely high-end. Dyson hair dryers and Hermès bath products are both rich in history and considerate. The owner lives with his guests and has four cats, several courtyards, and a beautiful swimming pool. The guests can drink tea and relax while leaning on the garden view. The butler's service was extremely attentive. He asked about the soundproofing at night, prepared a heart-warming breakfast in the morning, took our luggage all the way from the parking lot to the CI, dragged our luggage up the narrow stairs of the old house, and used a small electric donkey to carry our luggage again before we left. Return to the parking lot. I want to say here that the wooden stairs in the old Hui-style houses are narrow and shaky, and the sound insulation between the rooms is not very good. If you come to immerse yourself in the old house life, don’t complain and pay more attention to yourself. In short, this place really made my impression of Hongcun become more beautiful and full of nostalgia. It is undoubtedly the best private hotel in the village, and it feels like a dream that I will never wake up from.

The interior of the guest room is a duplex structure, with a bathroom below and a bedroom and tea room above. The only drawback is that there is a lot of dust in the bedroom, which is also a common problem of old houses. The supplies provided in the guest room are also first-class, with toiletries from Hermes, hair dryers from Dyson, and water from Evian. The last time I stayed in such a hotel was Ritz-Carlton. It is said that there are also regular meals available, all served by local aunts, which should be the meals that locals can make themselves. This time, time is in a hurry, and I must try it next time. Service: Before checking in, arrange for a pick-up uncle, the boss personally picked up the luggage to the hotel to check in, check-in waiting time, and prepared snacks. Prepare to visit the various fruit wines brewed in the lobby, with price tags, which should be sold. It's a pity to drive, otherwise it must be very comfortable to have a few drinks in this small courtyard facing the moonlight.

The luggage is placed under the stairs, which is very narrow and not very convenient. The Deluxe King Room is on the second floor. I upgraded to the third floor. The stairs are too steep and not suitable for older people. It is probably because of the old house. I can only accept its defects. The dining and leisure places are very good.
