A five-star hotel can be remote or old, but its service shouldn't be compromised. My relatives and I came to Xiamen, and they highly recommended this hotel as they had stayed here before. Indeed, the service attitude was excellent, living up to its five-star standard. The hotel food was delicious, and there's a supermarket downstairs with affordable food and drinks, which is very convenient. The only downside is that sometimes it's hard to get a taxi, which can be frustrating! Plus, there's a large, lovely park right next to it.

The room is relatively new, both in terms of decor and furnishings. You need a card to access the lobby elevator, which is very safe. I initially hesitated when I saw the hotel was renovated in 2018, but the result exceeded my expectations. The price is quite good for the price. The room is a bit small, but it has a large balcony. The view from the balcony is a large green space, which is very pleasing to the eye. The shower head has a strong water flow, but the drain is a bit clogged and the water flows slowly, so showering can be a bit soaking. The front desk lady's service is commendable. She always greeted us with a smile, answered every question, and was very friendly. Dining nearby is also quite convenient. Just outside the door are Shaxian snacks and several noodle shops. There's also a Guangdong food stall a few minutes' walk away, which is popular with locals. I stayed an extra night and parked on the roadside nearby for 35 yuan for two nights, which is not bad.

Overall, it was pretty good. The hotel's location is super convenient for getting around. The pier is about 500 meters from the entrance, and it's just a fifteen-minute boat ride to Xiamen No. 1 Pier, making it easy to go anywhere. A concierge even proactively helped us with directions to the pier; he was really enthusiastic 👍. The ferry ticket to Gulangyu Island was only 35 RMB, and the hotel breakfast was decent too. Regarding the upgrade to a deluxe sea-view room (subject to availability on the day): I booked a superior sea-view room, and the front desk upgraded us to a deluxe sea-view family room. For the mini-bar, you need to proactively contact the front desk for refills. Also, for the cute little souvenir doll included in the package, you need to ask the front desk for it. It's a really adorable doll 🥰

Xiamen is fortunate to choose to live in Tongyu Wharf during the New Year. It is very convenient to go to the island and Gulangyu by boat. The front desk service is also very good, very warm! People who come to Xiamen to travel do not have to live on the island or Gulangyu Island. The price of staying here for travel and hotel is quite suitable.
