It was a great experience that I tried hot spring both morning and evening. The people was nice and kind. It was a pity that the out door private hot spring with an out side shower. The fact was you got cold the minute you came out of the hot spring. How can you take shower afterwards? The hotel was high up in the mountains therefore it was snowing and cold. I was disappointed to find that the heating system was just by the air conditioner. It made me so dry.

Very traditional ryoukan with onsen. Good location for when you want to go on hikes. Staff was very friendly.

Hotel Kakujin is located 2/3 behind the Dongcheon Onsen Shopping Street, quite far from the bus stop. It is a hotel in an old building with two double floors of hotel rooms and an independent semi-open hot spring. There are indoor hot springs and restaurants underground, and you have to use stairs to get up and down. The room we stayed in this time was the largest one, and there was also a small staircase in the room. This is not recommended for people who are older and have difficulty moving their feet. Because it was off-season this time, there were only a few shops open in the shopping street, but the hotel itself also had some souvenirs for sale. The hotel staff were very friendly and considerate. Because we were taking the last bus to the hotel, we were pressed for time (dinner). That day one of their female staff drove to meet us. His move helped us greatly. This allows us to save time looking for a hotel and get to the hotel more easily. (This is an additional free service.) Our luggage was also carried to our room by their staff! Their breakfast and dinner are also very rich and delicious, and they were very considerate in providing hot tea and snacks when we came back from going out. For friends who like hiking, I would highly recommend this hotel. It is very convenient to go to scenic spots in the mountains with this hotel.
