Note that while it’s very near to the station, it’s on the other side of the town area so need to walk a distance But bonus is there is in-house onsen (very clean and nice), bath bomb if u wanna stay in your own room, and Happy hours with free flow of drinks and basic rice… love my stay here!!!

Staff was excellent, location was off the beaten path which was good, breakfast was excellent, rooms were good size and the two hot baths were great. Private baths were dinky.

Super cozy hotel with a really comfy Japanese style room. I liked that I had a nice view of the city in the mountains. Staff was nice enough. Great amenities. Enjoyed the in-house onsen with indoor and outdoor tubs and a cold plunge. I The only negative I experienced was after a late night bath for about an hour was the sink and make up area floor was full of hair. . Long, dark hair from the blow drying was all over the floor. No one had checked the facility in the hour plus that I was there. to clean it in the hour that I was there.

A new hotel just built in front of Takayama station. It is a stay type hotel, but artists are decorated everywhere and fashionable. This time, Superior twin. The room itself is not particularly characteristic, but there is a sofa on the window side and it can be relaxed. This sofa is a bed, so you can stay for three people. Electric pots, empty refrigerators, washing dryers, microwave ovens, etc. are also complete. Recommended for long stay. The bathroom is small in the unit. Especially the toilet is small. There is a comfortable public bath, so I wanted to relax the toilet part only by shower. Amenities are only toothbrushes, and amenities are available on the first floor. Shaving, brush, tea bags such as tea and green tea, cosmetics, cotton swabs, cotton, etc. The public bath is also fashionable with designer specifications. There is also an open-air bath. You can enjoy two different design hot springs in the men and women replacement system. The atmosphere is like a public bath in a luxury inn. It doesn't seem to be in front of the station. There are also view lounges and foot baths on the top floor. Convenient location and recommended for sightseeing and business. The staff has a level difference depending on the person. Extremely well located if you want to be right next to the train station and bus station - my room overlooked the tracks. Provision of washing machine and dryer is a superb bonus inroom as are the full cooking facilities. The hotel intelligently provides basics such as oil, salt, coffee, tea and even a couple of detergent sachets for the washing. Strangelt though, no knives or other cutting implements of any kind. A tip if you intent to cook. The Family Mart opposite is basic, but there is a huge supermarket under the tracks and just beyond MacDonalds where you can get international food as well as Japanese. Slightly dreary corridors and a reception crowded with people waiting for their room to become available. But on the plus side they let me into my room early as I was unwell at the time.

I can't comment on value as this was part of a cycle tour with my bike club (BAC) and Cycling Japan, but my room was really lovely and quiet with a great view. I loved the comfy bed and ergonomic desk chair. The onsen was on the top floor and really lovely with inside and outside pools. The staff was super helpful (the manager helped me find and reserve a wonderful dinner choice - Bistro Kanzo) and breakfast was also really good with local items (not your too-often too many overcooked and deep-fried items). Also, a perfect location for exploring Takayama. This is my 4th trip to Japan and I have stayed in so many accommodations on cycling and hiking tours, so I do have some context. For me, Alpina checked all of the boxes: room, view, staff, breakfast, onsen, location.

The atmosphere of the inn was very good, but to get to the room, I had to change elevators twice, walk a long corridor, and finally take the stairs to the upper floor. It is necessary to walk in the opposite direction each time to go to the public bath and to eat. It is difficult for the elderly and those with weak legs. We used the early bird reservation and national travel support to stay cheaper than usual, so I wondered if it was the furthest room (laughs). I couldn't take a long bath slowly, but the person in charge was just checking the temperature, so when I asked, the open-air bath was 42.9 degrees. A small child with a family shouted ”hot, hot” and left early. After all, I only entered the large public bath once, and after that, I adjusted the temperature of the bath in the room. One more thing, all three hair dryers in the public bath did not work even when I pressed the button, so I used the one in the room. When I asked my wife, she said, ``I couldn't use it at first, but someone else told me to use it by pressing the other switch at the back.'' I couldn't use it, maybe it's my fault, I wanted you to write a manual (sorry if I overlooked it)

Went with my mom for a one night stay. Had a wonderful experience and thoroughly enjoyed all the complimentary amenities and refreshments. The staff were warm, thoughtful and polite, and explained everything in excellent English. Will definitely recommend you to check this place out. Its pretty easy to find from the jr line.

It's my first time at a ryokan, and it's quiet like a hanok... The museum-like interior and breakfast tastes great... More than anything, there's a morning market 10 minutes away on foot, and what's called Little Kyoto??? It's there... and the bus terminal to Shirakawa is close...

We were lucky to stay at Mercure Takayami on their opening night. Everything about the hotel was above our expectations. Rooms were a very comfortable with attention to detail. Having USB and USB C charging ports for our electronics next to the bed was very convenient and meant we didn't need to search for our Japan power adaptors. This hotel has been well designed with a focus on local traditional carpentry and joinery skills. When you book this hotel make sure you book a room that includes access to the private Onsen. We had an open-air experience while we watched the snow from our private onsen. Breakfast had an extensive range of Tradition Hida dishes and Western choices, with different options available each day. This was a great way to try Hida Beef Curry and Hida chicken cooked on a traditional grill. Staff were very helpful going above and beyond with their dedicated and personal service, even searching the internet for me to find a store that sold Yama Cola. We will be back to stay again and will try to stay longer next time.
