Guest UserI stayed at the hotel from 29 May 2026 to 7 Jun 2026. Except for an unpleasant encounter with the gym staff who tailed me from the gym to the sauna/changing area on 1 Jun,
I was always greeted with a bright smile and respect from the moment I set foot at the front entrance until I entered my room. I would particularly like to commend the doormen Ilayarajah, Yuvi and Loganathan, the catering team John and his team members Subbu, Suresh, Siva and Vinoth as well as Venkat and his concierge team.
Regarding the gym incident, I was visiting birding sites for my Chennai trip so had to carry a big backpack for my Sony camera and sufficient water supply for the very warm weather.
On the above-mentioned day, I had returned a little earlier in the evening and headed straight to the gym in my birding gear. I was annoyed when the gym staff tailed me to the sauna area and left to tell the Guest Relations Staff at the Lobby.

We congratulate Leela for having such brilliant staff! That's what makes the hotel stands out from other high end competitors. Even though the hotel was fully booked and very busy at the time, we were warmly welcomed from the moment we stepped down from the car. The gentleman who checked us in, Mr. Shantanu, Ms. Supra at Concierge, Nayansi, the manager at the India Restaurant... and many more whose name we were unable to remember, made us feel like some sort of noble or important persons, and all that was done from the bottom of their heart with genuine warmness...we use to stay at Peninsular, Four Seasons, Aman and the like when we went on holidays. They are not available in Chennai but we must say Leela offers even better services than our usual choices. The hotel itself is very well-maintained and classy. The pool is resort-feel even though it is in the city. The free spa facilities are very generous with many indoor jacuzzi, suana and herbal steam. We are very impressed. Thank you for ending our Easter holidays in South India perfectly!!

T.jayaletchmiIt's not that great. They need lots of improvement in service and the rooms need some renovation as the wardrobes n carpets look old. it will also be better if they use some room freshener or candles with fragrance as the room doesn't have a pleasant smell. Overrall, it's not that great for a premium hotel.

Guest UserThe food is good for a 3 star hotel but it is not at all at the level of a 5 star hotel.
The staff was excellent - especially Sneha M. who helps guests at the lobby and offers quick and effective solutions and also another Sneha who works at the restaurant.
The music 🎶 in the restaurant is the worst I heard in any hotel in India.
It is two types of music (classical Indian and also western) which are played at the same time!
It is ridiculous and annoying and it is also too loud which is why some of the staff look miserable.
The chef was walking around the dining room exchanging pleasantries with guests but he should be on the kitchen controlling what goes on there.
The ”chai masala” had no taste of ginger and the milk was so burned that it kept steaming for a whole hour (it was undrinkable so I returned it).
.
The rooms are what you expect to find in a hotel that was considered luxurious in the 1990's.
Unfortunately, the air conditioning system is still the original one and it can no longer be set (it can only be switched on or off).

My stay began on a disappointing note. I arrived at the lobby on a Sunday afternoon and waited nearly 40 minutes before anyone attended to me. Although I was clearly in line, a couple of other guests approached the desk and were assisted before me. I expected the concierge or front-desk staff to notice the situation and assist guests in the order they arrived, but unfortunately, that did not happen.
Once I was finally checked in, I was assigned a room on the fourth floor. The room itself was acceptable. I generally do not have particularly high expectations regarding hotel-room ambience, as I find that it often does not vary significantly across hotels, regardless of their star rating.
What I found especially unreasonable was the hotel’s pricing. Items available in the room, such as a Snickers bar priced at ₹155 and a packet of Lay’s priced at ₹55, ***** with peanuts and carbonated drinks, were listed at several times their normal retail prices. The markup was so excessive that it made me wonder whether the hotel actually wanted guests to consume these items or was simply trying to impose an unnecessary and inflated expense.
The same applied to transportation. The hotel quoted ₹1,800 plus taxes for a sedan to the airport. I booked an Uber for the exact same journey for ₹699. Charging well over twice the market price—and then adding taxes on top of it—is frankly absurd. Hotel convenience may reasonably come at a premium, but this felt less like a premium service and more like an attempt to take advantage of guests.
The complimentary breakfast, however, offered a wide variety of options and was probably the most redeeming part of the stay.

Guest UserThis hotel scores highly on airport proximity and overall value for money. While the interior and facilities are a bit dated, it's thankfully clean with no noticeable odors. Airplane noise from takeoffs and landings isn't an issue, ensuring a good night's sleep. It's a great choice for transit passengers looking for a budget-friendly option.

钟The hotel is in a good location, close to the airport, just a few minutes, convenient to transfer, and generally cost-effective. If you come to Chennai in the future, you will still stay here.

The hotel is an excellent one. Only downside we found is that the swimming pool was a tad small. We were well taken care of. Look forward to staying there again.
