Iberostar Waves Club Cala Barca
4.1/555 Reviews
My family of 4 (children aged 3 & 8months) have just arrived home from a week all inclusive at IWCB- The resort itself is large with plenty to do- everything is located fairly close to the centre (apart from the outer apartments) we were in block 55 and our balcony faced towards the shops which was handy. The grounds itself have a few paths for walks if you need a quiet break during the day which worked well for our 8mo naps. As I mentioned before we stayed in block 55- our room was a family room & we upgraded to have a separate double bedroom. The rooms were clean and spacious and the en-suite was a walk in shower which suited us fine. The beds were comfortable as were the pillows. Fresh towels changed daily & you can rent the hotel towels for the pools/beach. There was a travel cot in our room which didn’t look the cleanest so I’m glad we bought our own from home. We also took car seats for the taxis etc as non of the taxis provided them- again I’m glad we did. We found the food extremely disappointing and only found the food edible at the Mexican themed restaurant which is a shame considering we came for Mediterranean food. The main restaurant buffet seemed to be the same food selection every night which got boring quickly but the food itself was mediocre at best- there were always flies around the food especially the bread and cheese area which really put us off. I know the hotel staff can’t control the flies however the food wasn’t replaced it would just be sat there. I can’t comment on the beach restaurant as we couldn’t get a reservation so we couldn’t attend. We were lucky there was a shop right by us as our ASD toddler wouldn’t have eaten. The pools were great. Two kids pools which my toddler loved & a semi-deep pool that overlooked the sea. We spent most of our time there as it was right by the food trucks/help yourself bar. At around 3pm everyday they’d do some kind of activity in the pool and my 3 year old ran on the water carpet which was a highlight of our trip. The staff who attended to the games were always extremely friendly and helpful. I can’t comment on the entertainment at nighttime as it was too loud/overwhelming for our toddler so we were in the room from 6pm which was fine as there was a TV etc. I would bare that in mind if your child is SEND as it does get very loud/crowded and I did find some of the guests quite ignorant when our child was having a meltdown. We got a bit of cabin fever near the end of the trip so on our last day we hired a car from the hotel which was €130 & we travelled to Palma which was amazing. I’d highly recommend doing this! Overall- we did enjoy the holiday it was lovely to be in the sun & pool and the rooms were lovely and clean. I would say that the meal times should be earlier to accommodate babies & children and more of a rotation/variety. I would recommend this hotel if you’re not a foodie / have children who just want to be poolside all day. I wouldn’t recommend for couples.
