Hotel Alpha

Hotel Alpha served as a comfortable homebase for excursions to the historical sites in the area, with pleasant gardens surrounding the buildings. Nearby the Sant'Agnello train station, it was easy to get to Pompeii, Herculaneum and others along the line between Sorrento and Naples. Though the journey to Naples itself is an over an hour on the train, so perhaps not the best location if you plan regular visits to the city. It is also close to various local stores, cafés and restaurants. The hotel experience itself was good for the most part, though we only really spent out early mornings and evenings here. The staff were friendly, polite and helpful. The buffet style breakfast offered a good choice. The evening meals had its high and low points, overall was good with daily menus that offered a lot of options. Some of the evenings was also accompanied with live music which added to pleasant atmosphere. The Gala dinner on Saturday evening was notable, with beautiful piano and a theatricality to the night. The rooms were comfortable and air-conditioning with a daily cleaning service. The balconies were spacious though the view varied by floor (I was on the first floor and it was not a particularly good view). The only faults i could mention from my one week stay was the bar, which while extensive in it's selection, I did find a bit overpriced. Additionally, there was no option to pay for drinks as we ordered and could only be put on the rooms tab, though that last point is minor. I also felt that the hotel, while very nice for the most part, did feel shabby in some areas. I felt this most prominently in the dining area, where the floors on some mornings did not look particularly clean from the previous evening and on one morning we had ants around our table. I must preface however that while this sounds bad, it was only a single instance of such severity.

Let me start by saying that the hotel staff, in the main, were very nice.Unfortunately, however this hotel does not meet the description and bears no resemblance to the now dated photos shown in the adverts. It is not a ”resort” hotel for beach /sun loving holiday makers, more a drop-in overnighter for students and folks on tour. The hotel is down a small side street off the very busy main road and is located in a residential and commercial area.We were picked up from the drop off point by an older gent in his decrepit works van, which raised immediate red flags. The van, with its one working door, then dropped us at what I thought was the back-door but turned out to be the main entrance to the hotel. The van was parked there most days, not really a welcoming sight. The room was a decent size however the bathroom was smaller than our wardrobes at home. The wife and myself are not big people but it was a struggle getting into the shower cubicle and manouvering around in it. No room for shelves for your shampoos, soaps etc so it all went on the shower floor meaning you had to carefully bend down without bumping the lever and switching the shower off. There was a kettle but no welcoming tea or coffee, and you cannot get towels for the pool or beach. The ”double” bed was 2 singles pushed together. The wall-paper was coming away from the wall at points, and one of the lamps was held together with masking tape. Also,be aware..... you can hear everything, and I mean everything, from the neighbouring rooms. The bar was in the main entrance area and was rarely manned and very sterile, no music, TV's switched off (there were no English speaking channels anyway) and not somewhere you could get a cold beer ar a sandwhich on a whim. The restuarant is below ground level and has no windows, not much chance of a romatic dinner overlooking the ocean or a beautiful garden I'm afraid. As with the bar, there is no music, but you do get paper table clothes, s&p in sachets, not shakers, and the food is re-heated for you as you have to order at breakfast to let them prepare it. Nothing is cooked to order, there are no fresh vegetables, you mainly get lettuce with everything. The breakfast selection is sparce. No bacon, sausages, beans, tomatoes, hash browns, fresh yoghurts (there are supermarket carton ones). The staple appears to be boiled potatoes diced up with some tinned mini-hot-dogs! There are no bar-snacks of any kind on offer between breakfast and dinner, nothing that would help you enjoy your experience. The pool area is small, no room for loungers only deck chairs, and the rooftop terrace with views of the surrounding tenaments on 3 sides is the only other option. Neither area is manned, so if you want a cool drink, snack or ice-cream, forget it. There are no parasols or waste bins anywhere, and the whirlpools are filthy. The beach is a good 30 minute walk, and the main road is only 50 yards from the front door so be careful. The traffic is horrendous, there are no c

We returned to this wonderful hotel in September - all the staff were incredibly welcoming as always. I managed to leave the key to my suitcase lock at home, reception immediately arranged for a very helpful man to force the lock. Everyone was so helpful throughout our stay. Our room was immaculate and very comfortable- a complimentary fruit basket was kindly given. View from the balcony of Vesuvius. Complimentary tea and coffee was replenished daily. Toiletries were good quality too. Breakfast was delicious and varied as was the evening meal, waiter service is professional and friendly. Angelo, Pepe and Antonio are the stars . Special mention to Max in the bar too. Convenient location near Sorrento with free mini bus every hour morning and evening except afternoons. Lots to do if you want - Pompeii, Capri etc or relax by the pool with drinks brought to you. My only suggestion is a couple more English channels on the television would be nice. This hotel is managed with great attention to detail, thank you for your hospitality and kindness. We look forward to the opportunity of returning.
Grand Hotel Parco del Sole - All Inclusive

We (2 adults & 2 children) travelled to this hotel as part of an all inclusive holiday package in October. First impressions was good when we entered the hotel however that changed once we checked into our room. Room Our room was located on the 3rd floor. There was stairs and a lift. The hallway leading to the rooms was very dated, tired carpets etc. Initial feeling on the room was disapointing. The room was very dated. We had 2 single beds pushed together into a double which wasnt ideal for couples. The pillows were all stained. We had clean bathmat/towels put in our room which has dried in food/stains on them. The wardrobe was old and the sliding doors was stiff to operate. The electric wall sockets were dated and some of our power adapters wouldnt fit to charge our phones. Thankfully my husband took a extention cable and small adapter so we could charge our phones. The TV was small and dated, no coffee/tea facilities or kettle in the room. The bathroom looked like it had been updated recently however there was mould around the windows. We couldnt open the window to let steam out as the window was stuck shut. We also had ants in the bathroom. The ants were crawling up the walls and on the floor. The view wasnt great, looked on to trees, no balcony. Food The breakfast wasnt the greatest. It was the same every morning. No change at all. Loads of pastries left out which the flies loved. For the last few days we didnt even bother going for breakfast it was that bland. The lunch and evening meals was ok with plenty of variety however the food was often cold. There was not many snacks available during the day. There was some trays left out (assuming left over lunch/[pastries) but they werent covered up so they were crawling with flies/mosquitos. The all inclusive bar choice was ok but there was no branded alcoholic drinks except the Peroni beer on tap. The soft drinks were questionnable. The coca cola being poured from the bottle didnt taste like coca cola and tasted like cheap cola. Entertainment This was probably the most disapointing aspect of the hotel. There was no entertainment for kids at all except the pool. No games, fun nights etc. I felt for those couples/families there with young children as they must of been so bored. For the week we were there, the hotel had a lady play music, another night a man was singing and playing music on a keyboard and then they had some italian dancers. That was it. Some nights you were sat in the cold seating area with nothing to do. We ended up going out to buy some cards just for something to do. Only positives I could find for this hotel was it's location and staff. Not far from the train station and into the town centre of Sorrento. The staff were friendly and helpful. We have stayed in many 4 star resorts over the years and this is definately not a 4 star by any means. I believe this would have been back in its day (1970's) but not today. My daughter also came back with Glandular fe
Hotel Isabella Sorrento

I recently had a wonderful stay at the Hotel Isabella in Sorrento. The hotel was clean throughout, including the communal areas, and the rooms were modern and well appointed with A/C, safe, mini fridge, and balcony. The restaurant had a selection of good quality food for breakfast and lunch. Most importantly, the staff couldn’t do enough for us and were always friendly and ready to help. I would highly recommend a stay at the Hotel Isabella if you’re visiting Sorrento.
