The hotel is strategically located next to the ancient city gate. It is very close to the bus station in the city or to Mont Saint-Michel. There is a Carrefour supermarket 3 minutes away. The hotel front desk waiter is enthusiastic and patiently solves the problems raised by the guests. It feels like home. Although the hotel public area is old, the facilities in the room are good. The hotel charges are reasonable. It is not recommended to eat breakfast in the hotel. The variety is single, and the coffee is capsule coffee. I can't imagine that this is in France. Overall, the hotel is very cost-effective!

A magnificent castle within a castle. A hotel full of character. The Michelin star restaurant was amazing and the service made me feel completely comfortable. The breakfast had a lot of choice and it was all great.

The room is overall clean and the design is very atmospheric. The location is close to the sea. I can see the sea from my window, but it is far from the station. It is inconvenient for me with a suitcase

Positives: Really well situated in between plage de bon secours and plage de l'eventail. Everything intra-muros is within maximum a 5-10mn walk. The room we were in (419) had really awesome sea views, and seemed to have been recently refurbished. Good amenities in terms of coffee machine, working fridge, hot plates (we didn't use). Super clean bathrooms, and generally spotless. Mattress and pillows were comfortable. Free wifi (but don't hold your breath on the speed, ok for messaging, email, social media, but that's about it) Not so Great: The noise. The sea facing rooms lead on to a parking lot where there is a trash compactor and a bottle recycling container. Normally, it should not be allowed to deposit trash or bottles after 10pm as this causes a lot of noise. Unfortunately, it seems that a lot of the restaurants nearby and other residents are dumping trash into the compactor and glass bottles in the bins at all hours, even after midnight. In the morning around 7am, a truck comes in to empty the containers which makes a ton of noise. Given that there is no air conditioning, it is normal to sleep with the windows open, but this will make it very difficult for you to sleep at night. This is not the hotel's fault, per se, but be advised that if you're a light sleeper, maybe go for a room that is not sea facing, or choose a hotel that's further into the town or away from a container nexus point. The towels we had were clean, but were in quite a sorry state, with a lot of loose threads and falling apart. I found it ironic that they would charge 30-40 euros for these towels should they go missing as it seems that they have seen better days (see photos). Also, our bed sheet cover had tears in it. Again the everything was clean, but there was clearly some wear and tear that you wouldn't expect for the rate. Finally, our room didn't have bed side tables, which I think is a bit strange. I have a CPAP machine for my sleep apnea which I don't want to put on the floor for obvious reasons, but was able to move the coffee table to use it as a side table, but my fiancée had to put her glasses, water and book on the floor. Easy fix, but weird nonetheless. We checked with my in laws who had a different room, and they did have the side tables, so I guess it depends on the kind of room you get, but good to be aware of this in case this kind of thing is important to you. We didn't try the breakfast, but peeked in to see what it was / on the day, the coffee machine wasn't working, but it had basic continental fare. I would recommend skipping the breakfast option and going to Bougeotte down the street about a 5mn walk for a fabulous breakfast! Conclusion: Ok experience, clean, central, but the noise levels were really frustrating, and a couple of things just got in the way of me giving this more than a 3/5 rating.

This hotel is pretty rundown. The sheet/duvet cover had holes in it, the bathroom towels were threadbare and frayed. The hallway carpet was incredibly stained and looked dirty. They apparently use part of the lobby for storage. The floor of my room had sand on it when I arrived, which was never cleaned up during my seven day stay (nor was my bed linen ever changed). Twice the housekeeping staff didn’t pull my door fully closed upon leaving so it was open when I came back! On the positive side, the staff were very friendly and they do a very nice breakfast in the mornings. And it’s very conveniently located to the old town.

A dark and gloomy parking garage for four cars. The receptionist showed us the car parking space and then disappeared leaving us to ring reception on our own with all our luggage in tow.. Not good customer service.

We stayed at this hotel for three nights, and it was not a very pleasant stay room-wise. The room was very dirty and there were black mold all over the bathroom. The hallway also smells like mold, and I feel like you could get sick from staying there for too long. The description says that the rooms have air condition, but for us (and the couple we were traveling with), that’s an overstatement. Nothing happened when we turned it on other than a small sound. It might have worked sometime in the past, but not anymore. On the good side, it has a central location and friendly staff in the reception. But this hotel is in a desperate need of a deep renovation.

This hotel is located within the walls of the old Saint-Malo. It is very difficult to find - one easily gets lost in the many crowded and one-way streets of the old city. The parking is very limited and difficult to enter. The rooms are small even by French standards and have an unpleasant odour. The only partially-compensating fact is that the clerks were consistently helpful in helping us deal with the problems we faced.

Stayed overnight in transit from Mont Saint-Michel to Guernsey. The hotel is very well located to visit the old walled city, reasonably priced and is on a very quiet street. The room was very clean, the bed comfortable and the staff at the front desk super helpful. Highly recommend staying here! I see the other reviews about the flooring in the rooms - I see no issues with the flooring they have chosen, I would think a lot of people given the location would swim during the summer and walk on the beaches in the sand and this means this flooring would be much better suited to that kind of foot traffic than other kinds - in other words, dont let it deter you from staying here.

I’ve stayed here many times and will continue to. On this occasion, a late notice additional charge (for access before 3pm) spoiled the value.

My partner and I stayed for a night. Staff friendly, check in quick. Parking next to hotel. Room small but clean and comfortable. Bathroom was spotless clean. Great location. It’s says it’s noisy next to the Irish bar, this did not cause us a problem. Heard nothing. Will recommend.
