It is a place close to the ski resort and a romantic place for couples. The view from the top of the mountain is beautiful. The accommodation is clean and warm.

overall: Definitely the best accommodation in Saariselkä Geographically located at almost the highest point We saw the unforgettable Aurora on the first night we stayed 😭🥺 And it’s really obvious! ! ! ! The hotel does not have much unnecessary light pollution It’s just perfect for taking aurora photos with clear faces. The room type we booked is a cabin in the building. Highly recommend everyone to book this room type The design of the building within the building is really comfortable. There is also extra space for luggage, so it won’t be too crowded. Large floor-to-ceiling windows allow you to easily see the entire snow scene There is also a balcony where you can go out There are also plastic snowboards to play with outside the door of the room. Everyone has a smile from the time they check in at the front desk The service attitude is super good! After staying two nights we decided to book another night This time I stayed in a glass house It’s amazing though! But I would recommend the cabin more Oh, there’s more! Be sure to try their sauna Super big, super comfortable and very reasonably priced transportation: I think it is more comfortable to drive by yourself if you come to Saariselkä. Although the ski resort, the entire town and the entire hotel are not far from each other, driving will make traveling much more convenient. It will not be difficult to drive on the way up, and you will see awesome scenery. The view, overall very convenient. Breakfast: Sufficient portions, all you can eat salmon and various fish, together with beautiful views, the overall experience is very good Dinner: The hotel provides dinner at the same place in the evening. I personally think it is worth a try. In addition to the atmosphere, the food is also very delicious! It is recommended to dine at sunset, everything is beautiful!

Beautiful environment and complete facilities.

The room is clean and tidy. It is a small duplex. You can open the window and go out to the small balcony to enjoy the natural scenery and the Aurora. There were reindeer walking early in the morning. The restaurant in the hotel is also good, the scenery is very good, but there is very little food. Reindeer steak is the main food, but the taste is unacceptable to most people. There are few places to eat, drink and play nearby.

The room is clean and big

The hotel knew that we had to catch a flight early in the morning, so they specially prepared sandwiches and drinks for us, which was very considerate.

We recently visited Star Arctic Hotel in the hope of seeing the Northern Lights. We chose March having done all the research on likelihood of seeing and being at the peak of the cycle. Despite this and despite the night before our arrival being described as the best of the season, a 2 hour green and pink display lighting up the sky, we didn’t see any despite our best efforts and aurora hunting trips. Whilst we didn’t achieve what we set out to achieve, it’s a game of luck and this hotel, the staff and the excursions still made this an amazing trip. We stayed in the entry level room as we booked only 4 months out and other options were fully booked. Our room was on two floors - the entrance level where we had a bathroom little living space with a sofa bed & the mezzanine level where our bed was. We had ALOT of stuff which at times made it quite difficult but we made it work. If you’re staying for a long time, or more than 2 people definitely get the bigger rooms if you can. The reception desk works 24/7, there is also an excursions desk who are willing to give advice and move things around to accommodate your plans and weather etc… When staying at Star Arctic you get overalls, boots, gloves and thick socks - they are the warmest stuff I’ve ever worn. You definitely don’t have to worry about getting cold. We wore one or two thermal layers underneath and that was plenty. On some excursions like snowmobiling you get balaclavas too (plus helmet with a visor.) We did husky ride, snowmobiling and aurora hunting with the hotel. At the top of where the hotel is is a ski resort, we also went skiing and toboganning which was great fun. If you’re an advanced skier (mountain not cross country) then you won’t be challenged by the runs but for me it was enjoyable and I had a ski lesson too. The hotel has a great restaurant, breakfast gets a little samey after about 2 days and my coffee isn’t great but the dinner was amazing. We ate here 2 nights, repeating some of the dishes as they were so good the first time. The staff were super helpful and accommodating e.g we didn’t have the pre-arranged set menu but it had a chocolate fondant dessert that wasn’t on a la carte, one of the waiters got the chef to make us one and gave us a great price for doing so. They were also super honest with their recommendations on food and drink, not only here but elsewhere in Saariselka. A trip like this does come at a cost and we didn’t go in peak season, it’s mainly the experienced and dinner but this isn’t a hotel thing, this is a Lapland thing so you’ll experience this anywhere. For us, Star Arctic is worth the money. We would definitely stay here and recommend it to others, it’s remote enough but also close enough to get into the town, lots to do and great experiences.

Stayed for 5D4N, half in the Aurora Glass Cabin and half in the Scenic Suite with Sauna. We managed to catch the northern lights on one of the nights in the glass cabin, but the other nights were unfortunately cloudy :( We did 2 activities with the hotel — 3.5h husky experience and reindeer feeding & herding, and also had one dinner at Restaurant Kanis. What we loved: - Winter gear (overalls, gloves, shoes etc) is provided, with many sizes available. Toboggans are also available for free. - Service was good, with 24h reception. - Tour experiences were well done, with local partners who were passionate and helpful. We particularly enjoyed the reindeer experience! - Proximity to ski lift and toboggan run. - Rooms were clean and well-maintained. Heating/drying cabinet in the suite was very useful. What could be improved: - Location is rather inconvenient if you don’t drive. The ski bus only comes up a few times a day and not at all in the night, so it’s tough to have dinner in the town center. It would be great if the hotel could provide its own shuttle for guests. - No proper aurora alarm system. - Breakfast was 99% exactly the same every day. Although the food was pretty good, it gets a bit boring if you’re staying for many days. - It would be good to have fans available, as it got a bit stuffy in the rooms.

Amazing !!! How come the grade 4 , for this terrible Hotel ?! This is the last place I wanna be in life. All is terrible … alll…. How to type more about this ?! Everything I should say makes this place worst . How can they deceive other customers if I tell all true ?

We had phoned ahead to be sure that dogs would be welcome in the reception/bar area and walked up several times with our dogs whilst staying nearby. We were warmly welcomed each time and enjoyed many a “Hot Chocolate” and a warm by the lovely fire. Big “Kiitos” to Julia, Mitali and Elisa

The attention given by Charlotte and Niina at Reception; Cass and Julia the event booking team; Racine and Kalle, and one other driver; and Maria the waitress in the restaurant was marvellous, each and every one of them went above and beyond to ensure our four day stay was amazing. The room was spotless and very warm with great views, especially the morning sunrise. The food for breakfast, lunch and dinner was delicious with lots of choice. Meals when out on excursions tended to be freshly made home-made soup and bread, salads, and cake with custard. Every excursion was fabulous, exciting and thrilling. From seeing the Northern Lights to Raindeer Hurding, Snowmobiling at night-time and Husky trail riding all in small groups with individual attention; definitely a holiday to make memories. We loved this hotel, it is utterly beautiful! The room we had was quite small for a family of four but very cosy (especially the little room upstairs), warm and spotlessly clean. Views are amazing. Staff were very helpful. Only negative if taking small children is the phenomenally steep stairs/ladder to the upper floor.

Perfect location to see the Aurora, excellent food & all the activities you could ever want. The staff were incredibly diligent especially since we had a few serious food allergies. Husky sledging & reindeer feeding a highlight. Definitely recommend.
