It is an old hotel but everything is fine. The receptionists were kind and friendly.

The hotel is near good establishments esp the Univ of Reading. It is just by the roadside and parking spaces are available. The noise was quite disturbing because our room was near to a partition door. Breakfast was decent.

Really loved everything about this hotel - from my stay to the food and it’s location close to the city centre. Will definitely choose to stay here every time I visit Reading! Staff is really friendly and helpful as well - they knock on the door every morning the room!

Very Good

The location is good, the accommodation is average and dark, and there is a height difference in the aisles. Be careful when carrying heavy luggage. Fortunately, the staff are helpful when checking in, but you have to rely on yourself when leaving.

It is close to the city center and there are buses, but there is no toothpaste, toothbrush, slippers, or refrigerator. Around 0930-1000 in the morning, there will be a doorkeeper who will open the door, and there will be no “Don’t disturb” Notice hanging outside the door for you. The service attitude of the front desk staff is very good, and other customers are very nice!

Bed ok, bathroom disgusting, staff nice but the housekeeping crew have no respect of privacy when are in your room even if tell them to come back later. Overall good spot for easy commute near bus stop, pub and local shops. Good for short stay.

Stayed here during reading festival. Staff are really friendly and helpful but the hotel is dirty. There is mould and damp everywhere and there were fleas in our room. A shame but doable for one night - much needed upgrade and TLC needed. Reviews are true...

i stayed here for reading festival with my partner and friend and we are all young women so i was a little scared after reading the reviews and seeing that peoples doors were being knocked on etc. but we were safe and we kept the door locked and heard nothing at the door and the staff were super friendly and lovely. the room wasn’t super clean it looked like the bed was just changed and had a quick hoover but we didn’t really mind it was a bed to sleep in at the end of the day. the water in the shower was a bit odd to get to a decent temperature but it was warm which is good. we wouldn’t personally stay here again but it was decent enough for the festival other than it is quite far but we managed to get taxis, hope this helps ❤️

Unfortunately I’ve reported the establishment to Trading Standards. I was polite enough to give the hotel feedback but I’m not convinced that the member of staff reported to was receptive to taking it. On the positive, the bed sheets and towels were clean and the mattress was comfortable. There was heating in the evening and hot water too. However, the standard of cleanliness and the safety of the services in the room were below par. Lots of smears and stains, cracks in the walls, a broken and permanently open window, broken plasterwork, exposed cabling, a thick grey layer of dust on carpeting, lighting and heater. I would not feel comfortable as a female staying here, given that the centre of the hotel operates as a cheap bar. I feel that if all the staff chipped in and took responsibility for the cleanliness of the establishment, (not relying solely on the cleaning lady) it would be a good starting place. I think the hotel is a lot of potential to improve but there needs to be a desire from operating members to do so.

This is the worst hotel I have ever stayed in. I only chose this place as it was close to where I needed to be for 2 nights. Grotty, grubby and shabby is being too polite. The cleaning standards are dire. The toilet wasn’t even cleaned from previous guests and I couldn’t even touch the bathroom and bedside light pulls without using a tissue. It doesn’t need a refurbishment, it needs demolishing.

I booked here for one night as was on site 20 mins down the road. I found the room to be basic, but everything I needed. I booked the En Suite Double Room as I didn't want to share a bathroom and didn't want to sleep on a single bed. It came with a little flat screen tv, a desk, a bed and 2 side drawers along with a little storage to hang up clothes and put the suitcase. The tap was missing the top cover for the cold tap, but it worked fine as did the hot water. I also found the room to be clean and the staff to be friendly. I paid extra to have the breakfast which came as 5 different options (I had the poached egg, sausage, bacon and mushrooms and 2 slices of toast) which was fine and couldn't complain. I feel like people are expecting the ritz accomodation for a low price? I knew what I was booking when I booked at £70, it did it's job and had no issues

I arrived at this hotel and went to reception. To say it was like on these films where you go to that sort of hotel where the receptionist is a guy in a string vest with a fag in his mouth would not be an exaggeration. I was given the key and went to the room. The smell was the first thing that gets you. When I went in the room it was like walking back to the 60s. Furniture looking like it came from the cheap sofa shop. Decor was old and in need of gutting and starting again. The shower was looking like you would come out dirtier than you went in. And to find black mould on the windows shows what a health hazard this so called 3 star hotel is. I will be reporting this place to the HSE and also to the local council. I took photos etc and left. When I told the guy at reception I was checking out, he asked why? To which I replied, I can't stay here its not safe. He looked astounded. I booked into the Penta Hotel in Reading. A proper hotel that looks after its customers.

Clean room and bathroom. Comfortable bed. The room had a desk, TV and tea / coffee. The rate also included a cooked breakfast. It is within 3 minutes walk of a co-op and pub. Loads of off road parking - large parking area out the back.
