Spa Hotels in Playa del Ingles

I have stayed at the AxelBeach numerous times, but sadly the refurbishment of the rooms means this was my last time. The refurbished rooms are oppressive and dingy – all the walls have been covered in a dark, depressing wallpaper, which is only broken up by white, cold lights. The stone floors have been covered with black linoleum, which looks depressing and dirty. The refurbishment is being done as cheaply as possible, leaving the colourful kitchen tiles intact and the bathroom mostly untouched. For some bizarre reason AstroTurf has been placed on the balcony floors. They have taken what used to be cheap-ish beach hotel rooms and given them a morgue/sauna makeover. This is really frustrating as, otherwise, the place remains pleasant – the pool is still great, the staff are lovely (Kevin, the receptionist, deserves a particular shout-out) and the gym has been re-done really well. The location is super handy as well.

Great hotel in Playa d‘Ingles. Superior hotel with a stylish interior. Great and nice staff. Excellent breakfast buffet in the roof top restaurant with a stunning view. Free parking offered. A lot of restaurant and bars are located in the Yumbo Center, a few minutes by foot from the hotel. Pools are heated and there was always free sunbeds available. Rooms are big and cleaned. The hotel is well maintained.

This time, I booked two five-star hotels on the island, both of which are owned by riu. Each has its own advantages and disadvantages. The desert is right next to it. The sunset is particularly beautiful, and the hotel staff are also very enthusiastic. The swimming pool is a saltwater swimming pool that feels like swimming in the sea, and the room is not bad. Mine is a pair of two single beds put together. You can also note that you need a single bed. There are a complete range of food and beverages, and you really get what you pay for. The hotel is not too big, but although the sparrow is small, it has all internal organs. The only thing is that when the wind blows near the desert, a lot of sand will be blown, but it doesn't matter if you go back to the room and take a shower. There are buses and taxis outside the hotel, the transportation is convenient, there are restaurants, bars and shops everywhere, and it is a very mature place for vacation and tourism.

Just returned again from Sandy Beach brilliant hotel, best Ive ever stayed in. All the staff are excellent and very helpful. Rooms are brilliant and beds so comfortable. Food is excellent. You couldn't ask for better food so much food. Im a fussy eater and there was so much choice. The young man at the restaurant saw I was on a walking stick and made sure I got a table near the buffet and made sure I was looked after. He was so nice and charming - please give him my sincere thanks. The only complaint I can make and its not about the hotel as its perfect - a lot of guests were at the buffet pushed and shoved even though they could see I was on a walking stick as they couldnt wait to get to the food and didnt care who they pushed out of the way think they were German. Many guests didnt dress according to the dress code for the eventing meal wearing shorts. I know this isnt the staffs fault its the guests they just didnt care. You cant fault the any of the staff at the hotel Dominic on reception was extremely helpful showing me the garden terrace room which I will try and book on my next trip. I apologise to the cleaner she was so nice and I forgot to leave her a tip which I felt guilty about but I was rushing to get out for a early pickup. Cant wait to go back its a brilliant hotel. If any one reads this please feel assured that you will get the best treatment at Sandy Beach its close to all amenities and everyone is brilliant. They even took my suitcase to the room on arrival. On arrival the hotel looked very impressive (It was just after Christmas) although I'm sure it looks great all the time. Reception staff efficient and friendly with glass of bubbly on arrival. Room was excellent with all bathroom essentials required supplied (we had brought our own) as first time visiting. There was a bottle of wine in the room not sure if this is normal or because it was out first visit. Food and drink was great (we had all inclusive package). The snack bar during the day serving the usual hamburgers etc. The rooftop bar (our favourite) was always well staffed who were friendly and welcoming. No complaints whatsoever - except one tiny little thing. On an all inclusive package some sort of 'snacks' crisps, nuts etc. not necessarily cooked food would have been nice on the rooftop. (these were available to buy) All in all we had a great time and will certainly have no hesitation in booking again hopefully for Easter 2025 or if not hopefully for after Christmas 2025

From the moment we received a warm welcome on arrival, we realised that our comfort and enjoyment was a priority if the staff. Our 1st floor room was spotless, with regular clean linen and towels as requested. The rooftop terrace is a bonus, with plenty beds, parasols and all day sun. The main pool, unfortunately, loses the sun from 3pm at this time of year(October). It is literally 2 minutes' walk to the beautiful promenade, along which you can walk towards Maspalomas or left towards San Augustin. The restaurant serves quality and plentiful food but there is a slight issue with labelling : a number are not labelled and not always obvious what they are. Additionally, not all cooks are aware of ingredients of certain dishes, which in our case, could have been an issue with allergies. The head chef, however, was most helpful in resolving our issues. Reception staff were particularly helpful, and I must mention Africa, who helped me daily with my Spanish grammar. We will certainly return to this hotel when we visit Gran Canaria

Stayed here for a sunshine break after Christmas for a week which included New Years. The hotel has been recently renovated and we had a junior suite on the first floor. The reception staff, and all staff are really welcoming and friendly. The hotel feels modern and clean. The reception and pool area are relaxing and chic. We were bed and breakfast. The morning food on offer was good, standard breakfast fair. There was an omelette station which did nice fried ham and cheese sandwiches. There were a couple of items missing (apple juice / hash browns) but the fact you could drink fizzy wine with your breakfast made up for that. The other plus was the timings. Breakfast was from 7:30 - 11:30 and no one was checking us in. So you could have had two sittings if you wanted. A nice bonus. The maid service was great. Our room had a balcony with lounges on which got the sun all afternoon. Rooms had fridge / TV and everything you would expect from a four star. The hotel was near the yumbo (5min walk) and lots of nice restaurants. Head away from the centre and near Burger King there were lovely Chinese and tapas restaurants. The only negative is the proximity to the Axel Beach hotel next door. This is a ‘vibe friendly’ hotel. On both Saturday and Sunday they had a DJ from 12-6. The decks were adjacent to the pool area at this hotel. The music was horrendously loud. Noise cancelling headphones could not block it out. I couldn’t read or listen to my podcast. Even inside with the doors shut you could hear it. Now I am no prude or party pooper but this was club music with an ear splitting beat which isn’t nice for relaxing in the afternoons. I complained to reception (as half the hotel did) but they said as it was day noise they couldn’t do anything. I feel bad writing this as it’s not this hotels fault, but it did ruin two pool afternoons of a 7 day holiday so I have to mention it. We did shopping a Mogan Mall and visited the Dunes but other than that we came to relax. I had a blast it was great to spend new year celebrating at the Yumbo. This hotel has lots to offer. But be prepared for weekend noise in the day time if you do book.

The hotel has a standard double room with views of the mountains with 4 nights. The rooms were clean, the bedroom equipment needed to be renovated, the bathroom was clean and useful. On the balcony (5 floors) there was a certain noise level due to the proximity to the street which does not reflect in the room after the balcony door was closed. The dinner (breakfast and dinner) was warm and delicious. The choice of foods was more than sufficient. I didn't use the pool area but was very good from the optical impression. The location of the hotel is very good because you can reach the beach in just a few minutes walking distance. Shopping opportunities are all directions fast and easy to walk. Other equipment (fitness, hairdresser, bike rental etc.) were as described, but was not used by me. A transfer from or to the airport should be booked separately in advance on the hotel website. Reservation at the reception is not possible.
