We recently stayed at the Rosewood Mayakoba for 8 nights. I struggled with the rating but decided it's average for this price class (which is more like European pricing than Mexico pricing). I would say 3.5, but I am going to round it up because the individuals working here are very nice. We had some hiccups which would prevent us from coming again at this price point, which I'll share below. But first, here are the things I really loved: - The setting is beautiful, truly a breathtaking area - We loved being able to bike around - The property is well-staffed and feels extremely safe - They have trained hawks at the pool to scare away the birds - Our son loved the kids club! - At one point did get sick and they sent a doctor within 30 minutes. It cost $100. She wrote me an Rx and the hotel went and picked it up and delivered it to the room. I felt very taking care of. - Having a hotel greeter and ride to the resort was really helpful. This was an extra cost, but well worth it - The welcome cookies are the best cookies I've ever had! - The wildlife is really fun. We saw monkeys, iguanas, coati, and more! We had two rooms (one beachfront studio suite and one deluxe lagoon suite). Despite the beachfront studio suite being $1K more per night than the deluxe lagoon suite, it was not as nice. The room (520) had more wear and tear (perhaps because of its proximity to the beach), the outdoor furniture was ratty, and there was a pretty big staircase up to the front door. Plus, the view was not really of the beach -- it was of the rooftops of the beach-front villas (you could see the ocean beyond that). We decided to downgrade to a deluxe lagoon suite (315) which was larger and newer. Despite it being a downgrade in terms of pricing ($1k/night less), we were not compensated for the difference. I would personally recommend either splurging on the beachfront villa OR the deluxe lagoon suite. Beyond this, we did have a few kinks in our stay that make this resort a notch below a 5-star experience: - The website is misleading and needs to be updated. On the individual room class page, it says the ”terms and conditions” which include free airport transfer, daily breakfast, etc. However, these are only the terms and conditions for the villas. They should only include the T&C for the room class that is on the page. - Our keys didn't work when we went back to the room on the first day - They gave the kids water bottles, but they were used with other kids names on them - The food is hit or miss. We did enjoy the variety and being able to go to other restaurants in Mayakoba. - If you have young kids, beware of things keeping them up at night. One night they were cleaning the unit below us at 10PM. And on our last night (the night before a 5AM departure to the airport) there was loud music from a wedding until 11:15PM. - It's really hard to get a boat to go anywhere. It's wonderful having it to take you to the room at the beginning of the trip, but oth
This place is a dump don't be fooled by the photos. My son and I booked the room on-line based on the photos. We even booked an additional night before our 3 day reservation started since we arrived in Playa del Carmen early. Upon arriving at the Hotel we found out they don't have an elevator - you don't see that mentioned anywhere on their website. Our room was on the third floor. We had to go up a very narrow metal spiral staircase that we actually had to crawl up the last level because of the low clearance at the top. Imagine carrying your suit cases up and having to navigate the narrow low steps -very dangerous. Once getting into the Jr. 2 bedroom suite we find out the second bedroom was an open loft that we had to climb a ladder to get to. Once in the loft the railing was not stable. If you have young children you would be terrified. We arrived in the evening so we got settled and went out to eat. We got back late and it was dark. We had to navigate the low poorly lit spiral staircase to get to our room. I ended up hitting my head on the bottom of one of the steps and suffered what the pharmacist told me was a slight concussion I also injured my leg because I stumbled when I hit my head. I got in my room and called the front desk it was closed so I had to send a message to a what's ap number. I did not hear back from anyone until late the next morning. I had a horrible headache and an injured leg so we decided to check out of the room. I am 55 years old and did not want to risk the spiral staircase for three more days. I had to wait around to meet with the manager when she came in. She told me they did not have another 2 bedroom room on a lower level so we told her we would be checking out and she agreed they would credit us for the 3 night reservation that we would not be using. Very important to know I am not trying to get refunded for the additional night that we came in early and stayed - this is when the accident happened. It is now February and I am still fighting with the Hotel to get my credit card refunded. Don't be fooled by the photos they show of the beach either. You can't lay on the beach or enter the water at the hotel because all of the small charter boats dock in front of the beach area. It has a horrible gasoline smell and not a spot where you would swim or let your children swim. I didn't want to write this review but they left me no choice because they continue to contest refunding my money. I am not asking for a refund for the night I stayed in the hotel. I am only asking to be refunded for the 3 nights I paid for and did not stay due to the unsafe conditions and being injured. tony

The off-season is not too noisy, the people are not crowded, the food and drink are very high-end, the room hardware is very high-end, that is, it is comfortable and convenient, but also has face, the location is very good, and it is super safe!
As the Banyan Tree service did not have to say, that is, the charges are expensive, even the expensive is not good for hygiene, the pool villas, the small collapse in the yard can not lie, placed in the corner of the eaves do not say mosquitoes There are many ant bugs and a lot of spider webs. It looks dirty. The colony is also covered with insect secretions and spider webs. The partitions in the room are all gray, which makes people feel uncomfortable. And if it is too far to go to the beach, it is not convenient. It can only be said that this Banyan Tree is relatively backward, not as good as the nearby Viseroy.
This new hotel is in a great location, within walking distance to 5th Street, the beaches, and the local community. A+ for location! There is also a beautiful and expansive supermarket right under the hotel to get whatever culinary needs you require. We were upgraded to a balcony room as Bonvoy Titanium,.The price point of the Aloft was also a value, and it is a good bargain in using Marriott Bonvoy points. Javier that checked us in was lovely and gracious, and all staff were pleasant and professional. Aloft is an unusual hotel--one that wants to be a wanna-be hip W Hotel and also a Fairfield Inn for Gen Z'ers. It didn't do either very well, unfortunately. The staff wanted to do well, and perhaps there are still newly opened growing pains that will be worked out. Housekeeping was promised daily, but on 3 out of the 5 days we had to call Housekeeping after returning from the day;'s activities to service the room (which they did right away when called) but this was a big fail. The purified water dispenser in the nice gym was often empty. And generally the upkeep of the hotel is not or was not a priority. It's nice and new and ”hip looking” but metal surfaces and walls by the pool on the 4th floor are rusting already, and little bits of trash on the hallway carpeting remained for the 5 days which showed they didn't vacuum the common areas as often as should be. Room A/C and common area A./C were great! 4th floor pool has city and sea views in the distance and we could often see Cozumel and the cruise ships anchored there in the far distance on most days. I wanted the stay to be great, but it was good.
hotel done fixed their mistake from the website I booked. When we arrived they told us we need to pay extra tax & no bkft included. But we showed them the itinerary that we payed. Hotel( Guillermo ) initiatively solve the mistake for us, which is a very good move! Allow us to enjoy more in the beautiful trip.
Restaurant waiters are super kind and pay attention on their guests which is five star service we expected all the time. Thanks Walter giving us a wonderful experience.
Also the one who assisted us bring luggage downstairs in this morning, Axel was super detail oriented in service, perspected our needs!! He deserved more!
Thanks for those beautiful exp. your colleagues made our trips easy & enjoyable!

Outstanding
EEzzouMy experience was not very positive, mainly because of the staff at the reception desk,
They charged me twice for my stay even though I showed them that I already paid online, they insisted that I pay again, before accessing the room and still didn’t receive the refund for that second paiement
The room itself is really beautiful , clean and confortable !
They charged us for using some amenities, even though it was in open access and no notice indicated that this was a paying service,
The breakfast is underwhelming to say the least,
The place is close to the parks of Xplore and Xcaret you can either choose to go by walking (30 min) or take a taxi that will cost you 20 dollars for 7 min
But it’s pretty far from the city Center of Playa del Carmen, you will need to take a taxi, it will cost at least 20 dollars, or you could walk for 40 min
This hotel has a very high potentiel, if the reception desk staff would be friendlier, and more helpful, and if they could make a small improvement on the breakfast
NNikkilaoshiLocation is great. Checkin was easy. Rooms are spacious with a little kitchenette (stove cooktop & microwave) but there’s no dishes or utensils to cook. Decent coffee/tea setup. Nice robes. Medium sized fridge with freezer section. City view rooms do not have balconies and face street with view of ice cream shop and laundromat. Pool is warm & pool towels available. 1 block from the busy street and 2 blocks from beach. There’s a bar with a pool table, foosball, and darts where happy hour was offered for an hour daily. BREAKFAST WAS NOT WORTH WAKING EARLY FOR. Very limited options and was cold. Also after checking our reservation at the breakfast restaurant they were insisting we pay for it when we paid for it with the reservation. Also felt the breakfast staff were a bit rude when I tried asking for details on the station others were lining up for reminding me of things that were included or not.
GGuest UserFrom start to finish, the experience at Ocean Riviera Paradise El Beso was simply outstanding. The resort itself is beautiful, with immaculately maintained grounds. But what really stood out to me was the exceptional service provided by the employees, particularly Miroslava, Rafael, Timu, Jorge (from the trolly), Mijael (bartender), and Francisco!! As mentioned, the employees at Ocean Riviera Paradise El Beso that truly make the resort stand out and made our time there absolutely AMAZING are Miroslava, Rafael, Timu, Jorge (from the trolly), Mijael (bartender), and Francisco! Here are some more positives about their exceptional service: * They are incredibly knowledgeable about the resort and the surrounding area. They were always happy to provide recommendations for activities, restaurants, and local attractions, and they seemed genuinely invested in ensuring that we had a wonderful time! * They were dedicated to providing exceptional service and ensuring that we felt valued and appreciated. They clearly take pride in their work and went out of their way to make sure that every guest had a personalized and memorable experience. * They are warm, friendly, and approachable. They are always available to answer questions or offer assistance, but never intrusive or pushy. * They are professional, and they take their jobs very seriously. They are punctual, reliable, and always strived to exceed guest expectations. Overall, these employees at Ocean Riviera Paradise El Beso are truly exceptional. Their dedication to providing outstanding service and ensuring that guests have a wonderful time is evident in everything they do. I can't speak highly enough of them and their commitment to making the resort a truly special place. Please do ensure this feedback is shared with them all. THANK YOU FOR THE AWESOME TIME GUYS!!! You made the trip super awesome and we are super grateful to have met you all. - Adrian (NYC)
YYOUFANGThe hotel does not have a breakfast. It is convenient to have supermarkets and restaurants in the surroundings. There is parking lot. It is close to the sea. It is convenient to swim with a pool. There are many specialties by the sea, and many small gift shops.
GGuest UserI love the scenery! The atmosphere is great and the pool is great too! However, replies are so slow that it is very difficult to communicate via email.
I took my extended family to Playa del Carmen for a fun week. I booked 4 separate 2 bedrooms / 2 bathrooms suites at Anah Suites but were given 3 suites at Anah Downtown and 1 suite at Anah La Playa across the street. They were overbooked and our concierge, Daniel Jimenez, tried to accommodate us by offering to move us to the La Quinta by Anah on 5th Avenue & 40th, but we realized that the current location was actually the best since it was close to everything. Daniel was really accommodating and the staffs were really nice! The suites were offered at a good price for the money, however, it is close to a busy street. I let the rest of my family stay at the suites at Anah Downtown and we stayed in the suite at La Playa across the street. Our room was clean but one of the toilet wasn't flushing in 1 bathroom and the shower barely worked in the other bathroom. This was annoying at first, but wasn't a big deal since we spent most of our time outdoors doing activities. Be warned that nearby streets are constantly busy (noise all day and all night) and for our trip, the other guests were coming home at 3:00AM in the morning and making a lot of noise. Playa del Carmen is very close to Xcaret, Xplor, Xel-ha, Tulum and a lot of cenotes that were really fun to swim in. We will definitely do this again soon.
MMendezIn general I had a great time, good location, different theme in rooms, the treatment of people at the reception is very good, the facilities need maintenance and a little investment, they look somewhat neglected. Breakfast is good but very late.
GGuest UserThe hotel is an older hotel. The location is great for access to the beach and walk around 5th Ave. The bartenders and the travel shop/scuba shop were great the hotel maintenance and front desk staff were not the best. We did have issues with our rooms and they were fixed eventually except the king room
that we booked was not available and we had to share a double bed. Iit’s an older hotel with musty smells and stuck drawers. The pool closed early on a Saturday night (8pm) but the mariachi/karaoke can play until 11pm and the noise will carry into the room. The kelp on the beach is filled with sand fleas and we came home with over 100 sand flea bites between the 5 of us. The buffet was ok but not worth $45 per day per person.
GGuest UserIt is located in the most central location in the Praya del Carmen area. The beach is close, the bus is close, and the supermarket is close. If you are planning to travel to this area.
There is no reason not to choose this hostel.
step. I like to read books quietly. This hotel is not suitable for people with insomnia.
The hotel is beautiful. The inner rooms are relatively quiet.
Do NOT waste your money on this place. It is located right across from the extreamely noicy bare ‘Senor Frog’. It was impossible to get any sleep here because of the extreme noice. And this is NOT mentioned anywhere on ********** or their website. Also the place is worn down and dirty. I changed my room 3 times in one night. All 3 rooms had dirty/stained bedlinen/towels - very disgusting. It was dirty and does absolutely not categorize as a 3/4 star hotel in any way, shape or form. One of the rooms i changed to smelled so bad of either mold or pee..or a combination of both… We had booked 1 week in this place through ********** and unfortunately the hotel was not willing to refund our stay although they promise a totally different experience on **********. We checked out after one night and tried to get a refund wich the hotel refused. So we basically wasted our money. The standard of this hotel is VERY low and you dont want to waste your money here. Breakfast is included - but dont get fooled by this either. The breakfast is the most basic you can imagine and you have to go to another location for this. If you want a good vacation in Playa Del Carmen do NOT go to this hotel.
