__wfo26****Before coming to Kumamoto, I noticed that some hotels here were a bit small and old. After comparing a few, I decided to go with the long-established local brand, Nikko Hotel, and it turned out to be a very wise choice! The hotel is right in the city center, directly opposite Tsuruya Department Store. Pedestrian streets like Shimotori and Ginza-dori are just a few minutes' walk away, lined with countless restaurants, izakayas, bars, and drugstores. Although the hotel has been around for some time, it's very well-maintained and clean, clearly showing the elegance of a classic high-end hotel. Both the rooms and shower areas are quite spacious. For breakfast, you have two options: a Japanese-style meal on the 7th floor or a buffet on the 2nd floor, which offers a rich variety of delicious dishes. The concierge was exceptionally helpful and polite, assisting with Shinkansen schedules and calling taxis. They even kept bowing until we got into the car.

Its prime location, right to the right after exiting Kumamoto Station, makes it incredibly convenient for transportation. The complimentary breakfast offers a wide variety of options and the thoughtful touch of allowing guests to take food back to their rooms is much appreciated.

JJeff YNI originally planned to go to Yushima to see cats the next morning, so I chose this hotel that is closer to the pier, opposite Aeon and Daison.
Although the room is small, it is very clean and hygienic, and it is very quiet at night, which is commendable. The hotel also provides parking for 1,000 yen per night.
The downside is that the air conditioning is directed directly in your face so you can't jump on it too much. The staff at the front desk didn't understand English at all, but luckily there was a translation machine to help, and they were very punctual to leave at 11 o'clock, otherwise it would be 1,000 yen!

GGuest UserThis is our second time staying at FAV Hotel, and the overall experience was very pleasant. Firstly, the room design is very modern, giving it a comfortable feel. The interior color palette primarily uses warm tones, complemented by wooden decor, creating a cozy atmosphere.
The room's layout is also very practical. The bunk bed design is especially suitable for family travelers; children can play on them, making it easier for parents. Additionally, the beds are extremely comfortable, ensuring we had a good night's sleep.
In terms of space, the room is exceptionally spacious, and it provides plenty of charging ports.
The room is equipped with a kitchenette and a washing machine, which is extremely convenient. The only minor drawback is the limited parking, with only three spaces available. However, there's a nearby parking lot which costs just 600 yen for the whole night. Furthermore, there's a convenience store within a one-minute walk.
In summary, I was extremely satisfied with the design, comfort, and convenience of the rooms at this hotel. Highly recommended for family travelers!

NNAMIKOThe rooms and the public bath were clean. However, the breakfast buffet was a big disappointment. We were informed that breakfast was served until 9:30 AM (with the buffet closing at 10:00 AM). However, when we arrived around 8:50 AM, about half of the items were already empty. Despite having 3-4 staff members present, they frequently replenished plates and utensils, but no food items were refilled at all. I also felt that the initial selection of dishes was quite limited, which made the buffet seem even more meager. Most of the dishes I had wanted to try were already gone. There were only two pieces of one type of bread left. For dessert, just a single small bowl of canned fruit and one yogurt remained. It made me wonder what other options there might have been earlier. I paid an extra ¥1,500 for this breakfast, but in hindsight, I should have just gone to the nearby Sukesan Udon instead.

TTraveller CI stayed at this hotel twice. The second time (this booking) we had a room on the older (?) wing and it was almost twice the size of the first one. So for this review I will only share feedback on this “older” room.
This room was big and thus good for us as we had 2 large luggage and more space in the room allowed us to open and pack our luggages with ease.
The bathroom was large with the large traditional bathtub. Toilet had bidet and etc but lacked heating which made it very cold in the winter. Basin tap was still the old turn types which was not eco friendly as it’s more difficult to shut it off.
Location was just opposite the train station which was excellent. But the nearest convenience store is also only at the train station which is about a 5-7mins walk away.
Breakfast was curated to suit the Japanese palette more and ends at 9a.m which is really way too early!!
We left something behind in the hotel but they managed to send the item back to us at our new hotel (still in Japan) which was highly appreciated.
Despite a few minor shortcomings listed above, the pros still outweigh the cons and I’ll definitely be happy to stay here again.

RRoman.KusI think it was the biggest disappointment so far. The hotel is fine if you stay for one night. But more — I doubt it. For example, it is mandatory to leave at 10:00 even if you stay for more than one night. You can pay 1500 yen, but it literally gives you nothing. You can’t use sauna and sento. You received no additional service or amenities. Even sleeping is hard — the staff changes sheets. Next, people actually live in this capsule hotel. It means they get up very early, loud, alarm clocks, etc. Finally, the locker room is super tiny. There is little space. No benches. Definitely will not stay again.
Good sides — the staff is polite, and you can store your luggage at the counter. Actually, you must, but people still carry their luggage upstairs.

LLei，taoOverall, a fantastic stay! I really appreciated the complimentary drinks and the spacious bathtub in the room. The service was excellent, and I'll definitely be returning for another visit. My only minor critique is that the location isn't the most convenient, but despite that, I found the overall experience to be very satisfactory.

GGuest UserI honestly do not know where to start, I booked the hotel without really knowing much about Kumamoto Prefecture. After arriving in Kumamoto City and then realising Ueki Onsen is another 40 minute bus ride I was thinking oh dear where am I staying. After arriving at the hotel I was greeted by the manager of the hotel who showed me to my room and gave me a tour of the facilities. Once settled in I realised there isn't great public transport around and I primarily wanted to see Beppu and Yufuin during my stay, I enquired with the manager on where I might be able to rent a car, with little to no Japanese language under my belt he took it upon himself to reserve a vehicle for me and offered to drive me himself to collect it. He then also said he would take me back to return it a few days later. After my trips to Beppu and Yufui village (Not to be missed) and not to miss the outstanding and beautiful surroundings in Uekimachi and the Aso region. The manager and I set off to return my hire car, on the way back he took me to Kikuchi shrine to pray and also gifted me coffee and cake. They also accommodated me with use of the on site onsen (amazing) after hours as I'm heavily tattooed. I feel truly grateful to have found this hidden gem of rural Japan and if you are thinking of traveling this great country I emplore you to go off the beaten path. I experienced untold kindness during my stay and have memories of a life time. Thank you so much guys
