This hotel have several convenience stores nearby. And a shopping mall near the car park.
I rented a three bed room. At first, the humidity of the room is relatively high, and have an air-con water dropping issue. Being told that this issue is normally in Japan since it is a raining season, but the staff assist to offer another room. The second offer room air-con is in trouble, which is not cool even turned to 16 degree. At last, we were upgraded to the slightly larger room with three beds (the third bed is still a sofa bed). The room is so clean, two beds are in double bed, the tv could used for Netflix and YouTube.
I would say the organise of the staff is in a satisfy level. The shower supplies are in Kose, the water pressure is relatively good among four hotels I’ve been stayed in Japan for this trip. But there are only 8 car parking in this hotels, with the first in first serve policy. So, we couldn’t managed to have a car parking although I’ve been told in the comment box by trip.com. However, they have some collaborated car parking suppliers nearby with a discount coupons. It’s not really convenient for you if you just stay for one night. But for me, it’s more than acceptable.

This hotel is located within a short walking distance from the Kumamoto station. From the JR bstation exit it is on the left, just beside the Bic Camera store next. There is also a streetcar/tram stop so near the hotel which you can use to explore the city touristy spots! Shopping is convenient as the Kumamoto AMU Plaza (see another Review) is 5-mins walk away. The lobby is quite spacious and I quite like the intimate setting and lighting. Check-in was fast and 3 lifts serve well with travellers + luggages. The room design is quite standard and we have requested for x2 single bed, the room size is respectable. Noted that they're still using the physical hard key and not the keycard type. Hottel provided some amenities and complimentary bottled water in the room, sufficient for us . The Hotel is very into Going Green, there will be no housekeeping within first 3-days unless requested upon. This may likely be the model moving forward, to cut wastages. We had our breakfast at the nearby Pronto. The Kitaoka Shrine is just about 400 metres nearby, opposite direction of JR station so we recommend to drop by if time permits. A good stay experience. J

We took Highway Bus (2.5hr) from Fukuoka Airport to Kumamoto Sakuramachi Bus Terminal. Koko Hotel is directly connected to the bus terminal. Hotel was opened in June 2022 and there were now clear signages to Koko Hotel as we alighted from the bus. We took escalator to the 2F and take the lift to the 14F where the Hotel lobby is. From the lobby, we get a clear view of Kumamoto Castle. Our Superior Twin Room is very spacious and comfortable. We paid Y32,310 for 2 nights. It is 10 mins walk to the Castle, and 10 mins taxi ride to Kumamoto Station. Amu Plaza next to Kumamoto Station has plenty of eateries. Sakuramachi has Family Mart, restaurants and shops.

Stayed in a room with an open-air bath. The room was clean and easy to spend. There is a tatami mats, so you can go go go. The bed is a bit hard, but it is not difficult to sleep. The open-air bath can hear the sound of the car because it is all over the city, but there is a cherry blossom and it is not visible from the surroundings, and the curtain for completely blocking is also installed, so if you are concerned, you can use it. The water was clean and easy to use. The outlet is hardly close to the floor, under the TV, under the bed, the bathroom and the air cleaner. If the charging cable is short, the tablet will be charged at the bed. If the charging cable is long, you can extend it from the TV and put the tablet on the tatami mats to charge. It was because it was a room near the coin laundry on the 3 floor, and I heard the sound of the washing machine. However, I was able to spend it without worrying about it. It is also convenient that the next door is seven eleven. I didn't use breakfast buffet because of corona. The hotel receptionist is a sister in a T-shirt, and there is no atmosphere called ”Hotel Man”, but I was able to check in and check out smoothly, and there is no rudeness. It was a very good hotel with location, newness and cleanliness.

The hotel's location was the main reason why we booked the place. It was close to both Kumamon Square and Kumamotojo, the 2 things we wanted to do in Kumamoto. However, note that even though it's right next to Kumamotojo, it still takes a 15~20minute walk to the entrance because it's on the other side of the castle keep during it's repairs. The staff are wonderful and very helpful, standard level of service in Japan is just one step above every other country. The staff did valet parking for me without extra charge, and was quite helpful in helping us to get to different attractions and restaurants. Overall, the hotel is very dated and the rooms are in dire need of a full renovation. I think that is why the rates were quite reasonable. For a hotel this caliber (probably 5 stars when it was first built), we only paid around 10,000 yen per night. The issue is the rooms are really old and the carpet looks dirty and ripped. parts of the washrooms were so old the faucet looked like it's from the early 90s and with small amounts of molds in the creases. Because the hotel is old, the ventilation isn't the greatest either. One of our rooms although was non-smoking, we could smell other room's cigarette smell in our room. Overall, I don't really recommend this hotel because it's really dated, but if you are on a budget and want close amenity it's worth a shot. The staff are nice too so I feel bad for not recommending the hotel, but at the end of the day, there are just better options in Kumamoto today.

My wife and I stayed at the Nikko Kumamoto from 1/5/2023- 3/5/2023 on our second leg of the kyushu trip after a disastrous stay at Nikko Huis Ten Bosch( that I posted on another review). The hospitality was a complete turnaround . We arrived by taxi from the kumamoto station and upon arrival at rhe entrance, there was.a guest officer to help us unload and wheel in our luggage to the check in lobby. Throughout our stay whenever we stepped into or walked by the guests officers, they would greet us and acknowledge us. Despite the language barrier, I was especially touched by the sincere efforts of one of your male guests officer who wore glasses. I had intially wanted to visit Mount Aso but did not know how to go there using public bus. So one one evening I walked to the guest relations desk and stated my intentions and request for more info. I could tell the officer had difficulty trying to communicate in English but he was trying very hard to get the information across. Throughout our stay were given maps and shown by pen and drawings whenever we had questions to a location ie ramen restaurant while waiting for check in, where to shop for sneakers etc I really appreciated the hospitality and guidance despite the language barrier. We hope to be back in future and keep up the good work! I hope the nikko mgmt team can transfer this consistency to your other chains ie( nikko huis ten bosch which clearly lacks such direction ). I really hope when ever I'm in japan I can go back to a nikko

We have used it several times. It feels a bit old in an old hotel, but it is a hotel that can be clean and calm. The morning Viking is a 10F restaurant, so you can see Kumamoto Jo castle that took the Asahi in front of you. The Viking was delicious as well. There was ”Kumamoto Ramen” and I made a morning rake on the last day. The size of the room and the hardness of the bed are satisfactory, but because the room light is small, I want another standlight and the bathroom faucet can be set to temperature I'm grateful. I made four stars. I am satisfied because I had a calm and comfortable time

The room is clean and comfortable. The only inconvenience is that you have to climb stairs to get up and down from the bed. Be careful when going to the toilet at night. Be careful when moving around the room. If you need to park for a self-driving tour, it takes about 3-5 minutes to walk from the hotel parking lot. Parking is not allowed in front of the hotel, which may be a bit troublesome if you have a lot of luggage. The hotel lobby is equipped with a locker, laundry room, microwave, ice machine, and water machine. It's very relaxing to enjoy the breeze and drink beer in the common area at night. There is also a Cafe in the lobby, which sells coffee and wine. Downstairs is a shopping street with many restaurants, convenience stores, Donki, and drug stores. A few minutes' walk away is Kumamoto Yatai Street. Super convenient!

The room seems to have a color 々 type, but it was a 4 bed with a loft. Among them, 2 is about a double size, so I think 6 can sleep. It has a washing machine and a mini kitchen and a wide bath 々. However, it may be inconvenient because drying is only in the bathroom. The hanger was borrowed at the front desk. It is for long stay because there is one IH stove, a pot, a kettle, a knife cutting board, a chopsticks and dishes, a dish detergent, and a whole range. It is more than 1 km from downtown and Kumamoto Station, so healthy people can walk, but it is not convenient. Convenience stores are nearby 7-Eleven. The front desk seems to be not 24 time resident. It is completely for long-term stays and is not suitable for those who are crunchy for sightseeing, but we are particular about the brand that is easy to use, such as the newness, cleanliness of the room, hair dryer, tableware, and kettle. I think it is a good hotel for those who like residence type hotels.

GGuest UserI stayed 2 at the end of the year. It was my first stay, but I wanted to relax and stay again. The hotel is over 9 floor, but the glass is often used and the view is bright everywhere. Creation that I have never seen before. A mechanism that cannot be put in the room key in the lodging zone. The building is a corridor style, overlooking the garden and chapel on the 9 floor, but it is lit up at night and this is beautiful again. The rooms are a bit vertical, but I was able to spend calmly. I liked my wife very much. The public bath is also like a fashionable and splendid hot spring hotel. Maybe more. There was a drum coin laundry next to the entrance of the public bath, and it was convenient for consecutive nights. Breakfast was a buffet, but the buffet on New Year's Day is a great word. When I arrived at the entrance with the service of the soup and arrived at the seat, the miscellaneous boiling was carried first. The soup was very delicious. In addition to the usual buffet, there were special dishes for New Year's Day, but there were many fresh sashimi, kazukono, shrimp, etc. There was red rice in rice. All were delicious and ate a lot. I went by car, but I went directly from the underground parking lot to the front floor and the parking fee was very good. Moreover, I think it is the best value for money in a hotel in Kumamoto City with a 24-hour parking setting. My wife started saving money because she wanted to go to the end of this year.
I’m just finishing a two night stay at the KKR Hotel Kumamoto. The KKR means the hotel is mainly intended for national civil servants, but in reality anyone can stay there and the prices are reasonable. I have a twin room on the 6th floor with a view of Kumamoto Castle from the bed! The room is closer in size to western hotels and breakfast is included. The hotel is an aging beauty, but is still pretty nice. Kumamoto is a hilly city, especially near the castle. There is not a lot nearby the hotel, unless you are driving, or you walk down to the city, about 600m. Breakfast in the morning is mostly Japanese. It is a buffet and the quality is good. If you are lookup for quiet and peaceful, this is the place.Overall, I’ve had a nice stay and would definitely stay here again.
GGuest UserA very nice, modern hotel in the heart of the Kumamoto shopping district - very convenient location, right at the cross section of the two major covered shopping thoroughfares. Check-in only at 3pm and is an automated check-in/check-out system. Staff are very helpful and friendly. At check-in, you are free to choose your amenities from a very wide selection, including bath salts, face cleanser, moisturizer, coffee, green tea, etc. There is a giant tv in the room. No bottled water is provided. The room offers a full robe (short yukata and pants!). The rooms itself are very modern and renovated. There are two Family Marts and a 7-11 within a block of the hotel, as well as many dining and retail options within short walking distance. It is about a 15 minute walk to Kumamoto Castle and a 30 minute walk to Kumamoto Station.
AAnonymous UserThe hotel is near the shopping streets. It's convenience for us to buy everything, includes the souvenirs and daily use.The grilling meat shops are covered all the street.Over 3 parking lots are nearby the hotel as well.Furthermore, many delicious Japanese food shops for choosing. The hotel also provides free water spa and sauna on the top floor which runs near 20hrs daily. The 3-persons bedrooms are clean and large, it has enough space for family to take a nap.Come again next time.
JJohnston ChanThe hotel is situated next to a tram station but more importantly, within close proximity to Kumamoto castle and Sakura Machi, so sightseeing and grabbing dinner was no trouble. However, consider not travelling to this hotel with luggage on a tram since I found the experience quite gruelling. Trams in Kumamoto are not exactly designed for tourists carrying hefty luggage.
The staff spoke very decent English in the realm of Japanese hotels. The rooms spotlessly clean and sizeable also in terms of Japan. The only downside is that there is no bathhouse but this is much compensated by the spacious bathroom with a roomy bathtub and a rainfall shower.
All in all, the only thing you have to ponder upon is whether you would be travelling to this hotel with luggage on the tram. Otherwise, this is a perfect location to stay in Kumamoto!
(A photo of the whole room is not uploaded since my friend is in it!)
SsallyThe location is very good, you can walk to nearby attractions.
The room is also quite big.
The only bad thing was that one morning the fire alarm went off and no staff could be found to ask what happened. The fire alarm bell rang for a long time before the announcement came, and it was only in Japanese. The final guess is that it was a false alarm.
MmummywandersHighly recommended. The staff are very helpful and polite. The hotel is also in close proximity to shimotori shopping arcade and a big shopping mall. The castle is also within walking distance. The hotel lobby has quite a number of kumamon for photo taking.
TTau KokThere are 2 Daiwa Roynet Hotels in Kumamoto, so we took a taxi to the wrong one! Fortunately, they are walking distance from each other. The taxi driver cannot read English, so you need to be clear that it is the Ginza Dori one. It is not near to the railway station, so tram ride is needed. We took a taxi because there were 2 of us and 2 large bags. I like the room size because of our large suitcases. There are many restaurants nearby. We love this place
GGuest UserWe stayed on the tour. The exterior is very clean after renewal. The interior is also around the restaurant and lobby on the first floor, and the front desk is clean. Especially the restaurant was not only clean, but the breakfast was very delicious with local dishes lined up. However, the rooms seemed to be under renewal construction, and the passenger elevator was dedicated to one construction. The guest room floor is that of a business hotel with a Showa atmosphere from the corridor. The room smells of an old hotel, from carpet to wallpaper, and you can feel the remnants of the time when you could smoke. You can see from the scratch of the burnt chair that it was a smoking room. The bathroom was the same as before, and due to the trap of drainage under the floor, there was a step of about 20 cm, and it was difficult to climb and down. And it's very narrow. The view from the room is that there is a highway on the river side, but the space is open On the other side, you can only see the closed hospitals and emergency stairs in old buildings. I think the river side is good if you stay. Anyway, it is best after the renewal is completed. The view does not change.
BBao QuocGood location, 2 minute walk to Sakuramachi Bus Station for long distance bus or city bus and also near tram station for city roaming. The kumamoto is easily accessed with a 10 minute walk. The room size and amenities are standard and clean.
