"Beyond the official Tulou attractions, the proprietress also took us to a private spot (Pic 3). It was a lovely place where adults could enjoy tea and conversation, while children could play in the water and even try catching fish. It was absolutely wonderful! It truly felt like an escape to a secluded paradise – incredibly quiet, and there wasn't even any phone signal. A perfect opportunity to completely relax and unwind. Pictures 1 and 2 showcase the collection of old furniture and farming tools the proprietress has curated on the guesthouse's rooftop. It's a very thoughtful touch, and city kids found them particularly fascinating."

"The staff at this guesthouse were all incredibly warm and welcoming, which made for a great experience. Both dinner and breakfast were homemade here and tasted delicious. It was lovely to take a refreshing 50-minute walk in the cool morning air.
Just a short walk over a small bridge, the adjacent village features several traditional Hakka fortified houses. The oldest of these structures date back 800 years, while the most recent began construction in 1964.
The surrounding fields are beautiful, filled with rice paddies, lotus flowers, and passion fruit. Breathing in the fresh morning air from the fields was truly invigorating.
One minor suggestion: we couldn't locate the switch for the bathroom exhaust fan during our entire stay, even after trying all the available switches. I'm sure there's one, but clearer labeling would be very helpful."

"I would like to thank all staffs for making our 2 nights stay so comfortable and amazing. They are all very helpful and their services are really wonderful. The place is very neat and clean.
I brought my 16 months old girl to the retreat. They have specifically prepared her dinner based on my requirement and I must say that their food are really very delicious.

"The accommodation feels good, the room is hygienic and clean, the layout is simple and elegant. I especially like the beautiful scenery that can be seen through the two large glass windows. The boss is an enthusiastic person, and the dishes he cooks are delicious, especially the steamed light fish, which is delicious. "We, my parents, my father-in-law and my mother-in-law, a group of six people, started our trip to southern Fujian during off-peak hours. The experience of staying in this hotel was great. The owner was a very friendly family, especially my little sister who helped carry the luggage up and down. The room was very large and antique, especially suitable for a relaxing trip. The food was also very delicious, with the style of local southern Fujian cuisine. Highly recommended!!!"

The room was very clean, the viewing platform was first-class, and it was a very distinctive homestay. The quietness at night made you feel very comfortable. When you go out, you will reach Tasha Village, a very distinctive village.

GGuest UserI originally planned a one-day trip to Taxia Village, but I stayed there for two days because of the boss's enthusiasm, sincerity, and the environment of the village. Friends who like quietness and leisure should not miss Taxia Village. The temperature is suitable, cool, very original and not very commercialized. The Firefly we stayed at this time is a store run by the couple with great care. We also let the boss arrange the food at Firefly. We told the boss how many people can eat and what the budget is, so we can go out and play with peace of mind. The meal in the picture only costs 200 yuan, tastes great and is very filling! ! What I like most is that there is a large platform to dry clothes, and you can lie on a chair and watch the stars in the sky at night! You can also see a lot of fireflies in June and July! A very satisfying stay! I will come again 🥰

JJianiniOn our drive back to Beijing from Sanya, we were enjoying the journey when our child suggested seeing a Tulou. We made a spontaneous decision to visit this place. The owner was incredibly friendly, and we learned so much chatting with them. This Tulou is over a century old. Initially, I noticed the windows had no glass and thought it was just for ventilation, only to discover they actually had a clever little mechanism! Haha.

VVythicaWe stayed in Floral Luxury.1949 Guesthouse for 1 night. We booked Mufan room located on the ground floor as i am travelling with my elderly mom and carrying heavy luggage bags.
The guesthouse butler will contact you the night before your arrival to add them to Wechat for easy communication. They will share their hotel location and offer pick-up service at the train station if required.
Access to Yunshuiyao town is RMB90 perpax and free for those aged above 65 years old. Yunshuiyao is a scenic town area with 3 km long (2 - 3 hours walk). We hired a chinese speaking guide to accompany us to explain the history of Huaiyan building (square tulou), Hegui building (round tulou), and the town area. It cost RMB100.
The guesthouse is located inside Yunshuiyao town, behind the shop houses, in-between waterwheel and 2 trees (named as husband and wife) aged above 670 years old.
When we reached there at 2.30 pm, it was raining. The hotel staff immediately came out with an umbrella to pick us up and assist with the luggage.
The check-in is fast, and the access to the room is by password, which they will share in Wechat. Checkout is also very easy.
The hotel offered free fruits twice a day, afternoon and evening.
The basic bathroom essentials are complete, and they also provide bathrobes. The bed and pillows are very comfortable for a good night sleep. Luckily the aircond can change to warm mode as it was very cold on raining day.
There's a mini kids playground for children's. The staff were friendly and helpful. The breakfast set come with porridge and soya drink. Can topup if needed more. The in-house restaurant provides lunch & dinner with a la carte chinese foods menu.
The sky brightens at 5 am, while the sun rises high at 6.45am. If you are able to wake up early, this is the best time for you to revisit the town and tulou surrounding area for nice photos and cool breeze as only local people around. There's a roadside stall selling super long youtiao (equal to size of 2 youtiao) located near the stone bridge not far from guesthouse.
The whole Yunshuiyao town is covered with natural peebles pathway. Wear suitable shoes as it will be very slippery during the rainy day.

What made me feel the deepest was the boss's enthusiasm. Although breakfast, lunch and dinner are home-cooked dishes, they taste very good, and the ingredients are all green foods. GGuest UserWhat an amazing experience to live in the “chopsticks” buildings of the four dishes and one soup! This was a small and beautiful village and the family who ran the inn helped us carry our luggage up to the inn and later down to the inn. When we arrived they cooked a dinner which was reasonable in price based on a local menu. And then during dinner, they told us that one of the family members will be running a free tour of the Tulous of four dishes one soup for us in which they explained the history of the building of the tulous, especially the oval shaped tulou. Our guide was very funny with his stories (he spoke in Chinese) and it was a lovely time seeing the artists and candy makers in the Tulous. I would highly recommend this place. We did have to bring our own towels (or at least we brought our own and they didn’t supply one), so maybe best to check.

GGuest UserThe room was very clean and comfortable to live in. The lady boss was very nice. Since we couldn't rent a car, she helped us contact a chartered car driver! By the way, Mr. Zhang, the chartered car owner, is very nice and enthusiastic, explaining the whole process! The location of the B&B is very good. It is in the center of Tasha Village, opposite the hotel. It is very convenient. There are relatively fewer people here, so it is more leisurely and comfortable to live here! The experience was very good. I also tasted the wine brewed by the owner in the tavern downstairs. I will come again if I have the chance and stay a few more days.

The water heater has a large capacity, so you can take a comfortable bath without any problem. It has its own parking lot and is very convenient for self-driving. The location of the B&B is very close to the viewing platform of Four Dishes and One Soup, which has the advantage of seeing the lights and entering the village at night. The landlady usually drinks tea in the front hall. When you pass by and she is free, she will invite you to drink tea and chat with her. The boss will tell you about travel strategies when he has free time, and even take you for a walk in person.

The owner's hospitality was outstanding. He proactively shared route suggestions that helped us avoid numerous inconveniences, saved significant costs, navigated tricky junctions, and led us to many distinctive sights, including fruit groves, forests, and tea fields.
Regarding the accommodations, it's important to remember this is a mountain setting, and with the recent rainy season, facilities are understandably modest. However, the pricing reflects this context and provides an authentic, rustic experience that urban hotels simply can't offer.
Above all, the food here is absolutely scrumptious! Dining in is a must to savor their delicious Hakka-style cuisine.
My biggest takeaway is the owner's genuine warmth and the wonderfully relaxing mountain environment, offering a perfect, temporary escape from the city's ceaseless clamor.
