The room is large, clean and tidy, and the service is very good. The facilities that a hot spring hotel should have are all available in the Dadong Pavilion. Only the hotel is a bit old, and some of the equipment is not recent, but it is cost-effective, and some room types can directly see the Yubatake. The front desk staff is enthusiastic and patient to serve tourists who do not speak the language, and use translation software to introduce in detail the instructions after checking in and the services that guests can enjoy. The hotel has a shuttle bus to pick up and drop off guests at the long-distance bus station and the parking lot. The hotel is a 5-minute walk from the bus station. I only stayed for one night because there are many special restaurants in the town, and the room reservation did not include meals. The hotel has more services and meals that I did not experience. The Dadong Pavilion has a superior geographical location, right in the center of Yuxi. Caoyuan Hot Spring is worthy of being the No. 1 hot spring in Japan. From viewing the scenery, tasting local food, enjoying the hot springs to watching special performances, these aspects make tourists happy and linger.
Overall staying in this hotel was pleasant, and it was of great value considering the package had already included dinner and breakfast buffet.
Regarding location, it was a bit far from the bus terminal by walking. It took us about 15 minutes, as the route by Google was not quite correct. The main entrance of the hotel was up on a slope, which was not as easy as we were carrying luggage.
Remember to ask the front desk for the password of the back gate. It was a short cut route leading to the main shopping street and the Kusatsu Yubatake.
The room was pleasant and clean, a bit too basic. There was only a socket near the tv wall, not close to the bed, which was a bit inconvenient.
There was wide range of food in the buffet, with some interesting local dishes. Food was delicious. The hotel also offer free late night snack noodle, which worth trying too.
Given that the hotel is abit old, the 3 star cleanliness is referring to the old facility at guy side onsen. It’s not maintain well and everything looks old. It’s 10mins walking distance to bus terminal and another 5-6mins to yubatake. Bonus point gives to free shuffle from/to daitokon with the very precise bus schedules.
Room is clean but bear in mind, it’s not non-smoking hotel so might have chance to smell cigarette smell in room. Fortunately, our room is good.
Overall we satisfy with our stay at kusatsu onsen resort.
