During our recent stay at this wonderful hotel, we were exceptionally satisfied with every aspect of our experience. From the moment we arrived, we were greeted warmly by the hotel staff who came out to meet us at the scenic area entrance and assisted with our luggage. This level of service set the tone for our entire visit. The hotel's décor is stunning, creating a serene and visually pleasing environment. Our room was spacious and beautifully appointed, providing a restful haven where we enjoyed a comfortable night's sleep. It truly is a fantastic place to relax and unwind. One of the highlights of our stay was the delightful afternoon tea, particularly the grain snacks which were so delicious that we requested the hotel staff to help purchase and courier some to Shanghai for us to bring home. Their willingness to accommodate our request added a special touch to our experience. Breakfast at the hotel was another standout. The porridge, in particular, was so delectable that the hotel kindly gave us a pack of the rice used to prepare it. This gesture was much appreciated and spoke volumes about their commitment to guest satisfaction. Overall, our stay at this hotel was nothing short of exceptional. We wholeheartedly recommend it to anyone seeking a comfortable and pleasant retreat. If we return to this area, we will undoubtedly choose to stay here again.

Overall an enjoyable and relaxing one night stay at this tiny cosy hotel in Zhouzhuang, for our final leg of our 6 days Suzhou trip. We took a didi over to Zhouzhuang, which was faster and cheaper than I expected, just a little over half an hour. The hotel staff called me the day before to arrange for pick-up near the watertown ticket office. Actually I can't speak Mandarin and their English wasn't too good but we ended up chatting on Wechat as Wechat has a built-in translate function in their chat. So, 15 minutes before we arrive, we just had to let them know on Wechat. And the staff is already waiting for us, helped us with the luggage and guided us through the ticket buying process. You do have to pay for the ¥100 RMB ticket to get into the watertown and the ticket is good for 3 days. The hotel is about a 10 minute walk from the entrance. I picked this hotel because it was right inside the watertown and it had the ancient Chinese interior, although all the amenities are modern, including a robust and high-tech Kohler smart toilets in each bathroom. There is a nice coffee shop inside the hotel and the coffee shop owner is friendly and takes his coffee craft seriously. The hotel gives you 2 free drinks during your stay and the coffee menu is quite extensive. If the hotel rooms are not booked on that day, we are told the hotel opens their doors to coffee customers. The hotel owner is actually younger than I expected so I am impressed she meticulously created this authentic experience and the attention to detail. She was friendly and helpful and was open to accommodating our needs. We booked the entire 2nd floor, which was 3 bedrooms and we had 6 adults in our group. This tiny hotel only has 3 bedrooms so if you booked all 3 rooms, you pretty much get the entire hotel to yourselves which include the first floor which is spacious and comfy. When I visit Zhouzhuang again, I am looking forward to stay here again. It's certainly not cheap, but you do get what you pay for - which is people passionate about hospitality (in a Chinese way) and also a hygiene and staying experience that is certainly up to international standards.

Our experience at this hotel could not have been better—it was truly beyond our expectations. The location is perfect, nestled in a historic house with sophisticated decor that exudes charm and elegance. The staff went above and beyond to please us, attending to every detail with care. Upon arrival, we were welcomed with a delicious afternoon tea, featuring a homemade tiramisu that was absolutely delightful. The staff is well-prepared to receive foreign guests; Miss Yang, in particular, speaks excellent English and is very kind. Overall, we strongly recommend this hotel to anyone seeking a memorable and exceptional stay in Zhouzhuang.

If I could give more than 5/5 for this place, I would. Cleanliness, service and cultural vibes are unparalleled. I have been to more than 25 countries and never have I felt so much at home away from home. This is a gem I would highly recommend anyone seeking to get away from the hustle and bustle of life. The host and her staff gave us home made bread, breakfast, cakes, tea and artisanal coffee. My 12 year old daughter loved it so much she just wanted to stay indoors! Amazing!!

A family of five booked this place. The three rooms are equivalent to private rooms. It feels good that no one will disturb us. After the renovation, the charm of the original residence is still retained, and the rooms are clean and hygienic. Because it is an old house and it is in a scenic area, the sound insulation is not very good, so the housekeeper thoughtfully provided earplugs. Recommended to travelers who want to have another experience, you will definitely have a different experience.

The accommodation experience at Zhouzhuang Mailun Academy (former residence of Shen Tilan) is impressive. This late Qing Dynasty heritage-protected building enclosed by high walls is carefully decorated in a modern Shanghai-style style, retaining the historical charm while incorporating modern comfort and convenience. The accommodation environment is elegant and peaceful, as if you are in an exquisite Jiangnan water town painting. The B&B has complete internal facilities, the rooms are clean and tidy, and the beds are soft and comfortable, allowing you to have a good night's sleep. Especially the scenery of the B&B, whether taking pictures or relaxing, is very stylish and makes people linger. The afternoon tea and breakfast provided by the B&B are also very delicious. While enjoying the delicious food, you can also feel the unique charm of Zhouzhuang. The environment around Mailun Academy is also very beautiful. You can reach various attractions in Zhouzhuang Ancient Town within walking distance, making it very suitable for family outings or couples' vacations. Staying here, you can not only feel the history and culture of Zhouzhuang, but also enjoy a rare tranquility and leisure. In addition, it was a pleasure to chat with the shop owner and the guy in the shop. Their friendly attitude can quickly break down the barriers between strangers and make communication easy and pleasant. The service is very good ~ I also provided a souvenir when I left❤️ I didn’t have the afternoon tea on the first day, and helped pack it for the road the next day) The handmade tiramisu was super delicious 👍 The room was clean and comfortable, even though I was on the road There will be some noise but it will not affect your sleep. Someone will help you bring your luggage into Zhouzhuang District, but it is still recommended to pack your luggage in small bags🧳

In the ancient town of Zhouzhuang, there is a full-style "Mailun Academy". This is a late Qing Dynasty building with a high-walled triple courtyard. It was once the former residence of Shen Tilan, a patriotic democrat and famous educator. The ancient buildings along the river exude a unique style after careful renovation. Living here feels like home, the care taken is considerate, and I feel the surprise beyond the beautiful scenery! The hand-brewed coffee and old white tea are unforgettable, and I look forward to coming back next time!

Shen Tilan's former residence, a treasure B&B in Zhouzhuang, is a quiet corner of the May Day crowd, a perfect blend of history and modernity. The scenery is exquisite and stylish. It's very nice to take pictures. The afternoon tea and breakfast are delicious. The tatami room we stayed in is also very interesting. The owner is very attentive. My wife likes it. I must come here if I live in Zhouzhuang.

This should be the best hotel experience I have had in many, many years, whether for business or travel. Mr. Shen Tilan's former residence is full of Soviet-style architecture and the style of the Republic of China, and the tone is straight forward. Especially when the three rooms upstairs are occupied by the whole family, it feels like being alone in the bustling city and the terrifying flow of people. A peaceful and comfortable world. Exquisite and delicious refreshments and drinks are provided in unlimited quantities, which really makes people feel at home.

Five-star service, great experience, the only regret is that I only booked one night!

The location of the room is very good. It is very convenient in the scenic area. It is a B&B renovated from Shen Tilan's former residence. It is very meticulous in every aspect. There are even disinfectant wipes prepared in the bathroom, which is not found in five-star hotels. The butler's service is very considerate, highly recommended.
