Good location, services, and foods. But its onsen (hot spring bath) is a bit small.

It is an older hot spring hotel. If you stop by Kotohira-machi, you can try it out.
Due to old age, the corridors do not look that clean, but the overall rooms are actually okay.
There is an indoor hot spring on the sixth floor and an open-air hot spring on the rooftop on the eighth floor. You can take a dip if you like, which is good.
I made an appointment at a relatively cheap price of more than 300 yuan, so I can give it a try.
It's a Showa-era hotel, but not in a good way. The rooms are inconvenient and have a strange smell. You get used to the smell, so it's not a big problem, but it leaves a bad first impression. The location is good, there is a hot spring, and the food is delicious. The staff are also nice. They seem to be working hard to liven up this old hotel, and I like that about them. The open-air bath on the roof is too open, and even the washing area is open, so it was too cold in March to go in.

I was a little worried after reading the reviews on TripAdvisor and Rakuten Travel beforehand, but it wasn't as bad as I expected. In fact, I think it was very comfortable and the customer service was kind. The building, especially the common areas (corridors and elevators), is certainly run down, but I only spent a few minutes in the common areas during my stay, so it didn't bother me. The room was quite clean and didn't have any smells like some other reviews said. However, there aren't many electrical outlets, so if you're worried about that, I think it's a good idea to bring an extension cord. I did so. The hot spring is open-air on the rooftop on the first day, and indoors on the second day. The rooftop open air was so sunny that the floor was hot, but other than that, the view was nice and relaxing. The indoor bath was also quite beautiful. My wife used the private bath (2,200 yen for 40 minutes) and said it was nice and clean. The meals were especially delicious: sashimi, boiled seafood, and kamameshi on the first day, and three appetizers, kakuni, and sashimi on the second day. The customer service at the restaurant was also kind. Regarding transportation, I went by plane, but the airport bus has a bus stop in front of the inn and I can get off, and the airport bus stop for the return trip is also convenient as it is less than a 5 minute walk. There is a convenience store nearby, and of course the approach to Kotohira Shrine is also nearby. Unless you're a fan of luxury inns, I think it's a good deal considering the cost performance. By the way, I stay at ultra-luxury hotels (Marriott Category 8, Imperial Hotel, hotels that represent the country overseas, etc.), ultra-luxury inns, and even stayed at manga cafes when I was short on money. Considering the cost performance, I think a rating of 4 is sufficient.
