"Absolutely loved everything about this place! I stayed overnight with my friend and her family. Yuta (owner's son) and his mother went above and beyond to give us spectacular experience! Food was top quality, facility was extremely clean, Onsen water was so silky, delicious Gelato and good opportunity to try varieties of Japanese alcohol. "It's along the national highway, but it's very nice to be surrounded by forests. The sauna was also water-cool, but the thick bath next to it was the best. Bogey was my first experience, but by the time I went around for two weeks, I was working in a corner while spinning. Even at this time of year, it was cold at night, and I enjoyed the fluctuation of cooking firewood and watching the cup. Miyakonojo City, Miyazaki Prefecture was humid, but it was the best without the humidity of Shari Town. Thank you. I will visit you again."

"The space is very large. It is more than enough to live in a family. Plus the kitchen can cook by yourself. It is quite cost-effective for this price. I lived quite satisfied two years ago and came back again. There are some changes. The kitchen no longer provides simple seasonings. You need to bring your own."

"Fantastic Onsen hotel..located on the hill top, all rooms assigned overlooking into the OKHOTSK SEA, with huge room and shower room are separated from the WC. The hotel provide a shuttle bus from UTORO ONSEN BUS TERMINAL and will pick up guests from here. Another good point is,there is a Airport Bus Liner which comes direct to the hotel to pick guestyfor drop off at Shiretoko Shari Bus terminal enroute to Mambabetsu Airport. The breakfast is really yummy with lots of spread however the buffet dinner is average and the same spread for the two nites I stayed. Where else the ONSEN, I would give a 4/5. Another good point to note is those coming by train to Shiretoko Shari station, opposite is the Shari Bus terminal which provides transer to the UTORO ONSEN BUS TERMINAL.in about 50 mins. Overall Shireto Daiichi Hotel is a big luxurious hotel and they provide shuttle for onwards bus transfer to the SHIRETOKO NATURE PARK which is so beautiful to wander out to seek nature's awesomeness."

"Our third consecutive stay in Japan’s onsen scene brought us to Kitakobushi Shiretoko Hotel & Resort. Though labelled as a 3-star hotel, this resort is the very definition of an underrated masterpiece. From the moment we arrived, it became clear this experience would rival any five-star destination we’ve ever visited. Our room was a slice of paradise—spacious, serene, and offering a panoramic view of the breathtaking sea. Perfect for a moment of calm after a day of exploring. It was hard to tear ourselves away from the window, with its infinite horizon stretching beyond the blue waters. The bath experience was equally indulgent, with Dyson and Refa hairdryers in the public bath area. The soap and shampoo provided in the public baths? Luxurious, premium products that they also retail on-site. A small but significant touch that elevates this from your average onsen. Where do I even begin with the buffet? It was nothing short of culinary theatre. Imagine live cooking stations serving up dishes with the flair of a fine dining restaurant. From sashimi so fresh, it redefined how I think about lean tuna—the texture was almost reminiscent of beef!—to the incredibly generous portions of salmon roe. Each dish was top-tier, but the dessert station truly took my breath away. A unique pumpkin and sweet potato creation was the surprise highlight, and I couldn’t help but indulge in multiple helpings of the organic apple, crisp and fresh like it was picked that very morning. For fitness enthusiasts, there’s even a decent gym—a rarity for many onsen hotels. Meanwhile, the 24-hour lounge provides a range of delectable snacks, all of which are sold in their store. And though the prices may seem steep, the taste makes them worth every yen. The free daily scoop of Peter Beier ice cream was simply divine. Made with Hokkaido milk, the vanilla was already a showstopper, but the pistachio took the experience to another level. After this, it was impossible not to purchase their chocolate truffles—pricey, but easily worth the splurge. The experience extends outside the hotel, where an outdoor foot bath awaits with a view that will make you feel like you’ve entered another world. As long as the weather cooperates, this is an experience not to be missed. In short, Kitakobushi Shiretoko Hotel & Resort might officially be a 3-star, but in our hearts, it’s a five-star experience through and through. A perfect blend of luxury, nature, and comfort, it’s an onsen resort that deserves to be on every discerning traveller’s radar."

"Take the Shiretoko Line from JR Shiretoko Shari Station to Michi-no-Eki Utaro (the bus has the Chinese station name displayed), and walk about 350 meters to the hotel. The hotel lobby is bright and atmospheric, and the front desk service is warm. The hotel rooms are spacious, clean and tidy, and all the facilities in the room are well maintained. We booked a sea view room, and each room has a balcony. The room bathroom is separated into dry and wet areas, and the bathroom is large and comfortable. In addition, the hotel has hot springs, so you need to pay an additional 150 yen hot spring tax per person, which will be paid at the front desk when you check out. The hotel breakfast ends at 8:30, and the waiter will come to remind you around 8:20, and then they start to clean up the food on the self-service table at 8:30. The Japanese are really punctual. We participated in the drift ice walk at 6:30 in the morning. When the travel agency sent us back to the hotel, it was already 8 o'clock. Everyone was starving, so a group of people rushed to the hotel to have breakfast... We saw the Japanese at the next table taking the small hot pot on the self-service table to cook beef, so we also cooked it. I still remember the surprise when the beef was put into my mouth! It was fragrant and tender. If it weren't for the lack of time 😂 we would definitely show off a lot~"

"The room is very good. It is really nice to have a five-star hotel in such an inconvenient place. I booked a one-night stay and two-night stay, but it is not very convenient on the mountain. It can only be picked up by phone at the Utoro Bus Center. Because I stayed in the Chief the night before, I had to rush to the Shiretoko Center early in the morning. I didn't want to carry my luggage. I booked a hike in the afternoon. The driver would take me to Kiki. But the luggage couldn't walk, so I wanted to go to Kiki to store my luggage first. Time was a bit tight, so the lady boss of the Chief took me up. In addition to transportation, this hotel is good, with large rooms, free hot springs, and very few people. There are free popsicles and drinks at the door, and there is a forest-themed rest area in the lobby with free coffee, chocolate cookies and cheese. As for the meals, there are many dishes, but the variety is not rich. The taste is also average, but the milk and fruit are good~"

"The hotel is located halfway up the mountain. It is a very quiet and large hotel. You can watch the sunset over the sea at night. It is more than 1 km away from the bus station, which takes about 20 minutes to walk. Eating is not very convenient. You can choose to buy hotel food or go down the mountain. The hotel has a specialty store. The hotel room is very large, with thick carpets that are very comfortable to step on. There is also a large hot spring pool, which is open for a long time, from 3 pm to 9 am the next day. If there are too many people and you are embarrassed to go, you can wait until midnight to go, haha. The hotel's yukata is also very nice, a sky blue one with a short coat on the outside. Then there is a bus pick-up point to Memanbetsu Airport at the entrance of the hotel, which is very convenient."

"Loved it. Really comfy lounge area with floor to ceiling windows ocean view which invites you to sit down and relax. Kitchen next to it was open clean and functional. Room was basic with toilet and vanity area but again faced the ocean with floor to ceiling windows which made it special. Again onsen had the same views with sauna and cold bath. For those with no cara bit of a walk into town. Highly recommend."
