The Garner Hotel Reading City Centre, located in the heart of Reading’s town centre, offers a prime location alongside the Oracle Shopping Centre and is just a short walk from Reading main train station, providing excellent links to London, including the Elizabeth Line. The hotel features 53 newly refurbished en-suite bedrooms, equipped with air conditioning and offers on-site parking. It’s just a 10-minute drive to the Madjeski Stadium and 5 minutes to the University of Reading making it a great choice for both business and leisure travellers. The hotel’s proximity to green areas provides a perfect escape to connect with nature. We also offer modern conference facilities that accommodate 2 to 80 people, all complemented by a bright lobby and a 24/7 Garner Shop for convenience.

"The hotel's location is excellent, right in the center of Reading. It's incredibly convenient, with shops, department stores, restaurants, cafes, and Reading train station all within walking distance. The hotel's decor is outstanding, and the facilities are brand new. The staff are very friendly and polite. However, a downside is that the hotel doesn't have a lift, and the staircases are quite narrow. If you have large luggage, it would be better to choose a room on a lower floor."

"It was a nice comfortable room and stay. Cost effective with breakfast. Systems were down so checking was delayed and held us up. Room was too far for my sister to walk as she suffered with a leg injury and found it difficult to walk to and from the room. Accessibility was not considered despite noting it on the booking so she couldn't have the desired shower room as expected. Could be because of the system issue. The room was spacious and nice, hall a little bland, hall carpet a little tarnished possibly due to footballers and co footfall as it's connected to the stadium so perfect for footballers and families at match time. Entrance clean and inviting. There are 2 floors ,no lift so this must be considered if you cannot walk far. Lobby and breakfast hall was clean, and buffet breakfast was nice. Staff were friendly. FYi- my uncle received complimentary benefits for the long check in issues and delays. My sister and I didn't although it would have been nice too, since we waited long also. Overall it was nice but and I would stay again."

"Located in the city center, a five-minute walk from the train station, there are many surrounding living facilities. The rooms are clean and well-equipped and cleaned once a week. There is no air conditioner and the temperature in Britain has been high recently, which is a bit difficult to receive. In addition, the surrounding bars were full of enthusiasm and it was not until the middle of the night that they could be quiet."

"Nice place for a couple of nights, the hot water needs regulating as it gets too hot, so have to play about with the cold water to get it right. Tv weird as it has no standard channels but you can watch Netflix and Amazon."

CCthheulnsdeearThe hotel is conveniently located, about a 4 to 5-minute walk from Reading train station. However, the hotel is generally quite old, and many facilities are in need of maintenance. The shower temperature was very difficult to control, and the fridge wasn't working properly. The room itself was spacious, and the price was more affordable compared to hotels in London. Breakfast was excellent value for money at just £13, with a wide variety of food options. The staff were friendly and very willing to help.

GGuest User**3-Star Review for voco Hotel** I recently stayed at a voco hotel and had a mixed experience. The hotel has a modern and vibrant atmosphere that I really enjoyed upon arrival. The décor is stylish, and the overall ambiance is inviting. The staff were friendly and helpful, ensuring a warm welcome during check-in. However, there were a few areas that could use improvement. While the room was clean and well-appointed, I found it to be smaller than I expected, which made it a bit cramped for two guests. Additionally, I encountered some minor issues with the amenities; for instance, the Wi-Fi was somewhat unreliable at times, which was frustrating during my stay. The hotel's location was decent, with several restaurants and attractions within walking distance, but it wasn't as central as I had hoped. Overall, voco has a great concept with its focus on sustainability and unique twists, but a few tweaks could enhance the overall experience. I would consider staying again, but with slightly lower expectations.

GGuest UserThe experience was average, you can tell the facilities are aging since the shower basin started turning yellow at parts. The duvet was also very old and not too well cleaned since it caused my eczema prone skin to breakout, which the Airbnb I stayed at in the same town did not cause.

GGuest UserWe had a lovely stay here for a wedding 15 minutes drive away. The staff were very helpful and accommodating at all times. The only comment I would like to raise is that we were given room 9 which was described as an accessible room (which we didn’t need) but it was completely inappropriate as accessible as the shower ( which was in the bath) would have been completely unsuitable for a wheelchair user, or someone else with difficulty moving who wouldn’t have been able to climb into the bath to use it. Breakfast was excellent.

RraffzThe staff is friendly and polite. Although it’s a bit of a drive from Newbury and closer to Thatcham, the location isn’t too bad. There are even public transport links, with a bus stop outside on the line that connects Newbury to Reading. I haven’t tried the food yet, as it seemed a bit expensive to me. However, there’s a pub nearby that serves excellent food. Unfortunately, there’s no air conditioning, but fans are provided.

GGuest UserAfter requesting a quiet room due to having our 11 month old with us we were placed directly above the function suite for a wedding and while testing the sound system the floor below are feet curated and the noise was crazy. The moved us rooms out of the original Manor House we requested and into the furthest room possible from all amenities on offer smaller than our original room, 3rd floor and no lift with a baby in a pram and lots of luggage. The room was also unbearably hot and a crazy sensor/light in the bathroom kept our son (and them us) all night. Not sure if recommended staying here. .

GGuest UserVery good in terms of location, A nice little walk to the centre but far enough out that you don’t really get the noise of the late night drinkers (sat/friday). The room was a decent size for what we paid, nice shower and bathroom small but good for the money we paid. However, the room was really really hot. We had to sleep with both windows open, AC didn’t work at all. The TV has all the normal channels and it worked perfectly. The coffee machine area downstairs was helpful however they didnt give us any cups, put any available out for people to grab or tell us that they even had any. No tea bags or little things of milk which would have been helpful. The machine does make tea however we both werent sure how useful/good it would have been. I would definitely recommend this hotel for a cheap stay in reading.

SScarlyThe hotel staff are friendly and helpful, and will promptly handle any issues you raise. The hotel's decoration and furniture are outdated, and the bathroom should be renovated. The overall appearance of the hotel and the rooms are neat and clean; the surrounding environment is quiet. It takes about 12-15 minutes to drive to the city center, which is suitable for self-driving tourists. Parking is included in the room rate, saving you the trouble of paying for parking separately.

88A8It was our first time booking here, and we didn't expect much for the price. Despite bad reviews, our experience was pleasant. The reception staff were polite, and the room was fine. We could hear footsteps from upstairs, and the wall was a bit damaged, likely due to refurbishing, but it didn’t bother us. Overall, everything was good, and we might return once it's fully refurbished. Thanks!
