2-Star Hotels in Hoi An

We checked into Southern Hotel Hoi An an hour before check-in time. Lin and her team were gracious enough to make a good room with a balcony available for us immediately. The service, amenities, comfort and location were outstanding. We were just a short walk away from both the Night Market and the Japanese bridge which meant peace and solitude at night when the town was partying loudly. A big plus in our book was the breakfast spread that was included with our room. The only thing I would suggest is ensuring that all rooms get a good wi fi connection because ours (302) was a bit sketchy. Overall it was an amazing stay... complete value for money.

What a nightmare 13 days prior to my stay I booked a room for 2 nights with window via Agoda. The room was called ”Valcony room” which was confirmed. One day prior to our arrival I received a new confirmation per email and the room was now called ”Superior Double or Twin Room (Without Window & view)”. I purposely booked a room with window which was more expensive and now short before I get there, everything is changed. I contacted the hotel and Agoda and both told me that this is what I booked in the first place. Agoda's initial confirmation only stated ”Valcony room” and on none of their confirmation documents, were any details regarding ”Valcony room” to be found. At this time this room category was no longer on Agoda. Agoda's response was: do you have a screen shot of what the ”Valcony room” offers, no I did not, I was not aware that something like this was necessary. I asked them to send me a screen shot of room category called Valcony room, but they did not do this. Arriving at the hotel the manager told me that the price I had booked the room for, only ever offers a room without window in his hotel, but I 100% took the more expensive room because I specifically wanted a window. The owner ended up upgrading me to the family room with window which usually costs double the price which I was paying. the night before arriving at the hotel I was up all night initially contacting the hotel and writing back and forth with Agoda customer service... I don't know anyone who would like this mess during their vacation. Yes the hotel and room was clean. The breakfast was not more than mediocre and although they are called Pho hotel and had a sign for soup they did not offer any. Also when asking if we could get breakfast before 7 am they did not propose anything at all, it was not possible. I will avoid using Agoda in the future and will never revisit this hotel.

Seriously, there are countless homestays, and the most intimate is this time. The boss is originally from Shanghai. Although he doesn't speak much Chinese, he is also a descendant of China. I am very touched by his care for the Chinese. From all the food, lodging and transportation in Hoi An, don’t worry, leave it to him, trust me, that’s right

First of all.. the receptionist ladies were absolutely fantastic, fun, energetic, welcoming and very helpful. A great company needs great people to be their 'face' of the company.. and Kellie, Moon and Lena are definately 3 of those kind of people. Could not fault anything about them.. well done and thank you to all 3 ladies... Wish you all the best :) The Hotel - great location, great value for money... Bed was huge.. pillows (x4) soft and cosy and the WiFi was very stable and did not 'cut' out. Overall a great stay for 3 nights.

I think one of the reasons that makes Hoi An so attractive is that the local people are so friendly. Just as Koreans have affection, this place is also full of affection. Personally, I came here for a cooking class because there was a local market nearby. The family living at home are really kind and helped me more than anyone else during this trip. I received help with nearby restaurants, things to do in Hoi An, and even bus routes for departure. I liked it so much that I stayed a day longer than planned, but I had a lot to think about. However, if you want to be treated with respect like a hotel, go to a hotel. This is a homestay. It is a place where you can interact directly with the locals and feel the atmosphere of this place. I really recommend this place to anyone who wants to experience the modern family culture of Hoi An while backpacking. I don't often write reviews, but this place makes me want to write one.

More like a hotel then a homestay, amazing place. We were supposed to only be there for two night but we extended our stay for two more. The girls are super nice and helpful, the drove me to the police twice on their own scooters (without wanting anything in exchange, not even gas money) because of some issues with my passport. The breakfast is amazing, you can get anything from a buffet that has fresh fruit, coffee, tea, juice, cereal and milk, two kind of toast, jam, butter and little pastries… and you can also order something a la carte every morning (we had two dishes each). A breakfast like this got us going till 4 pm every day. The rooms are clean and the beds are comfortable, and we really loved to swim in the pool. The homestay provides free bikes to go around and you can also rent a scooter. Overall the best stay during our trip to Vietnam :)

Based on the Tripadvisor excellent reviews , I chose to stay with Miss Ten . Hoi Ann was my first stop for Central Vietnam so I was hoping to have a good start by staying here . Unfortunately, my first impressions were far from pleasant. I reread the reviews and thought I might have booked the wrong place but judging from the photos , it was clear that there was no mistake- this was the same Miss Ten Homestay which everyone was raving about. I had arrived a day later than anticipated due to a flight change but nevertheless I paid for the first night . I immediately informed Miss Ten of the flight change and she responded by stating that the room was cleaned and ready for my arrival. I arrived at mid-morning the next day and was promptly ushered to my ” deluxe” room on the top floor with a balcony. The room was bright and airy with the curtains aside and it was in a relatively quiet street. I went to the bathroom and , to my annoyance, a light was not working ; it was dimly lit with only 1 light . I informed Miss Ten of this and she said her husband was not around and I should be alright with one light. I was tired so I did not want to make a big deal out of it. However, this was a foreboding of what was to come......... As I was reaching out for the soap to wash my hands , to my horror, 2 pieces of used soap were sitting in a horrendous filthy soap dish. I proceeded to rinse my hands without the soap. I then decided to lay down for a while as I was tired and went to draw the curtains. After a short nap, I woke up to turn on the lights in the room. To my annoyance, only 1 light was working in the whole room -all the other 5 bulbs were blown or not working at all! I quickly went down and tried to tell Miss Ten about the soaps and the lights . She came upstairs with me and was very defensive , as if I was being difficult and said most people would not mind used soaps, implying I should not mind as well. In any event, she reluctantly brought in 2 bars of soap and in a hostile manner, removed the filthy soap dish and angrily tore the paper covering of a new bar of mini soap and threw it by the side of the sink. Because of her behaviour , I then mentioned that I booked her place due to the Tripadvisor reviews and I felt disappointed. She left the room in a huff. An hour later, I came down the stairs to venture out to town and she was seated at one of her dining tables. She said she thought about my complaints and apologised for her behaviour. Fortunately, our stay for the next 3 days were uneventful . However, Miss Ten made a point to inform me that she will clean my room every day and had cleaned the bathroom for me when I returned from town. Pros for this homestay :- (1) It is situated in a quiet street away from the bustle but very walkable to the old town and night market so its location was excellent . (2) Shower pressure was reasonably strong. (3) The room itself with a balcony with the windows open is bright and airy.
