Hangzhou Hofang Hostel Reviews

Location is within the compound after the entrance of the drum tower in Hefang Street in Hangzhou. Convenient place for food etc and it’s a beautiful place especially at night. The hotel is ok for the affordable price. No lifts and room is not sound proof. But the street is quite quiet at night after the shops closes. Overall recommended for travellers who are visiting on a budget where the accommodation is just a place to sleep.

The hotel is very well located, close to many nice shops, ideal to buy handmade souvenirs by local artisans. The staff speaks little English but was very helpful. The double room was large, clean and well equipped. They have a deal with the bar in front for breakfast but the bar opens quite late (impossible to get a breakfast before 08:30). All in all a nice place to stay in Hangzhou.

You will hardly be able to find the entrance if you don't know Hanzi. The place is amid the tourist neighborhood so it's very ambient but you won't be able to use taxi ride to the hostel. There's a disgusting smell inside the room because of fungus. I think the sanitary rules were much stricter in the times of South Song dynasty than today. The furniture needs renovation. No soap, no shampoo, no towel - you go elsewhere and buy. So I think you'd better start with going elsewhere, a different hotel, not this place.

We booked more nights than we originally planned. This place is perfect for travelers. Authentic, Nature, Culture, Friendly, 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼

Nice place no problems always again

Very good location; friendly front desk staff. This hostel has been around for a long time and is showing its age. I was surprised to be told I had to pay for hand soap given that I was staying in one of the single rooms and was paying over $40 a night. I don't think that's ever happened to me while traveling in China. Toilet paper and towels were also very threadbare. The hostel is probably best for solo travelers looking for super cheap bunks - at the single-room price point, there are many options in Hangzhou that are more modern and provide more amenities.
