I stayed for several days at both the Victoria Hotel and also visit the connected by the rooftop their sister hotel, The Palace. You have to start with the fact that these are not 4* and 5* hotels. Perhaps they were when they opened 20 years ago, today it is a maximum of 3* and 3.5*. They are simply dated, you can see it and smell it. If we are aware of it, almost everything else is ok: very friendly service (special thanks to the nice, elderly man at the reception), tasty and varied breakfasts, cozy swimming pools and rooftop bar. The quality of cleaning the rooms needs improvement, the location of the rooms is cruicial (avoid rooms from the driveway for deliveries, unless you like to hear knocks and screams from 6am onwards). And the price: if you manage to find an offer up to 100e / day, that's ok, above that is not worth it.
Opened in 2023, the Barceló Fortina Malta is a great accommodation choice in Sliema. Malta International Airport is located approximately 11km away from this hotel. This hotel is located near many of Sliema's attractions including St. John's Co-Cathedral, Fond Għadir Beach and The Malta Experience. After a long day of sightseeing, guests can retire to the comfort of the hotel. This Sliema hotel offers parking on site. For guests traveling as a couple, this hotel is consistently one of the most popular choices.

A staycation while living in Malta. The room was not too small, so it didn't feel stuffy at all, and the view of Valletta was perfect! The outdoor pool was especially pretty, and the breakfast was also good because there was a lot to eat.

My Wife and I stayed at the wonderful Preluna 28th June 2023 for 7 nights. This was the first time we had visited Malta (and will be the first of many more) We couldn’t have wished for a nicer hotel, everything was perfect. We booked a room with a Seaview which was a good choice, as the views over Sliema bay were excellent. Our room was spacious, comfortable (air conditioning combined with overhead fan was very refreshing) We had taken the option of half board and didn’t regret it. The food at breakfast was excellent, with a really good choice of warm and cold. Evening meals were even better, with an amazing selection of food each night, Preluna really did cater for everyone’s tastes. Location of hotel was superb, with the bus stops for either direction less than a two-minute walk away. The indoor swimming pool was worth a visit too, although we didn’t get chance to visit the outside pool. Valetta was only 30 minutes away either by bus or water taxi (which was an easy walk to the other side of Sliema) Sliema is a lovely town with plenty of shops, where you could buy anything, you required. We visited Valetta on numerous occasions on our stay In Malta, and were really impressed at the architecture, museums, and other places of interest. Gozo was also worth a visit, we caught the fast ferry from Valetta, then hired a private taxi for a tour of the island (highly recommended, as the bus service wasn’t as regular as on Malta. The staff at Preluna were very approachable and answered any queries we had promptly. Would recommend a stay at the wonderful Preluna Hotel, we hope to be back soon.

The original Victoria Hotel was closed for a while and was tied up in a new hotel next door (PALACE). I heard that it is a hotel operated in the same place as PALACE. You must have just been lucky.
Ligament opposite the church. The facilities were really good. Breakfast was also dinner, but dinner and taste were delicious in the 9th floor lounge. The view was beautiful. It's a pity that all the pictures haven't been uploaded. There is a large supermarket right around the corner. The bus stop was also a 5-10 minute walk. The people at the desk were kind. There was no problem with staying in Jegicho English. The lounge on the 9th floor is highly recommended (Thai beef salad around 9 euros) Beach sandals and towels can be purchased at a reasonable price at a store near the beach, so it was a place where you can enjoy swimming in the water casually even if you come empty-handed.

I had the pleasure of staying at the Courtyard Marriott in Sliema, Malta, and it was an incredible experience from start to finish. The service was outstanding, with the staff going above and beyond to make sure my stay was as comfortable and memorable as possible. I was visiting during my birthday, and the attention to detail truly stood out. Not only did they acknowledge my special day, but they also surprised me with a lovely birthday card, a delicious cake, and a bottle of wine delivered straight to my room! This thoughtful gesture made my birthday even more special. The hotel itself is beautiful, modern, and well-maintained, and the location is perfect for exploring Sliema and nearby areas. I couldn’t have asked for a better stay. Highly recommend to anyone visiting Malta, and I’ll definitely be back!

I was so grateful for the room upgrade, but it was right in front of the elevator and when I left the bathroom door open, the smell of the sewer was so bad. Still, it was nice to have a cookie-like service. The staff were very friendly and the spa was great.

MMatiki AI stayed at this lovely hotel while I was working on a huge movie. The room was maintained beautifully and the view was breathtaking…. The breakfast was the best part of the day with one standout member of staff. Marleny was the best part of staying there. Her warm spirit and captivating personality made it an extra special stay. Actually ALL the breakfast staff were lovely…The cleaning crew were also lovely. The front desk personnel were also fantastic and very accommodating with the expectation of one man ( not sure of his name, but he was larger with some type of ponytail) he spoke very harshly and condescending to me on two occasions and I found him dismissive and rude…Other than that, the experience was wonderful. The GM was also a lovely lady and made sure we had passes to the gym and spa that were not on the premises. A wonderful experience overall.
GGuest UserThis hotel is ideally situated in Sliema. Not on the main boulevard, which means not as much traffic/noise, but a mere 2 minute walk to get to the hussle and bussle of the boulevard. Our room was on the 6th floor at the back of the hotel, which meant it was super quiet (only a church bell could be heard). Large room with extra pullout chair. Safe and little fridge available which were a welcome bonus. Bathroom large as well. Unfortunately, it did get quite hot in the bathroom because there was no window which we could open. The aircon in the room did help a little, but only when the door of the bathroom was left open. One of the twin beds had some issues with springs sticking out. This made for uncomfortable sleeping. The other bed creaked, making a lot of noise. This was mentioned to the front desk and dealt with promptly. Room otherwise fine and clean. Breakfast was fine. Lots of sweets, but also bread, croissants, fruit (salad), scrambled egg, sausage, bacon, cereals, yoghurt and more. All staff were very friendly and helpful. Overall we really liked this hotel for many reasons. We would definitely choose Mr Todd again if we went to Malta.
GGuest UserClean hotel, cleaning is very well done. The coffee on the ground floor is great. Only downside is having to go back to the Mr Todd hotel down the street for check in and check out, and the balcony with the view on a wall is not nice....
GGuest UserAfter much deliberation for location and hotel for our stay in Malta we chose 'The Regency Plaza, Sliema*' and after a fantastic week here we know that we chose well. Very happy with the hotel from the reception - happy to help with anything and everything, baggage storage (until our room was ready), our room, the bed, the view, the pool (outdoor one is blooming cold but who cares!), the breakfast choice to most importantly, location! It's important to know that *Sliema is massive and where the ferries go from. This hotel is quite a distance from there (although easily walkable) and is actually situated in Exiles Bay (Bus stop is actually Antik - right outside the hotel) a much quieter and prettier area. We were put on the 5th floor and were so glad as the views were superb and also the outside noise isn't as intense, but the sliding door to the balcony is very effective at cutting out the noise anyway. I loved to sit and watch the world go by early morning and evening - people jogging, walking, taking dogs for a walk or the may electric scooters whizzing by. We had no trouble sleeping nor did we hear any other noise (like music or road traffic etc). There are a couple of nice bars/restaurants opposite the hotel and directly out of the hotel entrances (yes, there are two receptions and entrances) is a pizza place (which you walk through to get in) and a Costa Coffee shop. Our room was a reasonable size and had all the amenities we needed - safe, hairdryer, plenty storage, a nice shower (but you do have to pay extra for coffee making facilities) but the toilet took forever to re-fill after a flush - a tad annoying but nothing I'd really moan about. The shower had some marks on the grouting but overall the room was very clean and the maids came everyday. Bed was comfortable and blackout curtains ensured a good nights sleep. Breakfast was a very, very typical European hotel offering. Cooked sausages, bacon, eggs, beans, tomatoes etc. Plenty choice of break, fruit, meats and cheese. Lovely fresh cooked warm croissants with a choice of jams, chocolate sauce and more. Coffee and juice via machines and waitresses very efficently cleaning up after you as soon as you are done, so no clutter of plates on tables etc. As mention, the top floor swimming pool was excellent but really cold. We found this both bracing and refreshing on the warmer days, plenty of sunloungers, a pool bar and mutliple level seating (as there are two sides to the hotel, you can cross over). We got a 7 day bus travel card for €21 each and we used them to death as it is so simple to get anywhere on the island by bus. They are clean, frequent and convenient. The bus stops are right outside the hotel for either direction. They can get full during 'rush hours' but that's always part of the charm of travel by bus we find! The location of the hotel we found was perfect, not only for bus/ferry travel but for bars and restaurants and even swimming. There is a wide pedestrian boulevard that
A central hotel with stunning views overlooking the seafront of Sliema, Valletta to the left, and the busy promenade. We praise the cleaners who kept the rooms spotless and were helpful when we asked for extra pillows and towels. Our room was cleaned around 14.00. The reception staff was always smiling, and check-in was efficient. We e-mailed the hotel a week before our arrival to confirm the booking; just a precaution to avoid any mishaps upon arrival. There were plenty of breakfast choices, including cooked and cold cuts, yogurts, pastries, four types of juices (machine), and a selection of beverages (machine). The breakfast area was on the eighth floor, the perfect setting for starting the day. People were taking selfies and loving it! The manager seemed to work around the clock; he was present during breakfast, clearing tables and supervising the staff. The hotel is slightly dated but clean. One of the lifts had issues one day, and the other was slow, but we had no trouble taking the stairs—free exercise. There is a restaurant on the premises on the ground floor. We did not try it, but the staff always greeted us friendly as we passed on our way in or out. There is a mini fridge in the room. Two bottles of water were waiting for us upon arrival, and there was a kettle with a selection of coffee and black tea. The kettle was nice and clean inside. We enjoyed the view from the balcony and were lucky to see the fireworks show from Valletta. Thank you, Marina Hotel. We highly recommend this hotel to anyone who is looking for a clean and central hotel in Sliema.
We stayed at Europa hotel for 3 nights. It's located across the road from the Mediterranean sea(Yes just across the road!!), in Sliema, a lively town(especially at night). Our room was like brand new with a king size bed and a spotless bathroom with hot water 24 hours a day. The room had a flat screen TV, AC/heater and was spacious. Room was cleaned everyday with towels & toiletries changed as well. From the airport, just outside arrivals, a bus takes you to sliema and drops you at Ghadir stop just 1 min walk from the hotel. A short walk from the hotel is Sliema waterfront with shops and restaurants and a ferry service. You can get a 10 mins inexpensive ferry to the capital Valletta from the harbour in Sliema. Also, buses from the bus stop across the road from Europa hotel go to Rabat and Mdina so it's very good location wise. Staff was very polite and helpful and the hotel has a dining area by the main reception where you can have/order food or just wait and relax. There is a lift in the hotel. A++ to Europa hotel from our side.
The location boasted proximity to the coast, shops, and restaurants. However, the room itself presented numerous issues: 1. Despite attempts to invite natural light, the room remained excessively dark due to taped or covered windows, offering only a shaft-view. This created a nearly pitch-black atmosphere, accompanied by disruptive sounds such as water dripping from the air conditioning unit or clicking noises. 2. Persistent clicking noises persisted both with the window open and closed, significantly disrupting sleep. 3. The room did not align with the amenities depicted in online photos, such as a missing table and chairs, leading to a sense of false advertising. Additionally, there was no mention of the shaft-view or the lack of natural light. 4. Cleanliness was lacking, with visible stains on the sink and bathroom wall, leaving an unpleasant odor. 5. Despite promises of Wi-Fi, it only functioned on the first day, causing inconvenience despite efforts by the receptionist to rectify the issue. 6. A displeasing odor upon entry suggested inadequate ventilation or cleanliness standards. 7. The room featured worn-down furnishings, reflecting a lack of investment in maintaining a comfortable environment, contributing to an overall disappointing and depressing ambiance. 8. Difficulty in regulating the water temperature in the shower added further discomfort, swinging between cold and scalding hot. 9. The lack of a duvet and provision of only a thin sheet offered inadequate protection during winter months. 10. Requests to change rooms proved futile, as alternatives offered were disappointingly similar, indicating persistent issues with standard accommodations. 11. The hotel staff's refusal to provide a stay invoice and redirecting responsibility to the booking platform added unnecessary frustration, reflecting a disappointing level of customer service. Ultimately, the hotel's refusal to provide compensation or accept responsibility led to the guest checking out early, resulting in the loss of money and the need to book alternative accommodations.
GGuest UserGreat service-clean hotel This is the first review I have written for a hotel The hotel was great !the reason I am writing this review is because of the hotel staff. This was an first visit to Malta and with their help.suggestion and gudisncs we had a great experience. Our room was quite opacious and enough storage for a phot stay.It was another clean .Breakfast was excellent If returning to Malta ,we will stay at The window hotel again!
GGuest UserWe stayed for 2 nights. The sea view room was a great size, very spacious. The room could do with refurbishing as it is a little dated but the hotel staff were fabulous. Very friendly and helpful and whatever we needed they helped us with. They gave us good information about the buses and getting around. The view was superb and the location was great. An easy walk to the ferry for Valetta or along the promenade for restaurants. A shame there’s no Breakfast option but they supplied us with bowls and cutlery so we sorted ourselves. We made use of the lift going through the restaurant underneath to avoid the steps up to the reception when possible. A great little hotel.
