Somerset Haizhu Hotel Residence Guangzhou Reviews

We stayed in the 3 bedroom apartment with 2 kids. Location is great, it is connected to a smaller shopping mall, you can literally walk into the mall from the reception area. There is also another shopping mall which I believe is bigger, it's about 5 minutes walk which isn't too far. It's not close to the underground train which isn't a problem for us as we used didi. The only downside is cleanliness. Not all rubbish bin in our apartment was emptied everyday. Some bins were emptied but some were not. They also did not replenish the facial tissue and toilet paper properly I.e. we would come back to find there's only 1 toilet roll in the toilet rather than 2. Also, the bathroom was not that clean, the seals are old and worn out (refer to photo). It should be relatively straightforward for Somerset to reseal the entire bathroom to make it suitable for their advertised 4 star rating.

Somerset Haizhu Centre Guangzhou offers spacious, modern serviced apartments with kitchens and great amenities. Located near shops and parks, it’s ideal for both business and leisure travelers. Perks include a free shuttle to the Canton Fair, though the metro is a bit far. Clean, quiet, and well-equipped, it’s a solid choice in Haizhu District. Downside is you need to sign in every time you go back to the hotel and the guard is very rude.

This is our 3rd year back with this hotel however this year Air conditioning wasn't as cold as last year we have to changed a few room. Other then this everything was wonderful!

One of the best apartment hotel in Guangzhou, location Great, room clean, only one problem internet slow, and parking not free also, but I'll back again

The room is spacious, comfortable and clean. On one day there is an intense sewage smell in the shower area - this was solved by turning on the shower for a few minutes.

My stay at Somerset Haizu was decent, but there were some notable shortcomings. The kitchen lacked basic utensils like plates and bowls, which made meal prep inconvenient. Additionally, the absence of a hair dryer was surprising for a serviced apartment. While the overall stay was comfortable, these oversights detracted from the experience. Improvements in equipping the units would make a big difference.

Very nice service apartment located in Haizhu District. Rooms are well furnished and laundry is very convenient. Can access the adjoining mall through 5th floor lobby but the mall has seen its better days. Gym is very great and the sauna, steam rooms are clean and accessible. Kids playroom is modest. Have to depend on taxi as the metro is a bit of hike.

To be honest, this is my second visit to this hotel. My friends and I went last month just for a weekend and i was so impressed that I thought this place would be great to spend spring festival since I didn’t want to spend it in my city. Unfortunately, this time around, the hotel just did not live up to expectations. I don’t know if it’s because I had an executive room before where this time we had a deluxe room, but there were just so many problems and a very big difference in attitude of the hotel staff.  1. One of our biggest problems was with the bellmen. For some reason, one of them kept telling us that people give and get red packets during Chinese New Year’s (he did this multiple times with different people), and he even went as far as to ask one of them for said packet. Tipping isn’t even a part of their culture here and even if it was, it’s super impolite to demand it. In another instance, my friend was having trouble locating the food she had ordered so she went down and she tried to speak to the other bellman and he snubbed her over and over again. He even twisted up his face like she was a bother to him, and like it wasn’t his job to help her, seeing as how she is a guest in the place that he works and all.  and this was directly contrasting with how he treated other guests (I watched him as I was checking out; super enthusiastic guy), but I don’t want to play the race card. 2. Our bathroom had an issue with the drain. From a horrible pee scent to not having water go down and eventually flooding the bathroom. It was just so troublesome for 3/4 of our day. There were other little issues, but those would’ve been more tolerable if the previous two weren’t such a big deal. And though there were good features of our stay, unfortunately, the bad outweighed it. Good features included a very helpful young man. That was there at Knight who helped us sort out the Wi-Fi issue we had been having. We had not been able to connect at night for two consecutive nights and it was starting to piss us off, but he helped to fix that real quick. Additionally, the lady who did housekeeping on our floor was the sweetest at this place and quite nice. Oh and while I mention housekeeping, cleanliness was OK. We didn’t find any fly away hairs or anything like that in our rooms or in the living room, but there was just one straw on the bathroom shower. Aside from that, everything was OK though the walls of the living room showed obvious signs of a long time dirt marks and patches.  Anyways, as it relates to rooms, the layouts are generally the same and it is quite nice but the condition of the one that we got this time was definitely much MUCH worse than the executive suite so if you are someone who is looking to go to this place, be sure to spend a lot of money and book a more expensive suite. PERHAPS your room will be better and the staff will treat you better. I don’t think I’ll be returning though. Not willing to risk it.

Nice location , there’s malls and shops and eateries just downstairs and nearby. Can see the canton tower from our room too.

Nearby shopping malls but the hotel entrance is at the back of alley a bit weired. No pool or other facilities that you expected.

This hotel exceeded my friends and I expections! KIWI at the front desk gave us an upgrade and we were very happy happy it!
