How can I begin to describe this terrible experience? My elderly parents booked through booking and nowhere did it say that they had to pay a city tax and that breakfast would be charged separately. When I tried to question the receptionist, who wouldn't tell me his name but he's bald, he was super rude, had no patience and didn't explain the basics of payment! So, if you're coming from far away, know that you'll have to pay a fee of 6 euros per person/day + breakfast or better still, choose another establishment so as not to be mistreated! BAD SERVICE from receptionist Marco AH! Only the receptionist Marco was rude to my parents, the other staff were nice.
Response from Property: Dear Paula. really "strange" to recieve this kind of review from you. As I have aldready answered, it is not our fault if you and your parents are not able to read reservation conditions, WHERE IT IS CLEARLY WRITTEN THAT BREAKFAST IS NOT INCLUDED AND CITY TAX IS EXTRA. We accept bad reviews when are objective, but not when are in bad faith like this! Thanks regards. Alessandro

I stayed here to attend a technical conference at the nearby university (within walking distance). I received a very good price 140 euros/night for 7 nights. My room (top floor) didn't have a big huge bathroom, a big huge desk, an in-room safe, a clock, or a BIG HUGE PRICE! The supplied liquid soap is in little packets which I found hard to open (arthritis) -- had I known, I'd have brought a bar of soap. It did have a small effective refrigerator and an air-conditioner. So why is this rating 5 instead of 3 (very basic hotel)? Very quiet except that the hotel is on a road to a nearby hospital (you may hear ambulances). The friendliness, courtesy, and helpfulness of all personnel (who speak fluent English)! The phone system for wake-up calls was on the fritz, so the night manager came upstairs to rap on my door 3am departure day to roust me, and made sure of a taxicab to FLR. The included breakfast is rolls, cereal, beverages, cheese, ham, and soft-boiled eggs. During normal hours, take tram T2 from FLR to central station, transfer tram T1 to Poggetto, cross tram tracks and walk 0.5 km to hotel ("HOTEL" in block letters sticks out from building). To reach sights of city, take T1 from Pisacane (twin stop to Poggetto, about 200m farther west through a "tunnel," to Valfonda and walk. Internet computer is in little room off lobby. Once when it wasn't working, hotelier apologized and gave me a Coke Zero for free out of the little beverage cooler in the lobby. There is an elevator.

Hotel booked on booking where it is advertised with images that do not correspond exactly to reality .... The structure is in the hospital area, the center of Florence can be reached very easily by tram. Old hotel, dating back perhaps to the 60s ...., but above all very poorly maintained. Staff not very empathetic and at times unfriendly. I was assigned a quadruple room, not what I had booked. Uncomfortable bed, bathroom impractical for size, non-existent cleaning. I think there is better in Florence ....

Response from Property: Dear Napoli68, sorry to receive such a negative review. By assigning you room 228 (quadruple) we thought we were doing you a favor since you were only two people. We could have assigned you any other room, it would not have lived up to your "expectations" and we can accept that. Only clarification: the room assigned to you was renovated four years ago and not in the 60s; the photos published on Booking are the real ones of our rooms; the bathroom that you described as impractical is one of the largest available and definitely usable. And finally, we are sure that you will find much better than our hotel in Florence...just spend! Best regards.

One night for work. In the morning when I was checking out they forgot to give me back my ID card. Which, by the way, is not normal to keep. Even though they had my phone number, they didn't warn me all day that they had my ID card. The result is that in the evening I missed a flight at the airport, if they had warned me I would have taken my passport from home. I missed a flight, a vacation, business, and the cost of all this including nights in a hotel abroad where I was supposed to be that evening. This is unforgivable. They are totally incompetent. I spent one night there for work purposes in the morning when being out, they did not give me back my ID card, which by the way is not a normal thing that they keep that. even if they had my phone number, they did not remind me of that for the whole day, so at night I lost my flight back, if they had just called me, I could have recovered the ID card or my passport from home . So I lost a flight. I lost a vacation, I lost a business, they are totally incompetent. Stay away, it is in any case a shabby place, overpriced, and run by incompetent staff.

1 star is the maximum. I was supposed to be in this sub-type of hotel for one night and the next day go to Meyer for a hospital visit. They send the link to pre-authorize the payment and everything is fine. The same morning of my arrival (I say the SAME MORNING), I receive an email telling me that the reservation was canceled due to the lack of pre-authorization and that, if I had wanted, I could still confirm it that day. I call and they dismiss me by telling me that they had guests at the reception and that they were full. Moral of the story: me and my son out!!!!

Pros: possibility of covered paid parking. Proximity to the center, reachable for those who want to walk even with a half hour walk. Decent breakfast. Convenient to restaurants/pizzerias just a stone's throw away. Clean room and bathroom. Cons: the bathroom was small, but still ok, apart from the toilet flush (we thought it wasn't working, but after pointing it out, they advised us to press the button repeatedly and forcefully) which after flushing remained 'bubbling' for a long time until to the slow filling of the tray. This, together with other nocturnal noises, compromised my rest a little. When we mentioned it, they advised us, for a possible future, to request another room. Let's say that for a couple of nights, if you don't have many expectations, it could be fine, obviously I'm speaking from my experience, but the quality/price ratio could improve.

Very nice hotel, super clean rooms (including bathroom), new furniture, good and varied breakfast, both sweet and savory. Very welcoming staff, kind and available for any information or request. Very close to the hospital for those who need it. At the corner of the building there is a restaurant/pizzeria where you can eat really well and tastefully. I will have to return periodically and for me this hotel will always be my point of reference in Florence, even if I don't have to go there for health situations. We really had a great time. I highly recommend it

Lots of noise until the night. Hotel is located in the suburbs of Florence, not the safest area to go out on the street at night. Breakfast is simple, but okay. Staff is not very helpful.

Response from Property: Dear Client, we are sorry to recieve this review. First at all you booked this hotel and you looked at Google Maps and it is clear that we are not in the city centre, so we wonder why you chose us. Second, this area is very quite and safe, since we are in University and Hospital Area, maybe you did not like it but how can you say that is not safe? And finally, you were really bad educated with our staff since you jumped down the reception naked! (just a pair of slips) shouting againts us complaining about noise outside the street....where is our fault?? So we send back your complains since we are not responsible for ANY of these issues!! Thanks regards.

Terrible experience. They cancelled my reservation the day before arrival without warning. Among other things I had to go for medical reasons. In addition, they were really rude in answering and arrogant. Price for how the hotel is also expensive. They also charge for parking. A disgrace! Don't go there are hotels and b & b in the same area much better and less expensive.

Response from Property: Dear bbib2015, it is very strange that you registered yesterday, just to write this review to denigrate our professionalism. I have already answered you on another site where you allowed yourself to offend us. Your reservation was canceled because you gave an invalid credit card. The rest is just chatter. If you want to offend, continue to do so. But learn to respect the rules and conditions of booking. Have a good life.

I give one star for the quality/price ratio. I understand that we are in Florence and in an area close to the hospital, but for prices of 180.00 - 190.00 per night for a double room, you also expect services, cleanliness and breakfast to be up to par.

Response from Property: Dear Nicola, sorry to receive this review, especially because it is not clear what the "poor services" were specifically, but only generic and unsubstantiated criticisms so we cannot find useful food for thought, both for cleanliness and for breakfast. We thank you for the suggestion on the quality-price ratio, and certainly in this period the hotels in Florence are all very expensive and we adapt to the competition. Best regards.

old hotel; smelly and poorly soundproofed rooms: the street is very busy and it is really hard to fall asleep with all that noise; breakfast is average; high prices, but it is Florence and you pay

Response from Property: Good morning 26 July 2008, we thank you for the review even if we are sorry that we did not meet your expectations. The hotel is old as a building (being located in a condominium from the early 70s), but certainly not as rooms since it was renovated a few years ago. The road is the one that leads to the hospital, if you expected to be in the countryside you got the wrong location. Having said that, the rooms are equipped with double windows, are you sure you closed them correctly? We also have rooms located on the inside, if you have trouble sleeping you could have requested this and we would have done everything possible to accommodate you. As for the room, if it was smelly as you claimed, being present here 24 hours, we wonder why you did not report it to us and we would have checked with you. Kind regards, Alessandro.
