Arrandale Guest House

We had a fab stay at this accommodation. Easy to find parking and easy to check in. The location was pretty central to everything and there is plenty of bus services to all the landmarks. Will definitely be staying here again and can highly recommend.

Lovely guest house, great for getting into centre of town either walking or buses. Big rooms clean and tidy. Shopping centre only 10 minutes away

The building is pleasant and the room attractive and clean. However, service is non-existent!! My check-in was done over an intercom at the door, I had difficulty hearing and understanding the instructions and it was impossible to get anyone to help me get my case up and down a long flight of stairs. I’m over 70 and my case is heavy. Parking is difficult. You have to use one of the side streets and much of the space in the area is by permit only. There is no breakfast available and no convenient coffee shop nearby. The price is very competitive and the owners should make it clear what facilities they do and do not have. I would not be so annoyed if I had known what to expect!

Check in was more convoluted than it needed to be as they relied on my receiving an email when I didn't have wifi in a foreign country. There is no staff on site so you have to speak with them through a ring doorbell which is hard to hear and impersonal. Then the power went out in the night for the house so we didn't have wifi, power or hot water for half our stay. Then spent the morning with unknown people coming in and out of our room continually. I reached out to the host to try and resolve the issues but they never responded. Terrible service. Cannot recommend.

Very disappointed. No member of staff to meet us on arrival. Television didn’t work. No mirror in room. No toilet brush. Draughts blowing through windows. Room was not cleaned. Coffee/tea not replenished. No breakfast available. Litter strewn outside. We won’t be staying there again.

I booked to stay at Arrandale for one night as I was meeting a friend in Edinburgh and did not mind staying somewhere out of the centre of Edinburgh as I knew I'd easily be able to get transport into the city centre. For one night, this cost me £160. For that price I got a bed and nothing else. I had read on the website that breakfast was available but upon arrival there was a note in the room saying that they did not offer breakfast. During my stay, I did not see any members of staff and obtaining the keys for the room was via a Ring Doorbell as they were stored in a combination lockbox. The room I was in was in the basement of the property, although the room did have a window which looked onto the yard at the back of the property. Despite being next to a main road, I could hear the road through the night and there was no noise from other guests. Overall, it was an expensive stay for just a bed in a property which is around 2 miles from the centre of Edinburgh.
