Having stayed in many establishments in the Lake District over the past 50 years I can safely say that this was my favourite place of them all! The location is peaceful and stunningly beautiful. The hotel was faultless in our opinion and the staff without exception simply lovely. Add to all of this the wonderful food on offer and you have a little bit of heaven. I am not sure that we will stay anywhere else in the Lake District from now.

The Ees Wyke Country House offers peace and comfort in a spectacular setting overlooking Esthwaite Water. The view, which embraces the Langdale Pikes, Scafell Pike and Coniston Old Man, never failed to impress during the two days we spent there this week. The house itself is airy, comfortably furnished and immaculate. Our room ("Sunshine") was undeniably on the small side, but perfectly adequate and spotlessly clean. (It was serviced very thoroughly - not subject to a mere flick around - after day one.) But after the view it is the food which will remain in my memory. Having experienced it I was astonished to learn that the kitchen is a single-handed operation. A short but imaginative menu, which changes daily, offers dishes produced to a standard which would command considerably higher prices elsewhere. The dining room is elegant, and the well spaced tables are covered with starched white linen. There is no background music. It is common to heap praise on a place where you have enjoyed yourself, and the result is often exaggeration. However, it is simply true true that the breakfast on offer at Ees Wyke is the most lavish and most appetising I have ever experienced. The owner, Richard, who is also Chef, is a likeable, unassuming man with a quiet sense of humour. Ees Wyke is not merely an escape from the lunacies of modern life: it is an escape from the lunacies of a commercialised Lake District. Long may it continue.

Fantastic stay. Stayed the exact same time 5 years prior in 2020. Same owner, same beautiful views, bedroom seems dated but fits location in more than one way and the beautiful award winning breakfast really tops off the experience. I cannot wait to visit for a third time. Extra addition with the new front of house with a great personality making you feel very welcome.

Excellent as always. Our third stay here. Elegant yet cosy. Lovely open fires on cold December days and nights. Wonderfully welcoming and friendly. Quiet comfortable rooms. Excellent breakfasts and superb three- course dinner (Richard can really cook!!) We have already booked our next stay.

Ees Wyke was simply stunning. The view from our room overlooking the lake said it all really. What can I say? The setting was beautiful, the hotel was comfortable and the food was delicious. It was the perfect place to stay for a complete recharge of batteries, after a few difficult months. The quiet & the solitude were just what we needed in amongst the majesty of the lakes. Richard and his team went above and beyond to make sure that we were well fed & looked after. And we were even offered a glass of bubbles on my birthday. Being a 5 minute drive from Hawkshead and a hop, skip and a jump from Hill Top meant that we could get some long walks in, as well as visiting one of the famous houses in The Lakes. All in all I would highly recommend Ees Wyke Country House and I look forward to returning at some point in the future.

In a very peaceful location, the room, breakfast and service were all very nice. I had the jade room at the top of the house. It was spacious with a window overlooking the lake and hills. There was a carafe of sherry by the bed. The bed was very comfortable. The bathroom was spacious with a shelf for cosmetics etc. On arrival, we relaxed in the sunny parlor which had a nice selection of books. We were served tea and scones and enjoyed the views. Breakfast was very good with fruit, porridge, full English, etc. The house is walking distance to Hilltop Farm and walking distance to the charming villages of Near Sawrey and Far Sawrey. Highly recommend!

Ambiance, peaceful, service , food , staff, accommodation all 10/10 faultless beautiful setting food all top notch owner chef clearly prides himself on providing the best possible experience. We were met with a cafetière of coffee and fresh scones and enjoyed them in a delightfully comfortable sitting room overlooking the lake. This was the start of 2 enjoyable days. Staff were all friendly and helpful nothing was too much trouble all the bedrooms were beautiful the dining room is a delight breakfast beautifully presented and prepared in a gorgeous setting. And the evening meal equally enjoyable in a relaxing bubble of tranquility chef even took into account my wife’s dislike of garlic and presented her with food she enjoyed . We will definitely return wish the hotel every success well deserved let’s hope I can get in next time we book- Thankyou

My stay at Ees Wyke Country House in the Lake District was truly exceptional. Richard, Angela, and Shelly ensured I felt welcomed and looked after throughout. The picturesque surroundings added to the charm, providing a glimpse into the scenery that inspired Beatrix Potter while writing her books. Richard's culinary skills were outstanding, undoubtedly one of the best meals I've ever had. I highly recommend this country house for a delightful blend of comfort, history, and stunning scenery. A truly peaceful getaway.

We booked a last minute stay at Ees Wyke after being disappointed with a different hotel nearby… I wish we had booked at Ees Wyke from the start! It is a beautiful, homely and very welcoming hotel. Breakfast is delicious and it was so enjoyable to have drinks by the fire. The surroundings are breathtaking and well located for walks. I’d love to stay again

The warmest of welcomes from the owner and staff at this beautiful country house. Very professional yet homely. First class accommodation and breakfast, fantastic location, could not fault one thing, we have stayed in many places and this is by far the best. We will be returning with friends and family.
