Amazing impressions from the design of the hotel, service and night walk on sup-s with viewing of fireflies. Delight!
Slightly disappointed with the cuisine, according to reviews I expected more.

Excellent hotel with a wonderful location - on the Loboc River. Near the hotel there is a pier, from which in the evening we went to watch fireflies. The room was on the 2nd floor with panoramic windows and a view of the garden.

Bohol is still too commercialized. The Firefly Hotel is far away from Panglao. The environment is very good and the service is very friendly. The food inside is delicious. I heard that the fireflies are beautiful, but I didn’t see them.

I went on a trip to Bohol with friends and had one of my friends (who is Filipino) try to call and make a reservation for three people to paddle board on the Loboc River with this company. When making the reservation, she asked the worker on the phone if she should send the money (P4,950) to the number she had called, and the worker said yes. The worker also said my friend needed to send the money quickly to confirm the reservation and secure spots for paddle boarding, so she trusted her word and sent money via gcash to the number the worker told her to. The number showed as unregistered, but she sent it anyway, since it was what the woman had told her to do and she expressed a sense of urgency to confirm the reservation. Only after she sent the money did the worker then send different payment information, asking her to send the money to a different number. Apparently, the number she first gave was the account number of the owner. When she told the worker she had already sent it to the number she was initially told to send the money to, the worker contacted the owner about the problem/miscommunication and the owner refused to verify her gcash account in order to receive the P4,950 sent, and said we would need to send P4,950 again to a different number. There was no way we could get the first P4,950 we sent back, and the owner basically pocketed P4,950 for a service that was never provided. The mistake was on the part of the worker who gave the wrong payment information, and instead of taking responsibility for that mistake, the owner asked us shoulder the cost of the mistake and pay twice (while she maintained access to the money that was initially sent since all she had to do was verify her account with gcash). Throughout the process of trying to talk to the worker and get our money back or receive the service we paid for, we were first told the owner was in the US, and were later told the owner was in Europe. The story kept changing, and this business seemed both dishonest and unwilling to absorb the cost of their own mistake. In the end, we were denied our reservation and we chose to use a different company for paddle boarding and found one that cost only P600 per person for a total of P1800 (instead of the P4950 this company was charging).

Wonderful place off the beaten track. No A/C just to be warned... It can be rather hot even with the fan on... And not quiet in the mornings with dogs, roosters and fellow travellers... But a beautiful and very special place with fantastic service!!

This place is the most adorable place we've seen in all of the Philippines! The loboc river is right outside to go for a swim or paddle. Town is about a 15-20min walk away. The cottages are well cute. Ours was equipped with an outside shower and hammock at the patio. The staff went up and over to make our stay unforgettable, for which we can not thank them enough! If you are not around to stay here, it is well worth dropping in for some of their overly-delicious meals, shakes or cocktails!

this place is fabulous. The rooms are basic, very clean and an outside bathroom which was cute. The best bit is the restaurant. The food is fantastic, good value and the drinks are great as well. The service is brilliant. We did the half day paddle boarding which was a great trip. Loved this place

We booked two different rooms for the 2 nights we stayed (as that was all that was available) - a superior room and a deluxe room (paddy view). The deluxe paddy view room was spectacular and the view is amazing. The bathrooms in each of the rooms are outside so be prepared to encounter a few bugs/spiders. The hotel itself is wonderful, the food at the restaurant is delicious and caters very well for vegetarians! The hotel also offers tours, we took the firefly tour and we absolutely loved it.

November 2023 We ran into Fox and the Firefly on Youtube (Bohol is Awesome). We fell in love with it, when we watch a video about it being re-built after typhoon Odette. Typhoon Odette destroyed all of Cebu and Bohol. We admired the resilience of the people, most especially the resilience of the owners, workers and friends of Fox and the Firefly. They all chipped in to rebuild the place. There are only 11 cottages - clean, simple, and eco friendly. Reminder - NO air-conditioning, just fans; but temperature is so pleasant you really don't need air-conditioning. The restaurant, Fox and Fables serves the best food. Guests from other hotels nearby come to Food and Fables for their meals. That tells you something! We tried a different dish everyday and each time, they exceeded our expectations. So much better than 5-star hotels and reasonably priced. The place has a variety of activities to offer - paddle boarding (different tours); mountain biking ( a must if you want to see the lay out of Bohol), kayaking, firefly tours at night, or just simply taking a stroll in the tree-lined village. Everyone in this place is friendly, warm, and willing to help guests in any kind of situation. Fox and the Firefly is mostly always full, so book early. But don't give-up, give them a call. That's what we did and we got lucky, we got the last room!

We stayed here for 2 nights on our way from Panglao to Anda, and it’s a fantastic base for seeing the tarsiers in the sanctuary which is a 20 minute drive away and for seeing the fireflies along the river at night - 30-45 minute paddle from the hotel. This is such a beautiful place and the cottages are so charming and are made out of bamboo and thatch and are surrounded by the most beautifully maintained gardens next to the Lompoc river. We loved the outdoor bathroom with the waterfall shower and whilst there wasn’t air con in our room, we had a fan which kept the room cool as well as a kettle if you wanted to make tea / coffee. The staff were all extremely helpful and friendly. The place offers paddle boarding activities and yoga and whilst we didn’t paddle board I did a yoga session with Joan and she was brilliant. The food in the restaurant was really good and made using fresh produce. There were lots of vegan as well as vegetarian options available and the prices were really reasonable. The restaurant area is on a platform above the cottages and it’s really airy. I loved the breakfast smoothies which were really delicious with lots of fresh tropical fruits. This place is perfect for a couple of nights and for reconnecting with nature.

This was our favourite place that we stayed in the Philippines! So many good things... The staff were so helpful, booking taxis for us and storing our bags while we went out to the tarsier sanctuary after checking out. The food at the restaurant was absolultely wonderful, we had the best dinners and breakfasts (the coconut souffle pancakes were the best breakfast I've had in a long time). Being able to book activities on the river through the front desk made life really easy too. The rooms were really well laid out, we had a first floor room with natural ventilation through the top of the room (with insect mesh) which meant the room stayed cool, and the balcony over the rice paddy was a beautiful view.
