Not sure why this hotel is so highly rated. Nothing about it is terrible, but the devil is in the details. The Good: - Staff is super friendly, incl. the valet - Rooftop pool and bar are really nice and a great feature - Overall layout of the hotel is charming - Great water pressure and genourous rooms The not so good: - Upon check-in, they tried charging us a 240/day ”resort fee”. After further questioning they said it was optional and would pay for the WiFi and the gym. Not a great business practice, espcially for a 5* hotel - Overall the hotel looks a bit dated and would benefit from some more maintenance - We booked a double room but were given a king room - when they showed us to a double room it was quite dirty - dirt on the linens, bathroom counter wasn't wiped down - so we just made do with the king instead - Beds weren't terrible, but I've slept better Location is a bit off the beaten path. Not bad but is was about a 20-30 walk to the city centre and the nicer restaurants.

We're in the hotel zone, across from the CIC. The US Consulate General and Paseo de Montejo are five minutes' walk, and downtown Merida is five kilometers away. Enjoy our Colonial architecture, and count on all-day dining, nighttime entertainment in our lobby bar, and 24-hour room service. We offer seven conference rooms, 24-hour fitness and business centers, a garden, and outdoor pool.

This Intercontinental is rather different from usual. The location is great but was unexpected that it will be just along the noisy street in an ancient building which before used to be another hotel. So it is rather old (in perception not in amenities). The rooms are specific but good and comfortable. We've checked the Hyatt which is right after the corner but that Hyatt is luxury and as everywhere. And this Intercontinental is special - you feel as if you are in colonial times. The hotel is narrow (in corridors). The open door pool is tiny. The breakfast selection is good but not so wide. So general impression is very good. The personnel is very friendly but not so much and good speaking English. So some time we needed in order to adopt ourselves to this experience but generally we are pretty much satisfied. We've stayed here for 8 night so can judge. :-).

Nice hotel with friendly service. I've stayed in Fiesta Americana hotels a lot and know generally what to expect. This one lives up to the high Americana standards. It is in a good location, near good restaurants, but not in the central area of town. Beds are very comfortable and rooms are nice. The bar had live music on Friday night and the band was great. Across the street is an outdoor restaurant that also had live music at night. The first floor of the Fiesta Americana hotel is all shops, so the actual hotel lobby is on the next floor. At the top of the escalator, in the lobby, there will be one or two people who will approach you and offer to help you with anything. They are very nice, but their goal is to sell you something like a timeshare. We refused to talk to them about that, so we never got the full explanation. We also got a phone call in our room, from the same people, telling us they had a free gift for us. We did ask these people for recommendations of local activities and they were very nice and helpful. Included was a light breakfast and snacks/drinks on the fifth floor. This was very convenient and the food was simple, but good. The only real surprise we had was at check out. We found that there is a charge for the self serve coffee in the room. I never use anything from the mini-bar or anything in the room that has an extra cost. I do not remember seeing anything about the coffee costing something. So many other places it is free/included. The hotel did reduce our charge for the coffee, but be aware that there is a charge.

We opted to get a room with two beds on the second floor, which was quite spacious and light. It was also away from the downstairs hub bub during breakfast. The beds were very comfortable, the bathroom attractive with plenty of hot water (although as in other places we stayed, the water has to run a little while to get hot). I liked that there were lots of places to put things, and the room was a pleasant place to retreat to at the end of the day. There were several outdoor seating areas, which we took advantage of since I sleep a bit later than my husband, who jumps on his computer early. The location is quite good, within easy walking distance of the main square, Paseo del Montejo Avenue, and many restaurants. One in particular, just down the street called Urban Bistro is a find! We ate there twice in our three days in Merida. We had a couple issues with the breakfast - not getting our orders right, and not very good coffee. The staff are lovely and very helpful - several speak very good English, which was helpful.

It is the second time that I stayed here, because due to the first and the good impression I had, I decided to repeat, but this time I was disappointed, the hotel has an enviable location right on Paseo Montejo, it has parking, elevator but unlike This time I booked with Expedited A. When they arrived at the place they charged me more than what the app indicated. Honestly, I was too tired to complain, then they gave me a room that looked very damaged, the room smelled... like vomit, the pillows had a smell of dirt... I'm very picky about beds and scents, the bathroom was ultra small. , a micro alcón that was laughable, and the work table was strange.... Secluded in a separate room, super enclosed, and the light turned on and off by itself... The bathtub (so I did not recommend this hotel for elderly or disabled people). It was difficult to hold the handle for the shower... Anyway, this time the exori3nxia5 disappointed me, the reception service was super dry, and when I left they told me that they hoped they would check the room (as if it had damaged something... If damaged I was already there) they forgot about me and never told me that I could leave... While after 5 they attended to others who were leaving the hotel... In the end I. Get out. The hotel has its own thing but this time it disappointed me. I don't think I will return a 3rd time

GGuest UserThe hotel is very comfortable, modern, chic and clean The staff is super friendly and accommodating. They allowed us to check in a bit earlier as our room was ready and we had an early arrival to Merida in the Maya train from Cancún (highly recommended experience too!). We were welcomed with a glass of ice-cool water which was perfect as the weather was much hotter than anticipated in Merida. The pool was super refreshing, the toiletries and bedlinen beautiful and the whole place is an oasis in the middle of a very central street, close to everything yet quiet and peaceful. Highly recommend!

GGuest UserHotel is located very near to the center, offers free parking and the staff is very nice. For the price you should be satisfied. However, for the 4 stars claimed, there are few areas of improvement. The isolation is bad, you can hear all other guests. The drains are kind of clogged so water keeps gathering in the bathroom. The bed, although it‘s advertised as a double bed, can hardly accommodate two persons, even if they are hugging. There were also some bugs in the room, not cockroaches but still, so there is a need of some measure there. All in all, a good place if you want good value for money and be central in Merida.

NNikkilaoshiService was great we arrived almost 8pm. Be aware we did not stay at the address listed but there are 3 properties 2 mins walking to each other. We arrived at the address and there was a sign with a number to call or contact on WhatsApp. They answered quickly and came to get us and our luggage to checkin at the main building then led us to the other (3rd location). Our room room was small but clean. The pool in our building was the biggest but there was leaves inside looked unmaintained but not gross…fairly clean. There was a little “kitchen” with a fridge and microwave and coffee maker which looked like it hasn’t been used in a long time before getting to the pool…there were 2 sets of chairs at the pool. Now at the main building the complimentary continental breakfast was fruit, yogurt, granola, and coffee. The optional buffet was 190 pesos and WELL worth it many options and delicious. The main building pol was very cute and we loved the complimentary “steam bath” which is a steam room with shower heads…need to let them know 10 mins before to preheat it. They also helped arrange our excursion to cenotes which was cheaper than we saw elsewhere. We communicated thru WhatsApp no complaints I’d stay here again….we struggled with hot water often it was lukewarm but apparently that’s a thing in this area. It’s close enough to the popular area called “centro” about a 25 min walk and 10 mins to the US consulate

This hotel has water issues like everyone is talking about. They have to tank the water in and they constantly run out. It ran out on a Sunday so they could not get more water. They blamed the restaurant that rents out of their building for leaving a tap on that didn’t help fight that we couldn’t shower for a day. Then the days we could shower the water was always cold. I overheard them giving gas that were definitely from Mexico Free breakfast for the inconvenience but for the Canadian American guest they offered nothing. I called them out on it and said this was unfair. The front desk was completely rude said it wasn’t their problem and that their manager wasn’t in on Sunday to take care of this, and that was from a previous day, I spoke to those guest and they said that’s not true and that they got it because of the cold water and lack of water issues. The location is good. The hotel is clean, but it is falling apart. Nothing works and the toilet can’t flush paper which meant you had to put dirty paper towels in the garbage next to the toilet. They also try to charge you for everything like if you lose a room key which cost them pennies they want to charge you a fee for issuing a new one and you don’t even get a second one so you constantly have to be with your people they also threaten to charge us for taking the towels to the beach, and then upon arrival, they said that my kids because they were over 12 had to pay I said you had to buy another room. I would stick to the chain hotels from the US as they would never treat their customers like this customer service in Mexico is really sad. the only highlight was the cleaning staff. The hotel is extremely clean and they are very attentive.
GGuest UserWe stayed on a group tour. This is clean functional hotel. We had large room with two queen beds and large shower room. Really efficient air con. Good shower room with hot water. The breakfast in the morning was tasty cheese omelette with the usual refried beans and very lightly toasted white bread with jam provided. Coffee ok. There is a swimming pool in the hotel we did not use it. The big bonus for this hotel is location as it is only a 5 min walk to Zocalo/ Grande Plaza

Ggilf435Puzzled at first when using my phone for directions and it said hotel was permanently closed. Drove through the area that was a total construction zone but found the hotel to be open. Workers have removed the old cobblestone from the street and replacing them with pavers. I miss the old world feel the way it was. After being greeted very kindly at the front desk, was escorted to the third floor suite. The unique floor plan had a triangle shaped enclosed terrace that looked down on the front street. The bed and pillows were very comfortable. Given its location, the hotel was bigger than expected with a quaint courtyard and good size pool. Free parking in the adjacent lot was very convenient. Real reason for booking here was its proximity to La Negrita, a block away. Walked there for dinner and had a great time with the live band. Highly recommend and hope to return someday.
