The most delightful surprise of my autumn trip to Northeast China was stopping at Haiping Farmhouse in Lüjiang Village. If you're also passing through Lüjiang Village, you absolutely must stay overnight at Haiping – it's a true gem! Getting from Lüjiang Village to Haiping involves a short drive along a small road, so fewer people visit, but the experience is far superior to that of Lüjiang Village itself. Upon arrival, the owner took us on a boat trip on the river, allowing us to enjoy the beautiful scenery and get a very close-up view of North Korea on the opposite bank. We even greeted some North Korean elementary school students who had just finished school. Back home, we had dinner of river fish that the owner had caught himself. That night, we even set fish traps in the river, and the next morning we ate freshly caught noodle fish. The two elderly people traveling with us were overjoyed. I highly recommend this amazing farmhouse – the scenery is breathtaking, and the owner is incredibly kind!

He took the children fishing and taught us how to row. We had a barbecue on the first day and the boss provided us with a stove even though the carbon we brought with us was not enough. The room was immaculately clean; not a single speck of dust was found, even in the smallest corners. It was lovely to unwind with a cup of tea in the evening. The overall experience was outstanding, and I'll definitely choose this place again on my next visit.
