This was my second time back in the this property with my family and I found there was a few things that needed to be updated and could have been a bit more cleaner this time round.

Vakantiehuis vlak in de buurt van het strand. In het huis was alles aanwezig. Ruime kamers met douche gelegenheid in iedere kamer. Zwembad was ook heerlijk. Echt een aanrader.

From the moment we arrived we were greeted at reception by a lady with bright red hair and her hand up saying “don’t bring that luggage to reception” and ordered to leave it at the door! No welcome smile or enquiry how our journey had been. Service was appalling from the start. When we arrived in the room I was horrified at the state of the decor. It was dated, needed painting and decorating and certainly needed new facilities. I thought I was back in the 80s. I was even more appalled when i saw the balcony. It was tiny. So tiny that the only way you could get 2 chairs out there and open the door was to stack the chairs. You couldn’t sit out there at all and enjoy the outside space. I immediately went back to reception to ask for a room with a bigger balcony, fully expecting to pay extra. The lady with the red hair said it was impossible as they are all the same size. Very unhelpful. Clearly someone who is not happy in her job. We spent the first night in the room and I didn’t sleep a wink. The bed had a huge dip in the middle so I spent the night in a roll. And by the side of the bed was a light that was impossible to turn off. I complained to the reception again. A lady called Sara helped me. At first she was lovely and offered me a new room, she gave me a new key to check the room first before we moved. I checked the bed was ok and it was. This kitchen area looked a little less dated so I felt it was a better option. We packed and unpacked and moved all our stuff down the immensely long corridor with no offer of help and unpacked in the new room only to discover the fridge was broken and the aircon didn’t work. The lamp was also covered in some kind of crusty dirt! I had to go back to reception again very very annoyed and upset. Sara and the other receptionists just rolled their eyes at me as if I am some kind of serial complainer!!!! I was the one feeling embarrassed in the end for pointing out their failings. The standard of accommodation is certainly NOT 4 star!! It’s 3 at the very best. The service at reception is a zero star from me! I was made to feel awkward and uncomfortable for something that really wasn’t my fault. I’ve worked hard to pay for my 4 star holiday and I wanted to switch off and relax knowing that my needs and comfort were being catered for. Instead the reception staff don’t care about their customers and almost resent them for being on holiday!!! PLEASE DONT EVEN BOTHER STAYING HERE. Do yourself a favour and go somewhere else.

I have 10+ years experience in the hotel industry, so naturally I am selective when picking where to stay. After much research on the hotels that were available and in the price range I was looking for, I went with Albufeira Sol Hotel & Spa. I will try and give as thorough a review as I can, for others who also use reviews as a guide before booking. The area 4/5 Not a finger to put on the location, it’s within 5 mins walk of “The Strip”, for those that come to party, and ~15 mins walk from the beach. There’s a big selection of restaurants in the area, with all types of cuisine. Everyone I met along the way had great English. There’s also great bus connections nearby to other more quiet areas. The hotel 5/5 The general impression of the hotel is positive, it looks well maintained in the corridors and in the reception. (I didn’t visit or use the pools, bar, spa and restaurant). The room 4.5/5 I was staying in a studio suite (room 219), and it was generously equipped with chopping boards, bowls, pots, pans, microwave, hob, fridge, dish towels, and even a little pack with a cloth, sponge, dish liquid, and multipurpose cleaner. The couch was not overly comfortable to sit in and it had a musty smell, so I used the bed most when I was in the flat. The smell could also have been from the air conditioner, but it would be quite pungent. Even when I had been out all day and came back to the room it would kind of hit me - and I’m not super sensitive to smells. The other days after that I just left the window cracked slightly open when out, and it seemed to help. The shower 5/5 I had seen some comments about the shower being difficult, but I can’t say I recognize the challenges. The shower was nice, good water pressure, great temperature, and the splash guard was not difficult to use. If someone feels uncomfortable stepping in to the bathtub in one end and walk to the tap, the glass door slides out, and you can easily step in. There was 3 settings for the water- filling the tub, normal shower head, and rainfall shower head. The cleaning 3.5/5 Cleaning was so and so. When I checked in, the room was very clean (and smelled amazing). The very first day, I told the cleaner that she didn’t have to do my room (I had only just arrived at 11 pm the night before, and literally only slept in the room, so thought I’d save her the trouble). But after that, it seems the main thing was that the bins were emptied each day, and the floor was swept on some days- not all. Mirrors weren’t wiped, neither the bath tub or flat surfaces. The internet 1/5 My biggest issue during my stay, that caused by far the most frustration is the connection in the room. The hotel was not at capacity, so I doubt it was overloaded connection, but the WiFi was spotty at best. And we’re talking, I would move the iPad to the other side of the bed, and it lost connection. My phone couldn’t hold the connection at all, and kept switching to cellular. But even cellular was spotty in the

great house, very clean and tidy. Everything was there what you need. A small drawback were the dogs on the neighboring terrace. Otherwise a great house in a good location. Shops and restaurants are nearby. And the transport links are good. The landlords

Our 2nd time staying at this hotel, and for good reason. We were self-catering, and have never known anywhere to be so well equipped in the kitchen area of the apartment. The beds & pillows are super comfortable, both of us slept great. The apartment and hotel itself is very spacious. Although the rooms are rather outdated, everything is kept very clean. All staff here are so friendly and helpful. Especially receptionists Natalia & Edson, who both made us feel welcome at all times. The hotel is situated perfectly in the area for everything you may want or need. It's safe to say that we would definitely return to this hotel in the future.
