Spin Designer Hostel - El Nido
4.6/558 Reviews
It’s my second time staying at Spin and I can say that it’s still one of the best hostel I have stayed in. Clean, free breakfast buffet, and comfortable beddings surely are the highlight of the property. I’ll comeback for the third time when I visit El Nido again!
El Rio y Mar Resort

How to say it? Let me start with the bad parts. The facilities are too old. The bamboo room is not soundproof. The sea view is not vast and there are mountains around. There are many mosquitoes. The swimming pool is very small. There are many colorful lights installed in a very ”medieval” style. The attitude of the waiters is also a little inferior. The good places are affordable! The food is not bad. The semi-buffet breakfast is delicious (the picture shows breakfast). There are many choices of international styles for dinner! At night, you can see flocks of birds returning to their nests at the sunset at the pier bar, which is very romantic!

It's not old among the White Beach accommodations, so it's clean. Access to the beach is good, but the downside is that Wi-Fi is completely impossible if you go beyond the 1st floor. Breakfast is provided and there is a swimming pool, so it's an appropriate choice except for the Internet.

The hotel is located right on the beach in the letter P, along the highway, which is also the central road of the city. On the sides there are rooms, at the end of the “legs” there are rooms with an exit and views of the sea, we were visited in one of these rooms (No. 10). Immediately upon check-in, we saw a sign with tour options, in the city they offer four types, we chose tours A and B from the hotel, you can get to Puerto Princesa (700 pesos per person). There is no water in the room, but in the restaurant there is a cooler where everyone runs to fill up bottles, at the reception they sell water for 100 pesos for 1.5 liters, near the market water is sold for 70 for 2 liters (at 7-11 in Manila the same amount costs 46 pesos). The room has soap, shampoo in bags, toothbrushes, toothpaste, they are provided once upon arrival, but it will last for three days, and I already carry my own shampoo and conditioner. The plumbing was a bit old, the sink was broken in one place, but overall it didn’t bother us. Instead of a blanket there was a sheet, and at night I froze a little, then I started sleeping in a T-shirt. I should note that on the last day I discovered bites on myself - I still don’t know whether there were bugs in the pillow (but then I would have been bitten all three days), or whether I was bitten by plankton in the shallow water where I was sitting in water until night. Breakfast from 7 to 10, rice, scrambled eggs, tomatoes, two types of meat, cucumber water, pancakes, bananas, coffee, tea. Not very varied, but the hot food was different every day, we ate our fill, everything was filling. The first morning we left on time and all the food was already standing, the second time we left on time again, but waited another 15 minutes for food, while the staff was giggling in the main building. The beach is shallow, 4 sun loungers and two hammocks. There are people on the beach either in the morning or in the late afternoon, there is no rush. The water was shallow and reached the buoys and up to the knee. At night the tide is low and if you look out of the room, and we are looking at the water five meters away, there is no water. Overall we liked the hotel and would be happy to come again. On the right and left there are hotels costing 20 thousand per night and I don’t understand why they overpay so much.

It was absolutely worth booking this hotel again for my family. We stayed in Villa 102, which had a stunning ocean view that made the experience even more special. The resort also has its own waterpark, where my family ended up spending most of our time. It was a fun and relaxing getaway, perfect for both kids and adults. Highly recommend this resort for families!
One El Nido Suite

It was fine for an overnight stay. Breakfast was reasonable here with tea/coffee, pastries. The front desk was not the friendliest of people & I was charged 800php for a lost key card , which I thought was pretty steep. Location was quite good as we wanted to be close to Tao Expeditions. The driver that picked us up from hotel did not help us with luggage at all, we dragged it through bumpy /rocky roads from airport to carpark and then to the hotel. Didn’t offer or lift a finger to help. But it had a great view from the breakfast roof top.
Matinloc Island Resort

The resort is in a great location with a small but quiet beach and a nice house reef outside. Beware that some units require walking up a lot of steps and the ones set away from the beach have a lot of mosquitoes around. The staff are super friendly and nice although the service of the hotel could be more attentive i.e when lying on the beach you don’t get asked if you want drinks. Room cleaning was only done once in our 7 day stay and only because we asked for it. Towels are not automatically offered to beach goers all the time. The restaurant is pretty slow with almost an hour for food to arrive sometimes. The food itself can be nice depending on what you order. Some is pretty good actually…others a bit average. Pricewise, this isn’t a cheap hotel and I feel that if you compare the price to resorts in other tropical beach locations around the world, you get much better service in other places like Sheratons, Marriotts and Hiltons etc. that said, overall I would still recommend Matinloc for the great beach and reef.
Citystate Asturias Hotel Palawan
4.3/575 Reviews
While the service at City State Asturias Hotel was commendable, with attentive assistance from the moment of arrival to reaching our room, there were some areas that fell short. The buffet offered limited choices, which was disappointing. Additionally, our room's toilet bathtub was faulty, and despite requesting service, it was not fixed during our stay. Nevertheless, these issues did not significantly impact our overall experience, and we still found our stay to be satisfactory.
Coron Gateway Hotel & Suites

The service staff is very friendly, and the location is very convenient. You can walk to the busiest street in town and the seaside! The twin room we booked is facing the sunset, so it is very convenient to watch the sunset from the room. The room is big, but you just need to pay attention to whether there are mice...
Zuri Resort

We had a lovely time at the Zuri resort, it is perfectly located 20 minutes walk or 3 minute Tuktuk from the town. We were upgraded complimentarily and had a family room which was ample space for our needs of 3 girls getting ready. The sunsets are beautiful after a day on the water. The breakfast buffet had a great mix and variety of foods. We couldn’t recommend this resort enough and was a great way to finish our time in the Philippines
