I chose this hotel because it is close to lake biwako and my friends area. To my disappointment, my room was at the end of the hallway supposedly facing the lake but upon entering my room, there was no window facing the lake instead my view of the window is the car parking of the hotel. The room is definitely dated, old television, i only had tea bags, on my first day and they never replenish until i checked out., no coffee as well. The carpet is red which looks so old, has some old marks too and the bed is old too, but nevertheless the room is clean.
The staff are very friendly, the breakfast was great. But if i will compare it to a business hotel where i stayed before in the same area, the beds, amenities of the business hotel and the hotel rate is more worth it than this one. I don't think I will stay in this hotel again. My impression is, it is an okay place but not great. I paid almost double the price of the business hotel where i stayed last year, which had modern beds and nice amenities but for the price this hotel is charging i don't think it is worth it. This hotel needs to update a lot of things my room looks so old and feels so old. I thought staying in a hotel like this was going to be a nice treat for myself as it was more expensive than my usual budget but it was a disappointment.
Really sorry if i had to say all of these on my review but the room is really dated.on every single thing.
Overall experience only so so average……. I don’t expect such a huge hotel giant - Marriott Group has these shortfalls !
Let’s talk about the suggested improvements on facilities provided by hotel:
1) parking facilities - there is no accessible ramps or pavements for customers taking their heavy luggage from the parking areas - the only thing that we can do was to carry these luggages up the staircases to the hotel lobby from the parking area.
2) hotel entrance lay-by - it was raining heavily when I checked out today. I planned to drive my car to the hotel entrance so that my family members can jump into the car and I can load all my luggages to the trunk under the canopy of the hotel entrance. “Luckily”, the canopy is too short and has no such design and finally everybody got into the car and they were ALL WET. I have to load those luggages to the car under the rain……
3) Onsen (public bath) - nothing to say about this old, obsolete, small public bath without maintanance.
4) staff - I’d say, with the “name” of Marriott, this hotel is really under staff……
Other - nothing to say really
The room and view at Biwako Hotel were truly impressive. The bed was cozy, and the amenities were top-notch.
However, the access lounge fell short of expectations. Its size, food selection, and early closing time were a bit disappointing.
While the drink selection was adequate, it could have been more abundant. The breakfast spread was also on the smaller side.
Despite these minor setbacks, the hotel's convenient location and comfortable accommodations make it a decent choice.
I couldn't speak Japanese but I could feel that they are treating every customer seriously. Their greetings and sincere services impressed me.
There was a problem with my booking initially, not sure why because I didn't get proper explanation from the hotel and Trip.com, the hotel didn't mention anything however arranged some small surprise when they knew this is an anniversary trip. I tried to upgrade my meal with crab as my wife not quite like beef and fish, they said unavailable so I keep to the original. At the end I got crab, fish and beef that surprises me. I was later received a souvenir from the hotel when they served the dessert.
The hotel is busy but I'm not seeing lots of people, may be all of them staying at their rooms. The experience for me was exceptional when I woke up at 6am witness the beautiful sunrise right outside the huge window, and saw an eagle passing by my camera when trying to capture that moment. Later on when I take the free shuttle bus ride to the nearby train station, I saw an eagle again came down and climbed up outside the station. Not sure it means anything, but definitely this is a very spiritual journey for me.
High-class service, polite service staff
Free soba noodles in the lobby at 9pm
Lounge has few snack options
Public baths facing the sea, with beautiful scenery
The dinner rehearsal location had poor ventilation and a lot of fumes. When I went there in March, there were a lot of flying insects flying around and landing on the food.
The experience was great. Staff are friendly and nice. Breakfast and dinner provided are sumptuous. They provide shuttle bus services connecting to various JR stations so no need take taxi at all.
🇯🇵Taiko Onsen Hamokozuki Ryokan in Nagahama City, Shiga Prefecture. This is a hotel with only eight rooms in a guest room design with a high-end open-air hot spring bath. It is highly recommended. Dinner is a kaiseki course made with seasonal ingredients. A kaiseki course made with local ingredients such as sea urchin okra, carp sushi, Nagahama's specialty grilled mackerel, and Omi beef shabu-shabu hotpot. The napkins have festival patterns and can be taken away as souvenirs. The service staff were very kind and thank you very much!

The hotel's environment and rooms are very beautiful, and you can enjoy the beautiful natural scenery. Although there is no convenience store near the hotel, there are different drink options in the hotel. Although the hotel staff do not know much English, their service attitude is very friendly. It is a holiday Great place to relax
Pure Japanese-style hot spring hotel. There are not many Chinese here. Almost all Japanese come here to travel. The hotel has a little brother from Taiwan who speaks Chinese very well. The ultimate Japanese service is experienced here. The 4G used this time Internet card, unable to contact the hotel, we had to find Ctrip's customer service to help contact the hotel. At first I was very embarrassed. I didn't expect Ctrip to do such a good job in a foreign hotel. In a foreign country, at the JR station entrance, I saw the hotel staff to pick up the car, and I was in a great mood!

GGuest UserI doubted there was a hot spring until I stayed there.
It was the best hot spring at the end of my trip around Lake Biwa.
I thought the bedding was dirty because it was old.
I was very satisfied with the hot spring and the food.^_^
LlinlinhanThe first time I came to Lugen with my family, the scenery is beautiful, the service is friendly, there is a shuttle bus that is much more convenient, the soup is the beauty of Lugu Lake, it is worth enjoying, there are paid washing machines and dryers to use! Thank you for your attentive service.
GGuest UserThe hotel is convenient for visiting Mt. Ibuki and the restaurant, shopping mall and 7-11 are just minutes away. The breakfast is nice and delicious.
However, quite a few families with kids will stay here over the weekend. It is better that the hotel management separate those noisy customers from regular customers who require quite environment.
