GGuest UserBeautiful hotel. Single room a little too small. Really accurate and precise service with towel change in the evening and room check. Only negative note they didn't call me for the wake up call even though I recommended it... I hope next time they give me a bigger room 😀

GGuest UserMy stay at this lovely little hotel could not have been better. From the moment I arrived (rather late from the ferry port) Ahmed greeted me with kindness and a professionalism equaled only in the very best of hotels in which I have stayed. The hotel itself is beautifully adorned in an authentic old school arabic manner, very much in keeping with the classical dar in which it is housed. The rooms on the 1st floor are centered around a small but exquisite courtyard where one takes breakfast, or perhaps an afternoon mint tea or arabic coffee in unmatched tranquility. The breakfast provided was filling, varied and tasty. From fruit to pain au chocolate, a fresh omlette and much more you won't leave with an empty stomach. It is a perfect way to begin a long aimless wander through the quiet streets and bustling souks of the Medina. My room was extremely comfortable, and though it faced out onto the street below, there was little or no traffic and though a light sleeper, I woke well rested in a bed that I, frankly, was reluctant to leave. Ahmed greeted me every morning of my stay (a far too short stay) and could always answer my questions and offer advice to make this amazing long weekend even better. I cannot recommend El Patio Courtyard House highly enough. It is a true gem you would be sorry to miss.

Le Chambre Bleue was an excellent bed and breakfast located just outside of the Northwestward edge of the Tunis Medina. The owner and his wife were just so incredibly kind to us and really made us feel as part of their family during our stay. Any issues were handled with hast and they were so helpful arranging transportation for us. Beer and wine was available for purchase as well as free bottle water! Will recommend Le Chambre Bleue to our Friends! Breakfast may have been the highlight though, every morning being a little different than the previous. Homemade jams and bread were a highlight!

Excellent
Apparently the Dar houses in Tunisia is similar to the Riads in Morocco. What I like about this hotel: 1. Although the place is not as elaborately decorated as some riads in Morocco (e.g. Riad Naya in Marrakesh medina), it is still very charming and tasteful. 2. The place only has 8 rooms (including 2 suites). I had the suite with its own private patio which is totally secluded. 3. The location is also great. It is not on one of the main street of Rue du Pacha but off in a side alley (Rue El Kahia) so it is very quiet. This hotel is Dar Ben Gacem Kahia. On Rue du Pacha there is a Dar Ben Gacem. Could be confusing for some people. 4. Like the riads in Morocco, the roof-top ”garden” was fantastic, giving guests a place to relax outside their rooms. 5. Breakfast was quite good, serving made-to-order omelet, bread, fruit juice, coffee, ricotta cheese, yoghurt, fruit salad etc. 6. The host, Slim, was very professional, friendly and approachable. He made my stay very pleasant. Room to improve: Not much. Just some minor issues, such as: - the bread and croissant could be fresher. If it is too much to serve freshly baked goods in a small hotel, perhaps warming the bread or croissant for a few minutes in the oven would be great - bedside right table drawer opened only 6 inches, some of the window wood panels did not close properly, the guest room's main door handle was very loose (and almost dangling) - breakfast was good but inefficient. My suggestion to the hotel, is switching to a buffet breakfast. Right now, each guest gets a juice, coffee or tea, fresh fruits, bread and pastry, some desserts. Instead of bringing it all in a large tray, the items were brought to the guest one at a time.  This was not efficient because one morning I was missing a teaspoon, another morning there was no napkin. Then others got a basket of fruits except me. Another morning another guest was waiting for his coffee for so long that I gave him mine. One morning a few Italian tourists finished the coffee and fruits etc. and left before the staff brought the omelette. I guess they were not told that the omelettes were coming. The staff seemed to be a little frantic to me, running around.  A buffet will solve the problem. Also not everyone has the same appetite. This will eliminate food waste. Does the food that a guest couldn't finish, get used again for another guest. If not then there is a lot of food waste. A great hotel should pay close attention to details, and do the minor repairs before they become an issue.

GGuest UserMixed review, but overall too pricy hostel for the quality of the service. Having a good location and a cute decoration isn’t enough. Pros and cons below : Pros : - Amazing location in the heart of the Medina ideally located - Cute hostel with beautiful tiles - Kind and helpful staff Cons : - The room we booked in advance was not available when we arrived. Instead of a double bed room, we were put in a bunk beds room with no explication or apologies. No solution, accommodations or compensation were offered to us afterwards. Very poor service from the hotel on that side and I saw online afterwards it’s not the first time they’re doing that - Noisy hostel with no soundproof rooms at all. All the rooms are close to each other and open to the dining area with the breakfast starting at 7:30am and people coming back very late at night. Earplugs very much needed - Average breakfast, the quality of the products is poor knowing what is available in the area. Be careful with water as some plastic bottles for breakfast are filled with tap water - Be aware you’ll have to walk at least 5min in little paved streets after taking off your taxi and finding a taxi to leave the area won’t be always very easy

LLinda M12In love with every single detail about this property. I would never mind spend all my life there. The staff are so friendly and welcoming. They suggested beautiful places to explore Tunis. We came late and haven’t bought dinner and they offered to us all the kitchen appliances and we cooked dinner. It was a fab experience 💙

AandrewcZ9039CMThe property has potential however overall I did not have a successful stay. Upon check in I was advised that the room had a shared bathroom. The owner advised that he had a room with a private bathroom but this was more expensive. He advised me to cancel the original reservation and re-book the en-suite room and he would authorise a refund via ********** for the full cost of the original booking. I did this with great difficulty, as to why this could not have been sorted locally I am still unsure! Anyway ********** emailed to advise the owner had not waived the cancellation fee for the original booking. When I approached him he stated they had not contacted him. I wasted two days of my holiday dealing with this. The owner then said that as the second booking was made using a promotional rate (but still much higher value than the original booking) he wanted me to give him the amount of the promotion back in order for him to agree the refund of the original reservation - basically blackmail. It was clear he had not responded to ********** intentionally and this was part of his game to extract more money from me. Added to this the hotel had no heating on my first night and was not comfortable. The owner spends all of his time chain smoking in the kitchen - yes Kitchen! Meaning the whole place smelled of cigarette smoke. The breakfast was very basic and of poor quality and finally the photos on the website are not recent and not a true reflection. I do not recommend.
