Florence Homestays

We love this place and have stayed here three times. The best feature is the location, location, location. It is right on Florence’s main square, right next to the the Duomo. From your room you overlook the square, the cathedral and baptistry. The large apartments are perfect for couples sharing or a family. We have stayed in both the 2 and the 3 bedroom apartments – it’s so good to find a 3 bedroom apartment for a family. 
LOCATION & VIEW: You can’t get better than this. The first time I saw these apartments, I couldn't believe that we were overlooking the Duomo and Brunelleschi’s magnificent red dome from our room. It really was as beautiful as it sounds and I could hardly move myself away from the windows. I must have taken 100 photos. It was even better in the evening, when the lighting on the cathedral made it look so dramatic and beautiful. Just about everything is only 2 – 5 minutes walk away - the Uffizi, Piazza Della Signora, Palazzo Vecchio, Ponte Vecchio, Mercato Centrale. We found it ideal, especially in summer, to be able to pop ‘home’ and have a brief respite from the heat or a cup of tea when we needed a break. It is also less than 10 min walk from the train station.

SERVICE: Service was cheerful and welcoming on arrival and they made us feel at home. They also had a few handy restaurant and shopping tips. The desk is not always manned so you always need to take your keys with you, but that’s hardly a problem.

ROOM: The apartments are large and spacious. Décor is attractive and is suited to the style of the old palazzo building. We felt like we had a lovely space to come back to and relax in at the end of a busy day. The kitchen space is large and open and is well equipped if you are planning on preparing meals. We had breakfast each morning but we didn't cook. What was very handy was being able to pop out to the nearby Mercato Centrale and grab cold meats, cheeses and olives for an easy lunch or for something to go with pre-dinner drinks. Coffee, tea and some basics like oil etc are supplied. There are two bathrooms which is sooo convenient when there are more than 2 of you. Bathrooms were compact but very clean. Whilst they weren’t large, they were certainly an adequate size. There is a daily housekeeping service. Some rooms have a balcony. Wifi is free and very quick OTHER NOTES: • The apartments facing the front of the building can be noisy. A couple of years ago, we had a two bedroom apartment and the front bedroom got all the noise (the other bedroom was fine). This time our room was alongside the Duomo and we did not notice any noise at all. • The central location means that you are in a pedestrianised zone so you cannot drive to the accommodation. This didn't bother us as we don’t use a car in Florence - it’s just not necessary so we always pick up our car from the station as we leave Florence. Finding accommodation for my three-week stay in Florence in November-December was challenging. Fortunately, I found Leopoldo Residence, which met all my needs. Marilena promptly responded to my emails and became my main contact. I later spoke with Gina for additional questions and finalized the booking. Upon arrival, Marilena greeted me, showed me to the apartment, and provided excellent recommendations for local coffee shops, restaurants, and grocery stores, including a site I had missed during my research. Marilena was incredibly helpful during my entire stay. Leopoldo Residence apartment complex is located in a quiet area, a five-minute walk from the T1 tram stop (Leopoldo). For 1.70 euros (Urban Ticket), you can reach Santa Maria Novella Train Station in 10 minutes (five stops), with major attractions within a 5 to 20-minute walk. The complex is 2.3 kilometers (1.4 miles) from the station, taking about 32 minutes to walk. I stayed in a spacious second-floor studio with a large bathroom featuring a walk-in shower and good water pressure, along with a kitchen equipped with basic appliances such as a coffee machine, kettle, microwave, electric hub, sink, under-counter fridge, dishes, pots, pans, and utensils. The apartment also included a comfortable double bed, roomy wardrobe, TV, and a washing machine in the bathroom; while there was no dryer, it had a drying rack along with an iron and ironing board. The apartment has a remote-controlled central heating system and includes a balcony. It is well-maintained, with cleaning twice a week, weekly towel and sheet changes, and regular trash removal. The Wi-Fi connectivity and speed are excellent. Essential supplies such as toilet paper are included. The apartment building is a five-minute walk from a Coop supermarket. For an extended stay, you will need to purchase your own food supply, kitchen towels, dishwashing liquid, laundry detergent, and bring your personal toiletries. Leopoldo Residence provided me with a delightful and memorable experience during my stay in Florence.

A little surprised as soon as I entered! A Chinese big brother! It's really a hometown encounter! We talked a lot! The big brother is very good! Send a few bottles of drinks and water. This place is mainly free of smoking! For us smokers, it is a benefit! The price is also cheap and comfortable

The house is very quiet. The owner is very friendly and helpful. With the train you are in a short time and very cheap in the center of Florence. The kitchen is fully equipped, nothing is missing. Always my pleasure.

Apartment in the center, very comfortable, equipped with all comforts, the only flaw is the cleaning not exactly the best, but we had a great time, we will be back.

We had a wonderful family vacation in a gorgeous apartment. The beautiful old town is within walking distance and is practically at your feet when you look over the small terrace. A special thanks to Patrizia. Your care made the holiday a great experience
