The Edge of Our Unmaking A performative system set within Singapore’s Battlebox, a World War II bunker built by the Allied forces in 1939. The one-night only event unfolds through relational dynamics between the body-in-motion—an embodied process of exploration that confronts the frictions produced by difficult and obscured histories. Dancers will engage deeply with the embodied residues of past violence, using choreographies of resistance to challenge and disrupt these inherited legacies. The performance creates a space for physical reckoning, where the act of moving through the space becomes a process of interrogating and negotiating the weight of traumas embedded in both the body and the environment. Portals: After Dark is curated by Butoh artist XUE in collaboration with Mervin Wong, Jack Lim, and Josh Tirados. By adapting these stories into short plays performed in simple Tamil by students, the essence of these tales is brought to life in a way that is both relatable and engaging for young audiences. The performances, led by the Athipathianz and Winmeengals students, blend humor, emotion, and thought-provoking moments, ensuring that the lessons of morality, kindness, empathy, and good character resonate deeply with the viewers. The ongoing narrative woven through the collection of plays not only entertains but also reinforces the values that the Panchatantra seeks to impart. These stories, which have been passed down through generations, continue to inspire kindness and wisdom, even in modern educational settings. By participating in or witnessing these performances, young audiences are encouraged to reflect on their actions and develop into thoughtful, responsible, and confident individuals. This initiative is a testament to the enduring power of storytelling and its ability to shape the minds and hearts of the next generation. It is an enriching journey that bridges the gap between ancient wisdom and contemporary education, ensuring that the lessons of the Panchatantra remain relevant and impactful for years to come. This play is written by and directed by Pugalenthii. Information Source: Athipathi International Theatre | eventbrite

Upon graduating in Geography & Geology from the Hong Kong University, he moved to England on a scholarship to study music at Trinity College of Music and the Royal School of Church Music. It was at Trinity that another scholarship enabled him to study music for the BMus at Durham University, which was duly completed within an incredibly short time of eighteen months of study. The MMus and the prestigious award in 1975 of the higher doctorate of DMus inevitably followed. Emeritus Prof Ho’s expertise and versatility have made him a well sought- after teacher and mentor in performance and theoretical studies. During his time in Kingston University, he was also a member of the Music Board under the former Council for National Academic Awards. He had been an ABRSM examiner for 20 years and has examined many times in Singapore, Malaysia and Hong Kong. Prof Ho now lives in London and divides his time between private teaching both face-to- face and online, public lecturing, consultation, and video recording of music courses for China. Dance
Conducted by our Artistic Director, Janek Schergen will explore a wide spectrum of dance topics which will enable individuals gain a greater insight into the world of dance. From something as detailed as the little rituals that dancers perform before they go onstage, to the creative process a choreographer undergoes to create a new work, the audience can expect to enhance their knowledge of dance and also watch our dancers up-close and personal as they perform excerpts from our main performance seasons. Repertory Treasures Dance companies are always asked what is “new” in the repertoire. It becomes a matter of balance to present a mix of heritage repertoire and new works for our audiences. With an expanding repertoire, as the years progress for Singapore Ballet, certain ballets emerge as the identity of the company and new works are influenced by the style of those particular choreographic pieces. What continues and how we move forward is the alchemy that forms the unique identity and perspective of the repertoire for our audiences. We’ll show you what defines us as a dance company and where we are intending to go in future. Information Source: Singapore Ballet | eventbrite
