Hygieia Strength & Conditioning will be holding our 12th Barbells & BBQ Strengthlifting Meet on the 24th of May '25. The event will start at 2pm with the Strengthlifting meet and followed by the BBQ. Strengthlifting is akin to powerlifting but with the press instead of the bench press. The 3 lifts are the squat, press and deadlift. The rules for the Strengthlifting meet can be found below. The meet entry fee of SGD90 includes a spot at the meet and lots of meat at the BBQ. In addition, there will be prizes for the overall winners of the meet. From something as detailed as the little rituals that dancers perform before they go onstage, to the creative process a choreographer undergoes to create a new work, the audience can expect to enhance their knowledge of dance and also watch our dancers up-close and personal as they perform excerpts from our main performance seasons. How to Dress a Dancer Learn the story behind how pointe shoes, ballets slippers, rehearsal clothes, plus simple and elaborate costumes, which are part of the magic of the ballet world. The history of a ballerina’s tutu, tiaras, headpieces and decoration will be shown with wonderful examples from our wardrobe on display. Looking Forward Looking Back: Year-end Art Journalling (No art skills necessary) As we wrap up the year, come join us for a creative and reflective afternoon at Monk's Brew Club as we wrap up the year with some art journalling. Note: You do not need to be an artist or have great art skills to attend this. Art will just be used as a medium of expression and you will be surprised at what it might unlock. Limited to 12 seats only to have an intimate space for sharing. What to expect: We will spend the first hour on relfecting on the year that was, and the next hour on our hopes and intention for 2025. Process will include guided visualization, followed by art-making, and then sharing/journalling. Collage material, watercolours, colour pencils and markers will be provided. The exploration can be deeply reflective and personal and we encourage you to budget some time to continue the process through some journalling after the session is done.
