First of all, thank you to the front desk staff who check us in when we encounter error on the self check in and gave us a free upgrade… ours was the compact room or something and was at a lower level, she upgraded us to a higher floor on level 7 with a view of the train station. Thank you for making our trip in Kyoto a memorable one. The room was big with a long sofa which we can sit and have our meals, enjoy the view and even put our large luggage. Will book again next trip to Kyoto. Sorry didn’t managed to ask for your name. Throughly enjoy my stay with this hotel and it’s pretty near to aeon mall and konbini stores. Thanks again!

This hotel is amazingly good. Gotten free room upgrade and the room is very big. There are nice gardens, sauna, gym and swimming pool in the hotel. Had a pleasant stay and will definitely come back again if I am in Kyoto.

The room is clean The staff is really helpful. But it's hard to wait for the laundry because many people using it. And it takes some minutes to go back to the louder streets. But it's fine if you get used to it and know the directions. For transport, this hotel is closer to two different subways. It should be easy to travel to places like arashiyama or somewhere further. The price is also really affordable, good price for center of kyoto.

Ala Kyoto Hotel is superb! I stayed for my birthday and it was lovely - clean, great location (near to Kyoto station) and easy enough to get the bus to Gion (shopping area). The staff’s customer service was exceptional - went through extra lengths for my birthday and sorted out forwarding our luggage. The hotel’s laundry facilities were great, the gym was a little small but had what you really needed if you wanted to run/cycle/elliptical. I didn’t try the onset but imagine it was good! Nothing to complain, the rooms were lovely! - stayed in both the double and twin - lots of space in both (larger than most in Japan). Highly recommend, the prices are usually good but stayed during golden week, so the prices were inflated but still worth the money. 10/10.

We are a family of 4 with 2 young children. Pros: excellent location. Hotel is right opposite Kyoto station. Short 3min walk from the station. We visited kyoto railway museum and bamboo forrest, all connected via the train. Lots of food options around like Kyoto Porta underground and aeon mall nearby. Price is reasonable. Free umbrella loans from counter desk. Will be back if we return to kyoto! Cons: rooms are a little tight, but normal for japan hotel room size.

If I had to point out a slightly unsatisfactory aspect, it would be the inefficiency of the front desk service. When I asked for a recommendation for the nearest laundry service, they didn’t provide any suggestions at all and were quite perfunctory. Due to being in a hurry, I asked the front desk to call a taxi to the bus station for me. Instead of taking action, they kept saying that the roads were closed today and that taxis might be delayed, along with a lot of unhelpful comments. This wasted a few minutes. It would have been much better if they had simply gone downstairs to call a taxi and helped solve the problem. Overall, I felt their service lacked enthusiasm, which was something I was very dissatisfied with. As for location wise, this hotel’s location is UNBEATABLE. I would stay again for the location and nothing else

Comfortable stay with an impressive terrace on roof top where you can chill out with the view of Kyoto while soaking your feet, so comfy! Bar time in the evening at the terrace. Small hot bath area yet peaceful ambience. Small room but well equipped. They suggest to store the luggage under the bed but personally found that it isn't practical for big luggage. Otherwise the mattress is comfortable and the provided amenities are all fine for the stay. Good location even department stores, shops, restaurants, public transportation, attractions, Gion and etc are in walking distance but still silent enough and I had a good stay here. Also taxi stop is just right in front of the hotel entrance. Luggage can be store after check out but please check with the time for picking up with the staff.

Stayed for 4 nights. Plus Points: 1. Friendly, helpful and welcoming staff in particular  Mitsukawa 2. Good size TWIN room with washer dryer machine, kettle, microwave and possibility to partially open the window. 3.  Very Near to the metro, Tram, 24 hr convenient stores and main touristic places. 4. Of note:  McDonald's next to metro  (in the event you want to eat breakfast). 5.  Self-served Coffee machines from 6am -  11pm. Ice water & ice cubes dispensing machine.  Minus Points: 1.  Poor unhygienic room service policy:  Room only cleaned and bed linen change only when guests stay  7 nights, despite the fact that guests are paying the same daily rate.   Otherwise guests are charged.  No good reasons that at the very least this rule is not  apply for the  first 2 nights.  This was strange given the Japanese are perceived to be very cleaned people  (which I totally agree with). In some hotels you are encouraged to not walk around with shoes in the rooms.   On the other hand they can  - as with many hotels -  let the guests decide whether or not they want their rooms to be serviced daily.   However, the concierge agreed to give us the bed linen when told we would change them ourselves .    !    Bins are emptied and towels are changed every day ONLY if requested.   2.  Bed could be firmer. 3.   Unlike other Japanese hotels we have stayed, we found the breakfast was too Japanese in content:  mainly 'same' typical Japanese menu with cold dishes and even the couple of supposedly bit dishes were tepid.   Not a great choice of bread and fruits. In short  the choice of menu was not even as good as  another Tokyu Stay Hoteks in Tokyo where we also stayed.  It seemed to the same theme of breakfast for the Tokyu Stay groups.  We decided to go to McDonald's for breakfast on our 3rd night and on our 4th night we left very esrky  for our flight and did not miss not having breakfast.   In short,  we travel a lot and we would be willing to visit this hotel again if we cannot find something else  but will not include breakfast in our booking as other guests did .  And it certainly would not be for more than one night.

Hotel was convenient, room was decent size too. If you are not comfortable with wearing their room slippers (they use a common slipper as there is a public bath), then I would suggest for you to bring your own slippers.

GGuest UserVery polite and helpful staff. The hotel and rooms were very clean. The breakfast was ok and they offered both japanese and continental options. The standard rooms on the 2nd floor had no view as there was a large wall in front of the window so i would definitely not recommend this option. The premium rooms are on higher floors and offer better view, if that is what you are going after. Overall it was a comfortable and clean place to stay for a few nights

AAhmet ZekiDear Sir/Madam, I recently had the opportunity to stay at your hotel, and I would like to share my experience with you. First and foremost, I want to express my gratitude for the exceptional design and comfort your property offers. Kengo Kuma’s architectural brilliance, with its use of natural wood, thoughtful lighting, and integration of art pieces, creates a stunning and serene atmosphere. Additionally, the comfort of the rooms, the quality of the materials, the size of the beds, and the premium linens were truly impressive. In terms of design and comfort, your hotel sets a remarkable standard. However, I did encounter several service-related issues that I believe could be addressed to enhance the overall guest experience. I would like to share these points in the hope that they are helpful for future improvements: 1. Breakfast Lounge and Sushi Area: The proximity of these two areas creates a strong odor upon entering, which can be unpleasant. Improved ventilation could easily mitigate this issue. 2. Food and Beverage Service After Breakfast: The lack of food and beverage service after breakfast hours was inconvenient. At the very least, providing a space for guests to enjoy tea or coffee would be a welcome addition. 3. Room Service Availability: After a long journey, I was surprised to learn that room service was unavailable and that only rice balls could be provided. Expanding room service options would greatly improve the guest experience. 4. Flexibility with Breakfast Hours: Due to the time difference, I arrived slightly late for breakfast at 10:10 AM and was informed that nothing could be served. Even my request for tea did not receive a clear response. Greater flexibility in accommodating guests dealing with jet lag would be highly appreciated. 5. Lobby Services: The inability to offer anything to drink or even host a guest in the lobby felt restrictive. This could be improved to make the lobby a more welcoming space. 6. Spa Experience: I was unable to experience the renowned Banyan Tree spa as it was fully booked. Expanding spa reservation availability would help meet guest expectations for this signature offering. In summary, while the hotel excels in design and comfort, the service offerings seem to be constrained by rigid rules and limited hours, which can detract from the overall guest experience. I strongly believe that adopting a more flexible, guest-centered approach would significantly enhance satisfaction. If the above issues were addressed, I would certainly consider staying at your hotel again during my next visit to Kyoto. Once again, I want to thank you for the exceptional design and comfort provided during my stay and hope that these suggestions contribute to further elevating your standards. Best regards, next visit to Kyoto. YYI HUEYThe accommodation experience in the townhouse is really authentic. The house is beautiful and very comfortable as soon as you enter the house. No matter how you take photos there, it is very interesting. We were very satisfied with the food at the hotel because we have family members who don’t eat beef. Although the hotel couldn’t do it at first, they were willing to communicate and let us choose different foods. Thank you very much!

JJ SCoin lockers, kettle, microwave on first floor, clean ladies bathroom, all provided with amenities including pajamas! Room was also only the width of the bed but provided with a small sit-down table, and a compartment under the bed big enough to fit my large luggage. Location was convenient - a 20min walk to main kyoto area but only 1min walk to metro station and great access to buses going to other areas of kyoto. Felt safe as a solo female traveller👍

PPui SheungThe hotel is located near the Kyoto Station. The room size is larger than many hotels in Japan. The hotel provide free dessert and drinks after lunch hour, some snacks with beer or wine after 6pm. The breakfast is delicious and had lots of choice. During my stay, the hotel provide materials for making a tatami coaster. It is worth to stay in this hotel. I will choose this again when I come back to Kyoto.

AAiliIt is a lovely place to stay with a fancy roof top bar. The location is okay, not far away from Kiyomizu dera temple, but still several bus stops from Kyoto Station. The hotel does provide shuttle bus to Kyoto Station but only allows carry-on luggages. The breakfast from the a la carte menu is mainly omelette, so you will probably get bored of it after trying for two consecutive days. The drip coffee provided by the hotel is amazing. Overall, a good experience to stay at this hotel. The bonus goes to the skincare products they provided for free.

MMs TCSelected Room: Harmony Suite A very clean and spacious room with a distinctive layout that boasts ample living space for a couple or family with small children. The big bathtub and plenty of natural light coming from the large windows were the major highlights of the room. Location: Prime location. Situated right next to Kyoto Station, it is a 1-minute walk from the hotel to the station. Staff: All staff members were very hospitable and gave you the best support they could when attending to requests. Gajamer was amazing! He helped us check-in and was very professional and polite in any possible way. Meals: We did not select any meal plans for this stay. Overall experience: A very pleasant stay, with all expectations met as shown in the photos and descriptions. Strongly recommended.
