The best thing was its location. It was so close to the Kyoto Station that it made it easy for us to go around. It also had three shopping centres around and a lot of restaurants and cafes. The room and the amenities were great. The self check-in and check-out machine was convenient and a time saver! Lots of vending machines were available and a water dispenser was also available at our floor which we personally were thankful for!

It is a hotel with a very good location and very good service from the receptionist. The condition of the hotel is excellent, no complaints. The room is large, the bathroom is clean, the toilet is separated from the shower, there is a small part of the room where the maid works to clean every day. There is an onsen, a fitness room and a restaurant. I recommend it. If you come to stay in Kyoto, you must come to this hotel only. It is really good.

## Location
The hotel boasts an excellent location, just a convenient 10-minute walk from Kyoto Station. They also provide a shuttle bus service, with pickups conveniently located near Hoshino Coffee at the Hachijo Exit.
## Facilities
The highlight for us was that they thoughtfully arranged four beds to accommodate our group. Other facilities were fairly standard; the bedding wasn't particularly comfortable, and there was no laundry service available.
## Cleanliness
Very good.
## Environment
The room itself was quite spacious. Despite being close to the train tracks, the double-glazed windows provided effective soundproofing. As we're not especially sensitive to noise, we didn't find it disruptive and slept very well at night.
## Breakfast
Guests can choose between a French set menu on the 14th floor or a buffet breakfast on the 1st floor. Both options offered a good variety and were generally satisfying. The 14th-floor revolving restaurant also provides panoramic views of Kyoto.
## Service
The staff across all areas – from the lobby and front desk to the restaurants and shuttle bus drivers – were incredibly polite and enthusiastic, which was truly impressive. We particularly appreciated that the front desk had Chinese-speaking staff, making check-in very smooth.
## Overall
All in all, this hotel offers good value for money, and I would recommend it.

Good location, just opposite to Kyoto station. We arrived early morning but they allowed us to deposit our luggage at the DIY luggage locker in hotel. Very convenient as this allowed us to travel to the Bamboo Forrest freely in the morning.

Amazing experience. Some traditional japanese vibes mixed with westernized traits.
It was our first time visiting a hotel with any resemblance to a traditional japanese hotel - this was a great entry point into this kind of experience.
As is traditional, you are required to leave your shoes in the footlockers by the entrance. You walk around the hotel in socks / barefoot. In some spaces wooden shoes are provided (example: public toilet on the first floor, toilet in the hotel room), everywhere else is socks-only.
The design is very traditionally looking, pleasing to the eyes.
Breakfast offers a combination of japanese and western dishes in a buffet style - so if you want to try some traditional japanese food, but are afraid you won’t like it - you will still have plenty of options (I will add a photo as an example - in reality the list of options is much bigger both in both japanese and western cuisines).
Onsen is great, works a long time (3pm-10am). We went there in the morning / day / evening — all times it was not too crowded, sometimes there were only a couple other people in there. The onsen are separate for men and women, so there is no need to check against any timetable (men hours / women hours, how some other hotels do it) - you can go any time when onsen is open.
Location is great too — multiple subway stations are close, Kyoto Tower is in about 10 minutes of walking. Many restaurants nearby.
What a beautiful hotel! The onsen provided was nice enough but it can get noisy due to the tourists. It is not the most convenient location but the staff are good in advising how to best get around. LUUP station right outside the hotel is helpful!

Lovely stay here with strategic location. It is right in Kyoto station which is very convenient. Receptionist are incredibly helpful and friendly as well where they upgraded my room for free and even helped me with my air conditioning when I couldn’t operate it. Turns out it’s centralized and they have to control it behind their counter.
The rooms may be small though even for 2 people with limited surface area to put our stuff.

We stay for 5 nights over Hearton. The location is great, close to railway station. Convenience stores are just less than 1 min walk.
The room is comfortable and good service. Big enough for us to open 2 luggage. Recommend..

Convenient hotel location. The hotel facilities are dated but the rooms are spacious. The hotel meals are average but the restaurant floor is sticky while we are required to walk on it with socks or barefoot. It seems that no one has cleaned the floor for ages while it appears stained with sauces. The dinner meal times are very odd (either 5:30pm or 8pm) and there was a very long queue at the restaurant entrance while we arrived punctually for our 8pm slot. There are shoe lockers available near the check in counter but there is a strange odour emanating from inside. The hotel needs to seriously improve its hygiene, especially in its footwear policies. It is actually more hygienic to wear slippers around the hotel interior instead, to prevent the spread of foot-related infections.
We stayed at Urban Hotel Kyoto Shijo Premium for 1 night. The location of the hotel was closed to Gion district and Nishiki market by bus. There is a bus stop outside the hotel where you can catch a bus to Kyoto station. The room was clean but very small in size as we expected. We stayed in a queen queen, and the bed was comfortable. The room was quiet, and the bathroom was clean . There is a public bath in the hotel, which is free to use, but we didn't manage to use it.

ZZohra Vanden BosscheVery spacious room! Great for couples! This is not a place for children though, keep that in mind! Other than that it's pretty clean and there are lots of amenities in the room, such as a hairdryer, hair curler, hair straightener, lotions, face mask, bath salts, etc...
SStnelshThe locations is not really convenient yet still within a good distance to use the shuttle bus to Kyoto station.
The conceptual room is newly renovated room provided the air conditioning and convenient power plug point. The standard one is old style.

Great
CCongliuAbsolutely beautiful newly opened hotel, staff are friendly and hope. Amenities needs to be improved, eg, meal exquisiteness, Onsen signage and so on
JJasmineThe room is compact, as expected for a typical Japanese hotel, but it’s well-equipped with thoughtful features like a washing machine, microwave, and bathtub. Essentials such as a hairdryer, electric kettle, air purifier/humidifier, air-conditioning, and basic toiletries are all provided. In the lobby, you can help yourself to additional amenities like combs, toothbrushes, razors, cotton buds, and body sponges.
Housekeeping changes towels and clears trash daily, provided you place the designated magnet outside your door. Complimentary coffee, tea, and water are available at the lobby’s self-service corner. From 3–8 PM, there’s a free snack bar and a sake corner. At check-in, we received 12 coin tokens (for three people over five nights), which can be exchanged for sake—non-alcoholic options are available too.
The only downside is a slightly damp, musty smell in the room.
Location-wise, it’s excellent—just a short walk from the train station and close to convenience stores. Note that there’s no complimentary breakfast buffet
GGuest UserNice house with average services
Front desk staff may arrive late so there are chances that you need to wait under the sun as all doors closed and you can only contact them by email during that time (not very responsive)
Thin wall so may hear people talking in midnight
Good experience overall despite the above
Beds and tatami are very comfortable and smell good
Taxi costs ard 1,000yen from kyoto station to the house

Amazing
GGuest Uservery convenient location near Kyoto station. Clean, new and big Triple room. Twin rooms are good enough too. Left luggage facilities and they hold luggage before check-in. Connected to 7-eleven. Wifi sometimes disconnects for family, but works well for me. Have to do self check-in and self checkout which can be tedious. Will book again if visiting Kyoto.

EEliza2911A unique hostel-like stay with a private room but shared bathroom. Clean and comfortable. The location in Kyoto is perfect-right near the bus station where I caught my overnight bus to Tokyo (shoutout to the receptionist girl who told me where to buy the ticket!). I walked to all the major sights from here, and there's a 7-Eleven right across the street. The lobby is spacious, great for eating or relaxing, and they even provide really nice pajamas. Highly recommend staying at least one night to explore Kyoto!
MMel.amEnjoyed the racing of laundry machines daily while I was there, there are always many people waiting to use it.
Anyway, generally a very cosy hotel. The rooms are not big, but not as small as Tokyo’s same price point.
Breakfast menu doesn’t change, except for their Kyoto dessert of the day. Maybe they do change their menu, but at least not that I know of, I was there for a total of 5 days
P.s: There’s a clam ramen stall just beside the hotel that’s always queueing. Pls don’t queue, it’s really not fantastic. If the queue is less than 5 people, that means it will probable be 30-40mins, you can give it a try. Otherwise, don’t bother. It’s not worth it.

AAnonymous UserThe hotel design is beautifully thought out, with attention to every small detail. The staffs are friendly and welcoming. Amenities are great, including a gym, a convenient laundry room, and even a peaceful meditation space. We used the self-service laundry facilities, which were easy to operate. The bakery on-site is also a delightful treat!
