My recent stay at the Mandarin Oriental Muscat was overall enjoyable, with several notable highlights. The hotel’s location near the beachfront is fantastic, offering stunning views of Muscat and the surrounding mountains. The interiors are beautifully designed, featuring natural materials that create a luxurious and calming atmosphere.
The rooms were ultra-comfortable, with excellent beds and top-quality linens that made for a great night’s sleep. I also appreciated the thoughtful in-room amenities, including good tea, a Nespresso machine, and water in glass bottles—a healthy and eco-friendly touch.
The shower gel, shampoo, and conditioner provided were of great quality, and the dental kits were decent. However, I did notice that some toothpaste tubes weren’t fresh, as the paste had become solid and dry in a few sets. Additionally, the shaving kit was of the cheapest level, which didn’t align with the otherwise high standards of the hotel.
Breakfast was good but not quite up to the level typically expected from Mandarin Oriental. There’s definitely room for improvement here, but I believe this is something the hotel will refine over time. The staff were polite and professional, which added to the overall positive experience.
Considering the hotel is still new, I’d rate the overall experience, including the price/value ratio, as 3.5 out of 5. I’m confident that with time, the hotel will address these minor gaps and elevate the experience to match the impeccable standards the brand is known for.
The carpet in the room is very dirty, and the bath towel is hairy. It's hard to describe. It feels like a fake stay. If the carpet is cleaned, it will get a lot of good reviews. Rich breakfast, swimming pool, and the front desk receptionist is very enthusiastic.
Disappointing week in a disappointing hotel. From the moment we landed in Oman, the intercontinental hotel was not helpful. When we asked for a taxi, they wouldn’t help us and we had to arrange ourselves. When we asked if we had a sea view, we were told “we had a partial sea view” which was actually a car park and a loud generator which rattled on all through the night. The generator was so loud we had to keep the balcony doors closed all the time. However, one night, even with the doors closed we were kept awake until 3am with loud bangs and clatters from hotel staff loading up vans with furniture after an event at the hotel. When we asked about booking the onsite restaurants, we were told they were all closed apart from the main one. Multiple times when we went to the main restaurant we were told it was too busy and we had to wait and come back later. When we did get into the restaurant, we often had to wait long times for food to be replaced or we given paper cups because they’d run out of glasses! When we tried to get the WiFi at the pool, there was none. When we tried to use the creams in the room, they’d run out. The staff were lovely and the food was nice but altogether, we didn’t feel looked after and definitely don’t feel this is a 5* hotel.
The hotel has a great charm and deep feeling of its history which corresponds to its classic design. The territory is not big, but well enough for a city and business hotel, there was a swimming pool outside and inside. We booked a club room, which was a very nice. Breakfast was delicious with variety of cheese, hot bites, and even salmon, as well as fruits and fresh juices. Hotel staff was very kind and professional.
Amazing Experience at JW Marriott, Muscat
My stay at JW Marriott Muscat was incredible from start to finish. The pool was fantastic—clean, spacious, and perfect for relaxing. The food was another highlight, with a wide variety of delicious options that catered to every taste. The staff was friendly and attentive, ensuring everything went smoothly throughout my stay. I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a luxurious and comfortable experience in Muscat!
Overall we had a pleasant stay, breakfast was enjoyable the next day and restaurant team was friendly. Also the Egyptian gentleman in the pool bar in the evening worked very efficient, handling al the tables alone while keeping up the service level.
We only stayed 1 night and below our room there we construction noises from the ballroom area, while I approached reception I was informed it would take another 30 minutes and it stopped at 23:00. This disrupted the sleep of my daughter.
Amazing time spent at the Ritz. Feeling like royalty as you step in as it was previously the Sultan’s palace. After a day of adventuring you feel as you’ve entered a haven of peace. The staff was helpful, elegant, and really trying to satisfy every need. They also have one of the best Chinese gastronomic restaurants I have tasted. My favorite amenities were available as they are supplied by Diptyque. Last but not least the location takes your breath away, from the poolside and beachside.
I only stayed for one night but the room was clean, the bed was comfortable, the service was great, the food was delicious.. I like the fact the we could walk to the opera house as it was really close to the hotel. The level of security was high. One thing I did not like was that when I was having breakfast both times the smell of food was really strong that it stuck to my clothes through the whole day, there should be ventilation for the cooking.
I'd like to share with you a small hotel. There aren't many reviews from other people. Ctrip helped me book the hotel. Ctrip's service is still good. The modern equipment of the whole hotel is still good. At the beginning, there will be a big difference in design compared with the W Hotel. After going up, it is still good overall. It also reflects the country's emphasis on tourism, the possibility of the development of the hotel industry and the surrounding serviced apartment projects. There are very few Chinese people. Oman is a visa-free country. From the overall feeling of entry, it is still very modern and good. Although there is a so-called special channel for tipping when entering the country, 10 Omani currency, if you take a taxi, you can not go to the reservation counter at the exit of the arrival hall to call. After exiting the exit, the taxi entrance is still good.
The hotel is nice and the staff are very friendly, this is my fourth time at this hotel. However do not take the rooms looking at the cafe, because the music is so high and you can hear it all night you will not a good night sleep. They should have installed double glass to block loud sounds. Overall all it was joyful stay for two nights.

JJasonlee87The location is good, 15 minutes drive from the airport, there is a big shopping mall next to it, convenient for eating and traveling, free parking. The hotel is clean and tidy, and the service is very considerate.

GGuest UserThe hotel is 7 or 8 minutes walk from Qurum Beach, convenient to see the sea view, but there is no large business super nearby, restaurant. I am a girl, traveling alone, and the stay experience at this hotel is very poor. First of all, the taxi at the entrance of the hotel is the hotel's internal car team. The slaughter of passengers is serious and unreasonable. I took it once. The original fare of 5 rias was charged 10 rias. Finally, I took a more detour. When getting off the bus, the Arab driver shouted at me for 2 more riya, quite rude. When I left, I had to take a taxi to the airport and stopped a taxi at the door, but the uncle of the hotel taxi team called the other taxis and forced my luggage to his own trunk, not saying that they had to take the same price. I was angry, but they were unreasonable, and they argued with each other. I called the manager of the hotel, and the manager looked at it and then stood by! Secondly, during my stay, I was knocked on the door by a local drunk man in the next room. I later learned that this hotel has a bar, and the local wind is not good. I did see some local young ladies in and out of the evening dressed in cool clothes. . . The above wrote his own experience, hope to provide reference for the countrymen.
KKanneganti AbhiramGood, clean hotel! Very near airport. Room service was good. Close enough to main road to try and get normal taxis. Really nice pool with a better than expected infinity pool and view. Really nothing much to complain if I just wanted a well priced, well sited, clean and adequate hotel with a bar, pool, and gym.
Service apartments (what I stayed in) are more functional than the main rooms and have more space but puzzlingly, other than the dining table, there’s no study table or dresser or mirror in the bedroom which is a tad annoying as you can’t connect the hair dryer in the toilet for obvious reasons
Aesthetic is somewhat sterile though. No interesting design motif and looks rather bland but that doesn’t affect me as much. There’s a bar there although the design, again, doesn’t leave one feeling as if it’s Friday night out.
