GGuest User: This stay was absolutely fantastic, five stars! As soon as I entered the lobby, the atmosphere was very comfortable. The front desk staff were attentive and check-in was quick. The room was spotlessly clean, no strange odors, and the mattress and pillows were very comfortable. Toiletries were complete, and both water pressure and temperature were stable. Public areas were also well-maintained, and overall it was quiet and pleasant to stay in. It's perfect for both business trips and leisure travel, I truly recommend it to everyone!

GGuest User: I really need to talk about this hotel. We booked what was, for Yulin, not a cheap hotel. It wasn't even a holiday, so the price was quite high for the area. In the morning, my family of four got into the elevator, and we had a terrifying experience. After a sudden jolt, all the lights in the elevator went out. We had no idea what floor we were on, and the doors wouldn't open. We were trapped inside, and none of the alarms or emergency buttons in the elevator worked. Luckily, we had a signal on the floor where we were stuck, so we called the front desk. All they kept saying was, ”We're sorry, we're informing the maintenance staff.” Twenty minutes later, we called again to rush them, and they said the exact same thing. We were about to call the police when, finally, the elevator doors opened. The maintenance guys, seeing our scared family, actually laughed at each other. Their attitude and how they handled the incident were just unbelievable. Throughout the whole ordeal, only one front desk lady communicated with us. It's the Chinese New Year, and they clearly don't take people's safety seriously at all. No hotel management showed up until the very end.

GGuest User: Family self-driving tour, choose this Atour X as a hotel in Yulin, the location is very good, to the Confucius Temple Old Street, the sixth floor riding street can be reached on foot, foraging and playing time and effort. The rooms are clean and comfortable, the infrastructure is complete, the front desk service is responsive, and the self-driving parking is convenient. I will consider it next time I come to Yulin.

GGuest User: Suitable for family trips, there are various room types, unfortunately parking is particularly inconvenient, the parking lot at the entrance is a lot of nearby merchants or community residents, and it was stopped overnight by other cars.

GGuest User: All five-star reviews here. The service is impeccable; Trip.com likely rated it four stars mainly because of its service. The facilities are also fine. Space-wise, it's pretty standard. Parking in this area is a rare find and quite a challenge. If you're not a confident driver or prefer ample parking space, think twice. I waited for dozens of seconds at the entrance for the front desk to lift the barrier after calling them, and Yulin traffic police immediately sent a message about a potential fine. The building says Yulin Bus Station, and it's right next door; you can see the Fuzimiao from the back window. I've been to Yulin many times. Trip.com probably ranks it among the top ten high-end hotels in Yulin due to its service, making it suitable for families or tourists. It's not ideal for conferences or business trips. Finally, I have to praise their staff. Their corporate culture is very impressive; they're incredibly enthusiastic and hardworking. Their service attitude is so good it feels like they're trying to bless me! It's much better than the H hotels costing 100-200 RMB in Xi'an, though the hardware is still on par with H hotels. I must commend the staff: the young lady at the front desk, the guy serving late-night snacks, and the young man who ran around guiding parking. I saw him looking exhausted and finally taking a short break, sitting at the entrance and checking his phone for a few minutes last night; I even snapped a picture. If he were my own child, I'd feel quite sorry for him. If you're here for tourism and prioritize convenient transportation, this is the top choice nearby. It's in the city center and extremely convenient. However, if you're sensitive to noise and find the vicinity too bustling, it might be better to stay further away. One last time, I want to praise the staff again. They are very hardworking, dedicated, and invested in their jobs, even though I personally wiped down the toilet with an alcohol wipe as soon as I entered the room.

GGuest User: The best hotel for this National Day trip, very cost-effective! The hotel has its own parking lot, which is huge and has many charging stations! The comfort hotel is marked as a luxury hotel. The waiters are professional and specially remind you of the room location and the peak breakfast time. This is very professional! There is self-brewed tea, coffee and hot water in the lobby, and takeaway robots deliver them upstairs. Special mention: The breakfast is particularly excellent, the management is orderly, the food is very rich, the ingredients are fresh, and the rice noodles are especially delicious! Highly recommended hotel for business trips!

Want to eat like a local? Don't miss out on these top Yulin dishes and foodie spots.

Traveling with kids in autumn, you don't want to see the same old red leaves and rice paddies, nor do you want to deal with crowds. Shenmu in Yulin, Shaanxi, is a hidden gem tucked away at the intersection of the Mu Us Desert and the Loess Plateau. The average autumn temperature is around 16°C. On sunny days, a light jacket over a sweater is enough. Everywhere you look, you see ochre-yellow loess hills and the mirror-like, deep blue Hongjiannao Lake. The air is crisp, filled with the scent of dry earth and fresh lake water. The best part is Muya Guyuan, a resort located right on the shores of Hongjiannao. Its rammed-earth buildings, designed with cave-dwelling textures, are scattered along the lakefront. It features an outdoor infinity pool facing the lake and the loess plains. Open the door, and you're greeted by desert and lake views. As soon as the kids drop their bags, they'll be on the terrace counting water birds on the lake, while adults can finally enjoy a hot coffee by the pool, watching the kids chase shadows in the courtyard and quietly taking in the autumn scenery of the frontier. 📍 How to get there Fly into Yulin Yuyang Airport and rent a car to reach Muya Guyuan by Hongjiannao Lake in Shenmu (about a 1.5-hour drive). The guesthouse is right next to the Hongjiannao Scenic Area. The drive offers beautiful views of the loess plains and the lake, making it an easy trip with kids. 🏨 A luxury retreat by Hongjiannao Lake We stayed at Muya Guyuan, located on the shores of Hongjiannao. Centered on the concept of "Northern Shaanxi native village luxury healing," it blends rammed-earth walls and cave-dwelling textures with modern design. Open the window, and you're met with the deep blue lake and ochre-yellow loess plains. The most comfortable part was the lake-view family room; it's spacious and equipped with children's slippers and books. As soon as the kids entered, they were at the window counting water birds. The resort's outdoor infinity pool faces Hongjiannao, with the pool's edge blending into the distant lake and loess plains. On an autumn afternoon, the sunlight dances on the water, reflecting the ochre hills and the deep blue sky. Even if you don't swim, sitting by the pool with a coffee is a treat. The butler service is very thoughtful, providing advance notice of the best times for sunrise and birdwatching, making the stay stress-free for parents. 🎯 Three highlights tested with kids 🌊 Encountering Relict Gulls at Hongjiannao Lake: Hongjiannao is a desert freshwater lake. In autumn, flocks of Relict Gulls and water birds forage on the shallows. My child held up their binoculars, crouched on the lakeshore, and whispered, "Mom, look, that bird has a black head." Occasionally, a flock of birds would take flight from the water, flapping their wings over the ochre-yellow reed beds. He would chase after their shadows for a few steps, then crouch back down to continue observing. This experience of watching migratory birds by a desert lake is more vivid than any picture book. 🏜️ Desert and lake views from the loess terrace: In the evening, sitting on a lounge chair on the terrace, you can see the ochre-yellow loess hills and the deep blue lake in the distance. The sunset dyes the plains a deep golden red, and the lake shimmers with fragmented light. My child leaned on the railing, pointing into the distance and shouting, "Mom, look, the lake is blue, and the mountains are yellow!" This openness, with the desert and lake in the same frame, is more refreshing than any indoor activity. 🐑 Feeding lambs in the resort courtyard: The resort has a few gentle lambs roaming freely in the courtyard. My child held a handful of hay, crouched on the ground, and carefully offered it to the lamb in front of him. When the lamb came over and gently nibbled the hay, he giggled non-stop and then chased the lamb all around the yard. This experience of getting close to animals in a loess plateau resort is much more relaxing than visiting a zoo. 💡 A few practical tips The temperature difference between day and night in Shenmu is significant in autumn. It's warm in the sunshine during the day, but you'll need a light jacket or thin down jacket for the mornings and evenings, so pack accordingly for the kids. It's windy at Hongjiannao, so bring a hat with a chin strap to keep it from blowing away. October to November is the season for golden reeds and migratory birds; book early if you want to catch this limited-time autumn scenery. The resort's outdoor pool is cool in autumn, so test the water temperature before getting in and wrap up in a towel immediately after getting out. The lake-view family rooms and rooms with infinity pools are in high demand. Autumn is peak season, so be sure to book in advance. After this 2-day, 1-night trip, our whole family was immersed in the vastness of the loess plains and the deep blue of Hongjiannao. The kids were exhausted after chasing Relict Gulls by the lake, watching the desert and lake views from the terrace, and feeding lambs in the courtyard. We adults were also able to completely unwind by the pool. It's truly rare to have such a relaxing family getaway in autumn without having to rush around.

The autumn wind crosses the Qinling Mountains, sweeping across the Loess Plateau and Bashan Mountains, dividing Shaanxi's autumn into three styles: Northern Shaanxi is vast and majestic, Guanzhong has a classic charm, and Southern Shaanxi is filled with vibrant forests. These 7 autumn viewing treasures gather Danxia landforms, the Yellow River, ginkgo trees, seas of clouds, and canyon red leaves. See how many you have visited! 🏞️ Jingbian Wave Valley Autumn sunlight spills over the red Danxia landforms, with layered rock textures resembling waves flowing across the earth. A pool of water is hidden within the canyon. Stroll along the wooden boardwalk to experience the rock walls, sculpted by millions of years of weathering, up close—majestic and unique. 🌊 Hukou Waterfall The Yellow River is at its most impressive in autumn, with hundreds of meters of golden waterfalls rushing down and mist rising into the air. Standing on the bank, you can truly appreciate the saying "The thousand-mile Yellow River gathered in one pot," feeling the majestic, surging power of the great river—it is truly breathtaking. 🏯 Tang Da Ci'en Temple Relics Park The top choice for autumn vibes in Guanzhong! Hundreds of ginkgo trees reach their peak viewing period, with golden leaves drifting down beside the eaves of ancient buildings. With ancient bricks paired with yellow leaves, strolling through the forest as leaves rustle, it feels like traveling back to an autumn scene in Chang'an in a second. ⛰️ Taibai Mountain National Forest Park Autumn spreads layer by layer across the mountains. The lower slopes are a mix of yellow and green, while the higher elevations are slowly dyed orange and crimson. Looking out from the heights, clouds surge like an ocean, and alpine lakes are as clear as mirrors. Fir and red birch trees sway in the wind, combining the grandeur of high mountains with the gentleness of an autumn forest. 🌲 Jinsi Canyon Shedding the deep green of midsummer, the branches slowly bloom with golden hues. In the canyon, clear springs trickle into turquoise pools, the air is fresh, and it is full of negative oxygen ions. Stroll along the waterside boardwalk to immerse yourself in the quiet, slow autumn of the canyon. 🍁 Hanzhong Liping Scenic Area ✅ Best time for autumn viewing: Mid-October – November The colorful forests of Hongchen Canyon are like fire, with maple waterfalls cascading down. Red maples are reflected in the turquoise pools. After the rain clears, clouds wrap around the peaks, creating a scene at every step—it is like being in a secret autumn mountain paradise from an oil painting. ⛰️ Nangong Mountain A representative of autumn scenery in the Bashan Mountains! The peaks are covered in colorful forests, with red leaves blanketing the mountains, and mist swirling between strange peaks and ancient temples. The suspended boardwalk weaves through the colorful forest; look up to see the vibrant mountains, look down to see the sea of clouds and valleys—it is a great experience for hiking. 💡 Travel tips Northern Shaanxi has a large temperature difference between day and night, so remember to pack a thick jacket; Guanzhong occasionally experiences autumn rain; Southern Shaanxi is mountainous and rainy, so it is recommended to bring lightweight waterproof gear. The autumn in the Sanqin region is more than just ancient capitals and historical sites; there are so many beautiful mountain and water autumn landscapes. Which one have you visited? Why Yulin in October? In September and October, Yulin sheds its summer heat, with less sandstorms and clear, bright light. Daytime temperatures hover around 20 degrees Celsius, offering a breathtaking panorama of yellow earth and golden hues. The red sandstone of Wave Valley is at its most textured and vibrant under the setting sun, making it the best time of year for photography. Hongjiannao Lake is also blessed with clear skies and cool breezes, with receding waters revealing vast, tranquil surfaces – every snapshot has a "desert-viewing-the-sea" feel. However, Yulin in late October is a different story: affected by a strong cold front, temperatures have plummeted, with lows dropping below 0°C, morning frost, and extreme temperature differences between day and night. Therefore, layering is essential – a moisture-wicking base layer + fleece/thin sweater + windproof jacket or thick coat. Take it off at midday and put it back on in the mornings and evenings; missing even one layer could leave you vulnerable to the biting autumn winds. Don't forget non-slip sneakers, sunglasses, sunscreen, lip balm, and a thermos. 🗺️ 3 Days 2 Nights Complete Itinerary (Following the order, no detours) Day 1|Urban-Border Route: Zhenbeitai → Hongshixia → Yulin Ancient City → Confucius Temple Night Market Arrive in Yulin → Zhenbeitai → Hongshixia (entry after 4:00 PM) → Yulin Ancient City (Six-Story Street) → Confucius Temple Night Market. This route takes you through the heart of the northern frontier culture without backtracking. Zhenbeitai and Hongshixia are only about 1 kilometer apart, a few minutes' drive, and a combined ticket costs about 50 yuan, offering excellent value. Zhenbeitai is the largest beacon tower on the Ming Great Wall, and is considered one of the three great wonders of the Great Wall, along with Shanhaiguan and Jiayuguan. Climbing to the top offers panoramic views of Yulin City to the south and the Mu Us Desert to the north, providing a truly immersive experience of the vastness of the northern frontier. The visit takes approximately 1.5 hours. Hongshixia (Red Stone Gorge) is best visited after 4:00 PM – the most enchanting time of day. The setting sun paints the red gorge walls with a golden glow, and the Yuxi River flows through the gorge, making the more than 160 Song, Yuan, Ming, and Qing dynasty cliff carvings even more significant in the warm light. This is also a filming location for the movie *Ashes of Time*. A walk along the canyon's boardwalk by the water offers excellent photo opportunities. In the evening, return to Yulin Ancient City and stroll along the "Six Towers Ascending the Street" – six ancient towers, including the Wenchang Pavilion, Wanfo Tower, Bell Tower, and Drum Tower, stand in a row along the street, a layout rarely seen in China. The cobblestone streets are lined with Ming and Qing dynasty courtyards and small shops selling paper-cutting and clay sculptures, maintaining a natural, unspoiled atmosphere without excessive commercialization. For dinner, head straight to the Confucius Temple Night Market, Yulin's most vibrant food street, with 135 stalls and 82 restaurants open until the early hours of the morning. The first bite must be the spicy lamb trotters—the hind trotters of free-range goats from Hengshan or Jingbian, braised in a rich broth for over three hours. The gelatinous texture is so delicious it practically falls off the bone, spicy but not overpowering—a true "top choice" among Yulin's young people. Next, enjoy a bowl of "Three Delicacies," a combination of pork, lamb, and chicken, prepared through over thirty steps to create a rich and flavorful broth—a signature dish at Yulin banquets. Finally, the fried soy milk is crispy on the outside and tender on the inside, sweet but not cloying, a perfect finishing touch. Accommodation: Stay overnight in the Yulin Ancient City/Confucius Temple area. Cave dwellings in the Ancient City cost 120-300 yuan, with a six-story arcade right outside. Enjoy a stroll back to your accommodation after exploring the night market for the most complete experience. Day 2|Jingbian Wave Valley (Full Day): Exploring "Earth's Fingerprints" and the Surface of Mars Early departure to Jingbian Wave Valley (Longzhou Danxia) → Follow the grand loop in sequence → Return in the evening or stay overnight in Jingbian. The drive from Yulin city center to Wave Valley takes about 1.5-2 hours. Chartering a car or sharing a ride is the only viable option – the attractions are scattered, and public transportation is generally ineffective. A round-trip shared ride within the city costs approximately 180-300 yuan per car, while a one-day chartered car starts at around 450 yuan. Tickets during peak season (April 1st - October 31st) are 90 yuan per person. Ticket sales and entry stop at 5:00 PM, so don't rush. We recommend the large loop route, in the following order: Entrance → Glass Landscape Bridge (optional, extra cost) → Flame Danxia → Red Cliff Danxia → Yanjia Village Ancient Caves → Earth Core Danxia (One Line Sky) → Thousand-Meter Gallery → Water Danxia → Exit. The entire route takes about 3-4 hours and is easily achievable for people with normal physical fitness. Flame Danxia is the highlight of the scenic area. The continuous red sandstone formations resemble solidified crimson waves. Two hours before sunset, the slanting sunlight bathes the rock walls in a fiery orange-red hue, creating a three-dimensional texture that midday sunlight simply cannot achieve. At its narrowest point, the "One Line Sky" of the Earth's Core Danxia allows passage only sideways. Midday sunlight streams vertically into the crevice, casting beams of light onto the layered rock walls—the most "alien" moment along the entire route. The Water Danxia concludes with red rocks against a backdrop of turquoise water; on calm days, the lake's reflection is so clear it resembles another sky. · *Important Notes:** Do not visit after rain, as the muddy paths are extremely difficult and dangerous. Do not navigate to "Wave Valley Wild Scenic Area," and refuse directions from roadside villagers. Wear non-slip shoes and bring plenty of water; this is not a park for a leisurely stroll. · *Important Notes:** Do not visit after rain, as the muddy paths are extremely difficult to navigate and dangerous. Do not use navigation apps for "Wave Valley Wild Scenic Area," and refuse directions from roadside villagers. Accommodation Options: If you don't want to travel at night, you can stay in Jingbian County tonight (budget hotels 100-250 yuan, convenient for dining, about 25 kilometers from the scenic area), or stay in a guesthouse near the Wave Valley Scenic Area (Xia Yan Guesthouse, Sheyou Guesthouse, etc., a few hundred meters from the entrance; the landlady's Yulin stew is excellent, the best option if you want to watch the sunrise and sunset). If you prefer higher-quality accommodation, returning to Yulin city and staying the following night is also perfectly feasible. Day 3|Hongjiannao or Tongwancheng to wrap things up → Return Trip Choose one of the two options in the morning, then return after lunch. · Desert Sea View: Hongjiannao. China's largest freshwater lake in the desert. In autumn, the sky is high and the clouds are light, the water recedes and the shore is exposed, the lake surface is calm and vast, perfect for taking pictures. It's about a 1.5-hour drive from Yulin city. Entrance fee is approximately 30-70 yuan (varies depending on the source). It's windy by the lake and 5-8℃ lower than in the city, so be sure to bring a windproof jacket. · Historical Desolation: Tongwancheng Ruins The only known capital ruin of the Xiongnu-ruled Xia Kingdom, with its white rammed earth walls standing on the edge of the Mu Us Desert, is desolate yet magnificent, perfect for capturing the breathtaking "lonely city in the desert" atmosphere. Advance reservations are required, and daily visitor numbers are limited. Tickets cost around 68 yuan. Lunch can be had on the way back or in the city. A bowl of mutton noodles or mutton offal soup with fried dough twists is recommended to finish off the meal; the broth is flavorful and the meat is tender, warming you from the stomach to the whole body. After lunch, return home. 🍜 Food and Drink List (Try these, you won't be disappointed) Type Must-Try One-Sentence Reason Night Market Hotspot: Spicy Lamb Trotters Gelatinous and sticky, falling off the bone in one bite, the soul of Yulin's nightlife Feast Grand Finale: Three Delicacies Platter A combination of pork, lamb, and chicken, made with thirty steps to ensure freshness Morning Faith: Lamb Offal Soup + Fried Rice Cake The standard breakfast for Yulin locals, rich soup and crispy flatbread Carb Happiness: Potato Cake / Minjie The hearty texture of Shaanxi's coarse grains, the more you chew, the more fragrant it becomes Dessert Finishing Touch: Fried Soy Milk / Yellow Rice Cake Crispy on the outside and tender on the inside, sweet but not greasy Main Dish: Hengshan Stewed Lamb A national geographical indication, tender and falling off the bone, a bowl of this in autumn warms you from head to toe Core Food Spots: Confucius Temple Night Market (Spicy Lamb Trotters, Three Delicacies Platter, Fried Soy Milk, Wan Tuo, 50 RMB per person to eat your fill) + Old Shops Deep in the Ancient City Streets (Lamb Offal Soup, Fried Rice Cake, Lamb Noodles, follow the locals to queue, you can't go wrong) Avoid these pitfalls: Be wary of overpriced restaurants and souvenir shops near the scenic area entrance. Eating in the old streets of the city is cheaper and more authentic. 🏠 Accommodation Options · First Choice: Yulin Ancient City/Confucius Temple area – Staying here for the first night is the most hassle-free. The ancient city attractions are within walking distance, the night market is right outside, and there are many options from cave dwellings to chain hotels. · For the night at Wave Valley: If you want to photograph sunrise and sunset, stay in a guesthouse near the scenic area (simple conditions but unbeatable location; book in advance during peak season); for comfort, stay in Jingbian County, where food and supplies are convenient, and it's a half-hour drive to the scenic area. · Avoid these pitfalls: It's not recommended to stay in Jingbian for both nights, as the back-and-forth travel is inconvenient. The best approach is to stay in Yulin city for the first night and then flexibly arrange the second night according to your itinerary. 💎 Three final "hot" reminders: 1. At Wave Valley, aim for the "oblique light," not midday. The light in the morning or two hours before sunset is the soul of Wave Valley. Midday overhead light will flatten the Danxia landform textures, resulting in a significant decrease in photo quality. 1. If you can only have one time, choose evening. The orange-red hues of the Flaming Danxia landforms are the most worthwhile sight to witness in Yulin in October. 2. If you're coming in late October, wind protection is paramount. Yulin's recent low temperatures have dropped below 0°C, with frost in the mornings. Zhenbeitai and Wave Valley are both open-air and windy areas, so a thick, windproof jacket is more practical than any photo prop. 3. Chartering a car/sharing a ride is the minimum, not an option. Yulin's attractions are "scattered at both ends and concentrated in the middle." Wave Valley, Hongjiannao Lake, and Tongwancheng are not within walking distance of the city center, and relying on public transportation will waste your time on the road. Sharing a ride with two or more people significantly reduces the cost per person compared to what you might expect, while doubling the experience. In October, Yulin's base color is the vastness of loess, highlighted by the crimson of the Danxia landforms and the golden hues of the autumn sun. Following this route, three days will allow you to experience both the "Martian surface" and the "isolated city on the frontier"—two completely different breathtaking sights. Why Yulin in October? The red sandstone of Wave Valley is at its most textured and vibrant under the setting sun, making it the best time of year for photography.

No need to travel abroad. The Loess Plateau hides these frozen red waves of the earth 🌋 Layers of red rock rise and wind, with every texture a mark carved by time. Only by standing here in person can you truly grasp the awe of this geological wonder. If you want to avoid the crowds during the October holiday, I highly recommend coming to Wave Valley for a leisurely hike. 📍Shaanxi Wave Valley Scenic Area ✈️Fly into Yuyang Airport, then take a taxi or rent a car to drive yourself. 🚄Take the high-speed train to Jingbian Station, then take a taxi from the station. ✅Recommended route Visitor Center - Glass Bridge - Flame Danxia - Liubo Terrace - Fenjing Terrace - Red Wall Danxia - Yibudengtian - Off-road Park - Yixiantian - Escalator - Thousand-meter Gallery - Shiguang Terrace - Danxia Rose - Huishou Bridge - Shenshu Bridge - Elephant Trunk Mountain - Longxin Rock - Scenic Area Exit ✅Must-visit Danxia spots 1️⃣Flame Danxia Layers of red sandstone surge like burning red waves. Under the sunlight, the rock textures are incredibly vivid, offering maximum visual impact. You can rent a spacesuit in the scenic area; standing among the red rocks, you can snap sci-fi blockbuster photos of the Martian surface in a second. 2️⃣Red Wall Danxia On one side are majestic, steep red cliffs, and on the other is the vast, boundless Loess Plateau. The strong contrast in landforms creates a powerful atmosphere. Looking out from a high vantage point, the red rocks meet the wilderness, creating an overwhelming sense of grandeur. 3️⃣Geocentric Danxia This area brings together core attractions like Yixiantian, the Thousand-meter Gallery, and Longxin Rock, offering rich geological layers. Yixiantian is especially stunning; at noon, sunlight pours through the gaps in the rock walls, wrapping the red rocks in golden light. The atmosphere of light and shadow is perfect, and any shot you take will look like a stunning, high-quality photo.

Autumn in Beiping waits for no one. Take advantage of the clear, sunny weather and head out for an autumn date~ .

📸 [How to shoot this route] The core of shooting Hongshi Gorge is "red cliffs against green water." Stand on one side of the gorge to shoot the cliffs on the opposite side, where the ochre-red rock faces and dense inscriptions create distinct layers. Walk down to the water's edge to capture reflections, where the red rocks appear even more vibrant in the water. Climb to a high point on the opposite side to look back. The entire gorge, sand slopes, and distant mountains are captured in the frame, offering the most expansive view. Walking the whole route, you will get the red cliffs, green water, and yellow sand all in one frame, making for great photos. 📷 [Positioning tips] Morning light is direct, making the cliff colors most accurate and the inscriptions clearest. Afternoon side lighting makes the red rock textures look more three-dimensional. When shooting inscriptions, try to face them directly to avoid glare. To capture the depth of the gorge, use the boardwalk as a leading line for a strong sense of perspective. In sections with rapid water, lower your shutter speed to capture the motion of the water, creating a contrast with the static red cliffs. There is a viewing spot at each end of the gorge. Take a panoramic shot from the high point before entering, and take another when leaving to create a sense of completion. ☀️ [Time suggestions] At dusk, the light warms up and the red cliffs seem to light up, making it the best time for photos. On clear autumn days, the blue sky against the red rocks creates a strong color contrast. Mornings are less crowded and quiet, perfect for taking your time to look at the inscriptions. 📌 [Gear reminders] The gorge can be windy and sandy, so bring sunglasses and a sun hat. The area near the water is slippery, so stand firmly while shooting. Please check the scenic area's announcements on the day of your visit for opening arrangements.

Friends, I finally set foot on the red sandstone known as China’s Mars. [Attraction] Wave Valley is in Longzhou town, Jingbian county, Yulin, Shaanxi. It is a red sandstone Danxia landform carved by millions of years of wind and water into layered, wave-like patterns. The park has three core areas — Flaming Danxia, Red Cliff Danxia, and Inner-earth Danxia — and is nicknamed China’s Mars. [Culture] The Longzhou area is where the Loess Plateau of northern Shaanxi meets Danxia topography. Locals call this red rock "hongsha mao" (red sand ridge). Yanjia Fort village is the site of an old rammed-earth fortress. The Danxia formed from ancient lake deposits in Jingbian and is a textbook geological outcrop. [Location] South of Wuyang Road, Longzhou town, Jingbian county, Yulin city, Shaanxi province (navigate to "Shaanxi Wave Valley Scenic Area Visitor Center"). [Navigation] Navigate to "Shaanxi Wave Valley Scenic Area Visitor Center" — don’t search for unofficial spots. By car: from Xi’an about 4.5–5 hours, from Yulin about 1.5–2 hours. High-speed rail to Jingbian station plus a carpool is CNY 30 per person for a 30-minute drive to the park. There are no direct shuttle buses from the county seat. [Tickets] Peak season (April–October) adult CNY 90 (includes the glass scenic bridge); low season (November–March) CNY 60. Students half price CNY 45; free for visitors 65 and older and for children under 1.2 m. The sightseeing shuttle is required inside the park. The glass bridge is included in admission. The escalator is optional for CNY 15. The Inner-earth Danxia off-road experience is optional CNY 80–120 per ride. [Routes] Large loop 3–4 hours: entrance → glass scenic bridge → Flaming Danxia Liubotai → Red Cliff Danxia → time tunnel → Inner-earth Danxia narrow passage → kilometer gallery → Yanjia Fort → Huishou Bridge (sunset spot) → exit. Short loop 1 hour: entrance → glass bridge → Flaming Danxia → split viewing platform → return, suitable for elderly and children. [Experience] Before sunset, the Flaming Danxia’s rock faces turn golden-red and the ripples look like frozen waves. Wear white or light blue for the best photos; avoid red. At noon, the Inner-earth Danxia narrow passage creates Tyndall light when sunlight streams in. The water Danxia reflects red rock and blue water; drones can capture aerial shots. [Impression] We entered the park at 3 PM with friends and caught the Flaming Danxia sunset. When the red rock ignited in color, phones wouldn’t stop shooting. It looks wilder than in photos. [Tips] Don’t take the "8 km shortcut" recommended by villagers — it’s easy to get stuck after rain. Do not buy "discount tickets" sold by villagers — they are invalid. UV is strong in northern Shaanxi; hat, sunglasses, and sunscreen are essential. Do not step on the rock surfaces — the landforms are fragile and violators will be fined. Buy the sightseeing shuttle — there is a lot of walking inside the park. [Food] Jingbian stewed mutton soup is fresh and tender (Lao Zhou Mutton Restaurant). Try chopped mutton with buckwheat noodles or handmade noodles topped with air-dried mutton sauce. Sea buckthorn yogurt CNY 7 a cup helps cut the richness. [Lodging] Yaodong guesthouses or farm stays in Longzhou town cost CNY 100–180 in low season (best for sunrise, some include transfers); chain hotels in Jingbian county cost CNY 200–400 and are more family friendly. [Nearby] In Jingbian county: Tongwan city (ancient Xiongnu city ruins) and the Danxia around Longzhou; head south to link with the Yan’an red tourism route, or go north to Yulin Red Stone Gorge. Jingbian Wave Valley

🐏 [Sacred Lake] A super niche outdoor hiking route in Yulin! Summit the Sacred Lake + light hike in Yubeng, heal yourself with wild beauty~ 🌟 Niche route: Shenmu-Yubeng hiking trail (super healing!) 👉 [Route information] This route can be called the "light hiking" version of Yubeng. It is about 10 km in total with an elevation gain of about 1,200 meters, but it wins with its superb scenery! Plus, it's uncrowded and beautiful~ 🌈 [Sacred Lake scenery] This route is truly uncrowded and beautiful! Although the altitude is not high (about 3,400 meters), the scenery is so healing! Blue skies and white clouds, snow-capped mountains and meadows, rivers and sheep... every shot is a blockbuster! And the entire route is a combination of primeval forests and grasslands, which is very unique~ Especially after reaching the summit, the entire Sacred Lake is in full view; that visual impact is truly stunning!! Standing on the mountaintop watching the sunlight spill onto the lake surface, it really feels like all worries have disappeared... And this route is entirely forest and meadow, super clean! Wild sheep grazing nearby make the whole world feel quiet~ You must go in the morning; the sunlight on the lake is really beautiful... (but remember to protect yourself from the sun...)
This is a must-visit attraction. I never imagined that Shaanxi had such stunning scenery. The Danxia landform, formed over hundreds of millions of years, is absolutely breathtaking. Every shot is a masterpiece. However, good weather is essential for capturing the beauty of the landscape.
lizhe_1Hongjiannao Scenic Area is described as "half desert, half sea, a coexistence of desolation and romance." A national AAAA-level scenic area, it's a "pearl of the desert" in the Mu Us Desert. A great place for family trips, definitely worth visiting. The boiled fish at Hongjiannao is delicious! Superb!
若水🍀I came across Erlang Mountain's scenery in a short video online and thought it was magnificent. It's rare to see such a thin mountain range with so many temples and ancient buildings. It truly felt like heaven on earth, so I traveled a long way to see it. Overall, it was quite good and worth the trip. The most important thing was Erlang Temple. Seeing the piercing statue of Erlang Shen, I made a wish to him, hoping it would come true.
杜楠嘟嘟This street is beautiful to visit during the day and especially at night. It has a vibrance of locals in the evening, and lots of stores and restaurants. Lots to see and do here. A very night street to slowly walk along and enjoy!
Abigail Van Der HovenIt is worth a visit for history lovers, especially those who love the Great Wall and Ming Dynasty frontier history. The fortress itself is a modern construction, with only a few remaining beacon tunnels and city walls in the far west and east.
jyayoiThis scenic spot is really worth visiting. I will bring my parents to visit it again next time. It is beautiful! It makes people linger! The weather was not good this time. I hope it will be sunny next time!
Anonymous userBaiyun Mountain, located on the banks of the Yellow River in Jia County, is a famous Taoist mountain. Its terrain runs from northwest to southeast, majestically situated on the west bank of the mighty Yellow River. The mountain is covered with lush pine and cypress trees, and towering cliffs. From a distance, it appears and disappears in the mist. The Baiyun Mountain Taoist temple complex is the largest Ming Dynasty architectural complex in the entire Northwest region, with numerous temples and halls of varying sizes, creating a magnificent and imposing sight.
M37***45The museum was very well done; although small, it was very well-designed. The children had a great time interacting with the exhibits. The shuttle bus took us to the ruins to experience the grandeur of Baicheng.
cocoliu4139Huangchengtai is still under archaeological excavation and can only be viewed from a distance. The outer city, which is open to visitors, offers opportunities to interact with many enthusiastic young people from the Shimao area – a highly recommended experience! Visiting the museum first before coming here will provide a more authentic and concrete understanding of the traces of human life 4,000 years ago!
