Dazaifu Tenmangu Shrine is a historic shrine in Fukuoka Prefecture, Japan, built over the grave of Sugawara no Michizane, and is an important center for Tenmangu shrines across Japan. Sugawara no Michizane was exiled to Dazaifu due to political strife during the Heian period and passed away there. He was later revered as the deity of learning and culture, making this a long-standing place of worship for those praying for academic success and success in exams. Upon entering the grounds, the Shinji-ike Pond and the three arched bridges spanning it form an iconic view. The pond is named for its resemblance to the character for "heart," and the three bridges symbolize the past, present, and future, respectively. Several stone statues of reclining sacred oxen are scattered throughout the grounds, reflecting the traditional connection between the ox and Sugawara no Michizane. The Tobiume (Flying Plum Tree) beside the main hall carries the legend of a plum tree that flew here from Kyoto in a single night. It is the first to bloom each year, adding vitality to the spring. The garden is planted with approx. 200 varieties and 6,000 plum trees, creating a particularly rich landscape during the blooming season, and you can also enjoy irises in early summer. Traditional festivals and cultural events are also preserved here. The Usokae ritual held every January involves exchanging wooden bird carvings to express wishes, and the Kyokusui no En (Winding Stream Banquet) is held on the first Sunday of March, where participants dressed in Heian-period attire recite poems by the flowing water, recreating the elegance of ancient banquets. After your visit, you can stroll along the approach and taste Umegae Mochi, a grilled rice cake with a crispy exterior and red bean filling, to experience the local traditional food culture.Dazaifu · 14 km from Ogori

•234m seaside tower, Fukuoka landmark •The cityscape of Fukuoka and the beautiful scenery of Hakata Bay unfold in a panoramic view Fukuoka Tower is located by the seaside and stands 234 m tall, making it a landmark of Fukuoka. The tower's body, covered with 8,000 mirror panels, is designed as a soaring triangular prism that radiates light day and night with an extraordinary presence. For enjoying the night view, there is no better place in all of Fukuoka. Take the elevator to the observation deck at 123 m, and through the 360-degree floor-to-ceiling windows, the dazzling lights of the entire coastal city flicker right beneath your feet. Night light show: walk down one floor along the stairs to reach the café, order a cocktail and sit for a while, quietly taking in Fukuoka's bustling night scenery. In addition, on evenings during Tanabata or Christmas, the mirror windows are decorated with neon lights, presenting an impressive nighttime light show. A dating spot for couples: on the 3rd floor observation room there is also a heart-shaped arch; when a couple holds hands and touches the arch, they will be surrounded by a heart shape that lights up. △ In "Fukuoka panorama," you can enjoy the sparkling Hakata Bay, the enchanting sunset, and the romantic Fukuoka night view through time-lapse videos... △ Enjoy lunch and coffee under the blue sky, and in the evening, savor a romantic moment while gazing at the sparkling night view.Fukuoka · 28.9 km from Ogori

This is a shrine that worships Sugawara no Michizane, a man of letters from the Heian period of Japan, as the god of learning. It is said that it helps you pass exams and achieve success, and that it helps you maintain good health. It is a very famous shrine!

I went at Friday night, but it was still not crowded. The views are really beautiful and it’s worth to go if you’re in the area.

I was overwhelmed by the number of frogs. I empathize with the messages written inside the temple, and I am grateful that by passing through the frog's mouth, I can "rejuvenate, smile, and regain my energy"! This is definitely a temple I recommend!

One of my favorite parks placed in the city, Ohorikoen is quite massive, making it a good place for picnics, anytime strolls, jogging, and also has some swan boats for a fun ride in the lake during daytime. If you want to chill for a coffee there is Starbucks.

Kora Taisha Shrine in Kurume City, Fukuoka Prefecture, is an ancient shrine with a history of more than 1,600 years. The shrine was built near the top of Mt. Kora. Locals believe that the entire mountain is a sacred place where gods exist, and they still attach great importance to the mountain. Pass through the torii gate and climb the 131 stone steps to reach the observatory, from which you can see the entire Kurume city! It has now become a popular photo spot! The most recommended time is sunset, because Kora Taisha Shrine is built on the top of the mountain, so you can enjoy the torii gate, stone steps, sunset and night view at once. Around the summer solstice in June, you can also see the light path where the stone steps and the sunset are in a straight line.

Kushida Shrine is a must-visit shrine when you come to Hakata. You must come to see the Gion Yamakasa. Although I didn't come in July, I didn't see the big Yamakasa in the city, but I can see the Yamakasa in Kushida Shrine. Read the introduction According to the legend of the shrine, Kushida Shrine was founded in the first year of Tenpyo Hoji (757) and has been the general guardian of Hakata since ancient times. The Hakata Festival is a representative festival of Fukuoka City and is well-known throughout the country.
