The Keniaowei Stalagmite Spectacular Tourist Area is located in Jiucuo Village, Jinghai Town, Huilai County, Jieyang City, The diverse stalagmites, each in a myriad of shapes and forms, are incredibly lifelike, resembling birds and beasts. Near the seaside, a series of stalagmites soar skyward, abruptly and majestically. Some resemble ribbons tossed into the sea, sinking to the bottom, while others resemble lotus flowers emerging from the moon, veiling the face of a beautiful lady. Wandering through the grove of stalagmites, where the sea and sky merge into one, is a truly relaxing and captivating experience, a truly captivating coastal destination.Huilai · 28.2 km from downtown

Queshi Scenic Spot

4.5/5

Queshi scenic area is located in Haojiang District on the south bank of the inner bay of Shantou, facing the old city across the sea. The character "Que" originally means "stone mountain". The mountain is covered with granite, which has been weathered over a long period of time, forming a continuous range of stone egg-shaped hills. Strange peaks, secluded valleys, and bizarre rocks are framed together with the bay scenery, and mountains, sea, rocks, and caves make up a beautiful landscape. The attraction consists of six sections: Xiaoshi, Tashan, Yanfeng, Xianglushan, Bijiashan, and Su'an. Among them, Tashan and Yanfeng are more developed and are the main destinations for most tourists. The attraction is divided into six attractions, namely Xiaoshi attraction, Queshi Tashan attraction, Yanfeng attraction, Xianglu Mountain, Bijia Mountain attraction, and Su'an attraction. Among them, Xianglu attraction and Bijia Mountain attraction are currently under development. You can choose to visit the remaining four attractions based on your preference, with Queshi Tashan attraction and Yanfeng attraction being the main highlights. This is because Queshi Tashan attraction is relatively more developed, while Yanfeng attraction is another well-developed attraction, which is comparatively larger—about three times the size of Queshi Tashan attraction—and notably features the natural scenery of Dream Valley. Tashan mountain is renowned for its secluded rock caves and cliff inscriptions, with attractions like Shuilian cave, Taohua stream, and Liudan pavilion scattered across its slopes. Its highlight is Chuihong cave—a series of interconnected caverns naturally formed by stacked granite boulders, where large and small rocks cluster chaotically along the ceilings and walls like a stone corridor. Visitors crawl through the cave and emerge halfway up the mountain; further up lies Piaoran pavilion at Tashan's summit. This two-story, six-pillared pavilion offers panoramic views of Shantou's inner bay and the city skyline opposite, making it perpetually popular. The quieter Mengou pavilion lies not far along the hiking trail. Visitors can choose the cable car or slide for ascent/descent, or hike the entire route. The least strenuous option is taking the cable car up and descending through Chuihong cave's rocky passage. The Flame peak area is much more open than Ta mountain, with its signature attraction being Dream valley: in the 1920s, writer Xiao Qian fell in love with a Chaoshan girl in Queshi and later wrote the novel "Dream valley" based on this experience. The valley features lush trees and serene streams, offering a different kind of rustic charm beyond rock and sea views. The attraction also preserves Western-style old buildings from the port-opening era, such as the former British consulate and Queshi church. After admiring the mountains and sea, these colonial-era structures present another unique aspect that distinguishes Queshi from ordinary mountain-sea attractions. To the left, a 5-minute walk leads to Chuihong Cave. This naturally formed granite cave complex features stacked boulders of varying sizes along its ceiling and walls, creating a stone corridor. Climbing through the cave is akin to ascending a mountain, as the exit actually nears the summit. Not far from Chui Hong Cave is the mountaintop viewing platform Piao Ran Pavilion, where you can overlook the panoramic view of Shantou, but this spot tends to be crowded. The Meng Ou Pavilion on the western side is quieter, and the distance between the two can be covered in approx. 10 mins on foot. After visiting, you can choose to take the slideway down the mountain.Shantou · 51.8 km from Huilai

Huilai Beach Resort is located on the coast from Huajia Village to Xidong Village in Shenquan Town, Huilai County, Guangdong Province. It has a planned area of 2,000 acres and a total length of 3 kilometers of beach. The resort is located on the mountain and faces the sea. The beach is wide and boundless, the sand is white and fine, and the waves are moderate and gentle. It is one of the high-quality natural seaside bathing beaches in eastern Guangdong and one of the three major viewing points of the "mirage" landscape in my country. The scenery of the Golden Lion Throat in Huilai County is truly stunning, and it is a treasure that seaside lovers cannot miss. The biggest advantage here is that it has a beautiful sea view. Standing on the sea-viewing platform, looking far into the distance, white gulls soar where the sea and sky meet, the sound of waves hitting the reefs, and the magnificent scene of the ebb and flow of the tide are in full view. In the evening, the afterglow of the setting sun sprinkles on the sea, sparkling and beautiful, and every shot is a blockbuster. Moreover, this is an excellent place to watch the sunrise and sunset at sea. When the sun slowly rises or falls from the sea level, the entire sea surface is dyed with gorgeous colors, which is extremely romantic. In addition, the sea-viewing platform is built on the basis of natural reefs, retaining more natural features. Visitors can feel the magic of nature up close and have a full experience. At the same time, this is also a natural bird-watching resort. If you are lucky, you can see various seabirds circling and foraging in the sky. However, there are also some slots in the Golden Lion Throat. First of all, the scenic spot has not been overdeveloped, and the infrastructure is relatively weak. For example, there are few public toilets, and some facilities are relatively simple; dining and shopping options are also limited. If you want to dine or buy souvenirs in the scenic area, it may not meet the diverse needs. Secondly, since it is an open-air scenic spot, sun protection measures must be taken, otherwise it is easy to get sunburned; and there are no obvious signs on some sections of the road, and first-time tourists may get lost. In addition, there are no sunshade facilities in the scenic area, and it will be hot and uncomfortable to visit under the scorching sun. Overall, the Golden Lion Throat in Huilai County has beautiful scenery and is suitable for tourists who like natural wildness and photography, but you need to make corresponding preparations when visiting to make up for some shortcomings.

The Keniaowei Stone Shoot Wonder Tourist Area is located in Keniaowei, Jinghai Town, Huilai County. It is a Chaoshan tourist scenic spot with great viewing value. The coastal hills are formed into a beautiful and unique seaside stone forest due to crustal movement and the wind and waves over a long period of time.

Taking this cable car is a major attraction in the Queshi Scenic Area. The staff at the stations are very responsible, and the cable car operates safely and hygienically. Climbing to the top of Tashan Mountain and getting a bird's-eye view of Shantou is a very pleasant experience.

The botanical garden is large, built against the mountain, and the overall scenery is pleasant. The main attractions are the Rainforest World, the succulent area, various flowering plants and shrubs, and a seven-tiered escalator. Take Metro Line 1 to Zhongshan Park Station, Exit 3B, walk a few hundred meters to enter the garden from the West Gate. Once inside, be sure to take the unlimited-ride sightseeing bus to various attractions. Walking around the mountainous areas can be quite tiring. First, visit the Rainforest World, then the succulent area to see the cacti, followed by the Flower Garden, then the Xizi Garden, and finally take the bus to the South Gate Station. From the South Gate, you can enjoy a distant view of the sea. Take two elevators and seven escalators down to the South Gate; each step of the escalator offers a scenic view and photo opportunities. Finally, take the sightseeing bus back to the West Gate from the South Gate. The photos are mainly taken at the Xizi Garden station of the botanical garden.
