We had a fantastic stay at this hotel in Beppu and would highly recommend it to anyone visiting the area. The location is absolutely ideal — centrally situated and within easy reach of popular attractions like Beppu Station, the hot spring districts, and local dining spots. Whether you’re exploring the “hells” of Beppu or heading to nearby onsens, everything is just a short drive or walk away.
The room was perfect for our group of three. It was spacious, well-designed, and equipped with all the necessary amenities. The beds and futons were very comfortable, and the overall atmosphere was cozy and quiet — great for resting after a long day of sightseeing. We appreciated the thoughtful touches like extra towels, slippers, and good quality toiletries.
One of the biggest highlights was the bathroom. Ours had a large window overlooking the city and surrounding hills — soaking in the tub while enjoying the view was a real treat and added a luxurious touch to the stay.
The room is very clean and bed is comfortable. The check in was smooth and the staff were courteous and efficient. Ms Naruse, from the Front Desk was super helpful in making a dinner reservation for us at an izakaya nearby. She managed to help us with the reservation and we enjoyed the dinner very much 👍🏼. We had a great stay the JR Kyushu Blossom hotel. Thank you!
The closest hotel to Harmonyland which allows you to take taxi to and from the theme park at a reasonable price.
The hotel basically provides everything from snacks, drinks and meals all day including dinner and breakfast, everything was excellent. I was aware that Mercure is an international hotel chain thus the vibes of the hotel itself can’t truly be entirely Japanese. However, I was still very satisfied with my stay overall.
I was so lucky to see some cherry blossom trees still in their peak at the hotel parking lot while the peak of most other trees in different areas had already passed.
The hotel also offers free shuttle from and to Beppu Station which we found to be very helpful.
Our stay at the hotell in Japan was truly magical. The hot springs provided a relaxing and rejuvenating experience for the entire family. The traditional Japanese hospitality was evident in every detail, from the exquisite meals to the warm and attentive service. The serene surroundings and beautifully designed rooms made our stay incredibly comfortable and memorable. We highly recommend this onsen hotel for anyone looking to unwind and experience authentic Japanese culture.
It's right next to Hita Station, and the room condition is very good. I especially stayed on a high floor, so the view is really pretty. It's quiet and peaceful, so it's nice to just look at it.
The hotel environment is good, there is a 24-hour supermarket nearby, suitable for self-drive tours, the hotel has a Hong Kong brother, attentive service, and happy to help solve the problem, and he also recommends many attractions😍

I recently stayed at a hotel booked through Trip.com, and while the location, cleanliness, and facilities were quite nice, I had a very disappointing experience with the service provided by the hotel staff.
When I booked the hotel, the description on Trip.com (in Korean) clearly indicated that the room would have two beds and two floor beds. However, upon arrival, we found that the room only had two beds and one floor bed. When I brought this discrepancy to the attention of the hotel staff, they informed me that we would need to pay extra for an additional floor bed. They explained that the description in the itinerary merely indicated the maximum capacity of the room and that, since we had booked meals for only three people (breakfast and dinner), we could not receive an extra floor bed at no charge. I opted for the three-person meal plan because one of my family members is a five-year-old child who does not eat much, and I wanted to avoid unnecessary food waste.
I understand that interpretations of the itinerary may vary, but the attitude of the hotel staff was unacceptable. During my communication with them, I was put on hold for five minutes, only to be told that there was nothing they could do. After urging them to adhere to the terms of the itinerary, I was placed on hold again for ten minutes. Unfortunately, I had to hang up as it was time for dinner, and the hotel did not follow up with any response after I returned.
This experience significantly affected my family's mood, and what was supposed to be a pleasant stay turned into a frustrating ordeal. I hope that Trip.com can address this issue to prevent future guests from having similar experiences.
Stylist hotel, spacious room and very good view to see the scene of Beppu. Staff are nice and helpful. Breakfast is very good and yummy. Wish will be equipped with a gym room.
This hotel is right next to JR Oita station, 100m walk. Super convenient. Reception staff also very helpful. Best part is the freebies for all guests - you must definitely not miss the free ramen in the evening starting 9.30pm and Hershey ice cream after hot spring. Simple things but it enhances the stay experience overall. Room is well designed too with sufficient space for big luggage. Will definitely consider Dormy Inn chain more in the future when visiting Japan.
The location was good because it was close to Hita Station on foot, and although it was not Korean or English, the staff guided me as much as possible with a translator and was friendly. It's an old building, but there was no messy feeling separate from the old one, and I enjoyed the hot spring bath comfortably with good water in two chartered baths. Breakfast was also a very good Japanese family style in terms of value for money. However, since there is only a private bath to take a shower, both of them could not take a shower if others were using it.

HHiu Wai, Peggy ChauI was worried because there are many bad reviews. It turned out it wasn't that bad, though I doubt if it is worth the high price overall. The location is good, conveniently located near Kitahama bus service centre and Beppu Station. Locating the entrance is a challenge, especially when you are with luggage. The hotel staff a nice, but I can picture that if you dun speak a bit of Japanese, it might be a bit hard to communicate with the staff.
The overall environment is nice, clean room and nice private onsen bath. A curtain is appropriate in the balcony for more privacy. It is a bit dark, both inside the room and in the corridor.
Dining is nice, great food. know it's a common practice to have set time for dinner and breakfast, but as a first time visitor to Oita, the 5:30pm dinner time was too early for me. However, the 7:30pm was fully booked on my first day of visit. Breakfast started at 7:30 and it's too late for me to catch the train so I can visit Harmonyland. There could be more flexibility for dining options and time, considering the high price guests are charged.
There are many activities and I love the outdoor footbath and the free coffee and tea service at the travelers' library.
I would still recommend the hotel to visitors to Beppu.

GGuest UserThe hot springs are heavenly in the winter. There is a jacuzzi in each room, but the public bath is much better. The staff doesn't speak English well, but since they don't, communication seems to be better. It's convenient, close to the main street, and the Japanese garden is very charming. The kaiseki cuisine and breakfast are also excellent. It's worth the price.

AAnonymous Usergood value for money! would definitely stay again
location: it's relatively further from the station , around a 8-10min walk. there is a 7-11 just around the corner
room: my room came without a bathroom but for the ladies are 3 cubicles shared among the 7 mix gendered guests on the floor. i did not have to wait in line at all. there was more than enough space in the room to open my suitcase wide and still feel comfortable. bed and pillow was a bit hard though, and you can hear anyone talking loudly downstairs outside the building as the room is on 2nd floor, tho that doesnt happen very often.
food: amazing balanced breakfast that changes everyday - really delicious!
onsen: the one on 2F was smaller than 1F, but very good and comfortable. clean too. you can book a private onsen room for 500yen (50mins)
staff: all of them were super friendly, helpful and made me feel welcome. there are english-proficient staff available 24H as well :)
Ssgsolovery happy to have booked this hotel. very well located hotel, walkable fr yufuin station. breakfast and dinner every day was very nice, some days better than others but excellent nonetheless. place is a little old but is well kept. room is also rather large and we had the mountain view which was amazing. hotel onsen water can be a little too hot, so sensitive ppl do be careful. will come again.
GGuest UserGreat experience overall!
Room - clean and large, very new.
Service - guest experience agent in concierge is awesome! I really appreciate the service Ami provided. The restaurant recommendations/ books have been very smooth. English communication is also great! Hassin sushi (八新壽司) is a must go omakase sushi place while typpenyaki place recommended also provided excellent quality wagyu beef. We also tried western style breakfast recommended (莊園小町) Super nice too!
Onsen - very new with splendid view. Just some business visitors from south east Asia who are not familiar with onsen rules were very noisy.
Food - breakfast is quite nice - suggest trying it outside.
Location - needs to driver around 10-20 mins to the restaurants in the city but overall all ok
Free valet parking is good.
Overall excellent experience!
