#cruisetrip I recently returned from an unforgettable Mediterranean cruise, and I’m still buzzing from the experience! 🛳️ The journey took me to three stunning destinations: Malta, Cyprus, and Mallorca, each offering its own unique charm and beauty. First stop was Malta, and let me tell you, Valletta is like stepping into a postcard. The architecture is incredible, and St. John’s Co-Cathedral is a must-see. We spent the day wandering the narrow streets, soaking in the history. The entrance fee for the cathedral was around €15, but it’s worth every cent for the intricate interiors alone. Plus, the harbor views are just breathtaking. 🌅 Next up was Cyprus, where we docked in Limassol. From there, we took a short trip to the ancient city of Kourion. The ruins, especially the amphitheater overlooking the sea, were absolutely stunning. Cyprus is a blend of ancient history and beautiful beaches, and the local food was a highlight—don’t miss out on trying some traditional meze! 🍽️ We spent the afternoon lounging at Lady’s Mile Beach, a perfect spot for relaxation. Wow! I finally checked in at the legendary Mint Street in Malta, which is simply breathtakingly beautiful! Isn't this the scene from 'Inception'? At first glance, the street with its huge slope is simply astonishing! The old Mint Street is definitely the most photographed characteristic old street in the ancient city of Valletta! Although it's called Mint Street, it actually means 'coinage'. This place was once the site of a coin minting factory during the time of the Knights, hence the name Mint Street. Walking on the old Mint Street, you can see at a glance that the long street forms a U-shaped slope along the terrain, making you want to rush down all the way! At the end of the street, there's a Baroque-style domed church, and in the distance, the Mediterranean backdrop of blue sky and sea is simply breathtaking! Buddies, when you come to Malta, you must check in at Mint Street! This place is definitely a photography paradise, instantly elevating your travel photos by several notches! It is called the United Nations Day, an exhibition to celebrate UN77 years anniversary and this colorful designed "Enlightened Universe" by Mr. Cristobal Gabarron entitled Colors of Hope, it was originally began in New York in the year 2015 and travel to different country every year from October to December to show the Unity of different countries. Parliament House and Courts of Justice in the capital of Malta are two important buildings, because they represent the legislative and judiciary branches of the nation. The former is the meeting place of the Parliament of Malta and this new building constructed between 2011 and 2015 is controversial because of the modern design and the high cost. Many have compared the cladding design to a cheese grater or a dovecote. I certainly do think it looks unique though. The Courts of Justice building does not look extraordinarily special as it is built in the neoclassical style in late 1960s. Head to the stunning capital city of Malta, that is Valletta. Known for its museums, palaces and grand churches, this walled city is a cultural masterpiece. After walking in through the city gate, we headed over to Auberge de Castille. Sitting at the highest point of Valletta, this building was built in the beautiful Baroque style architecture in the 1740’s. From here, you can get some great panoramic views of the city, and it is also just a stones throw away from the Upper Barraka. Many people describe this as one of the best views in Malta, and they’re not wrong. The garden is beautiful in its own right, but when you step out onto the terrace and are treated to the views of the grand harbour and the three cities, you can’t help but be blown away. It’s also from here that you can witness a bit of history that you won’t want to miss. Every day apart from Sunday, at midday and 4pm, the guns are fired from a restored British Saluting battery, located at the lower tier of the bastion. Here’s my top tip - don’t pay for entry into the bastion. You get a perfect view from the gardens, and you don’t have to pay a penny. By this time, you’ve probably worked up an appetite, so after a bit more exploring, make sure you grab a pastizz. It’s a savoury pastry, with either ricotta or curried peas inside. They’re a cheap eat, so why not grab one of each! To finish off the day, make sure you check out Valletta at night. One particular highlight is the Triton Fountain after sunset.
