Xi'an is back! 3 days and 2 nights non-detour guide! Quickly save it
After three trips to Xi'an,
I have summarized this super detailed 3-day and 2-night guide.
Friends who want to come recently, hurry up and save it!
Especially friends departing from Chengdu, highly recommend 🚅, very convenient.
✔️Day1
Morning: Chengdu 🚅 Xi'an, arrive at the hotel at noon, start citywalk in the afternoon to check in at Xi'an Dazibao, and see the night view of the Bell Tower.
It is recommended to book a hotel near the Bell Tower, as it is very convenient to travel by subway. After arriving at the hotel at noon and resting for a while, start walking around to check in at various Xi'an Dazibao walls and landmarks.
After dinner, go to the fifth floor of Kaiyuan Mall to see the night view of the bustling Bell Tower.
✔️Day2
Guangren Temple - Big Wild Goose Pagoda - Xiangzi Temple - Yongning Gate City Wall - Great Tang All Day Mall
Be sure to get up early to go to Guangren Temple to take pictures of the red walls and white pagoda, as there are not many people at this time.
Next, go to Joy City. You don't need to enter the Big Wild Goose Pagoda; you can take photos with the pagoda from outside.
After lunch, it is recommended to go back to the hotel to rest for a while, and then come out for a citywalk in the afternoon.
Citywalk route: Xiangzi Temple Street ➡️ Defu Lane ➡️ Shuyuanmen, the scenery along the way is beautiful, with ancient walls and old trees complementing each other, giving a strong sense of history.
There are many people at Yongning Gate City Wall, and it is very hot, so it is recommended to go later to watch the sunset from the city wall.
✔️Day3
Leisurely museum tour: Anrenfang Ruins Exhibition Hall and Shaanxi Art Museum
If you want to understand the history of the ancient capital Chang'an, you must not miss the museums.
We went to the Anrenfang Ruins Exhibition Hall and the Shaanxi Art Museum. Each museum has its own merits. Personally, I prefer Anrenfang, as it is very photogenic, and the design inside is great. If I have the chance, I would like to visit the Xi'an Museum next time. Remember to make reservations in advance for the museums.
About accommodation:
It is recommended to choose a hotel near the Bell Tower first, as it is very convenient to go to the attractions.
About food:
Lamb paomo, biangbiang noodles, oil-splashed noodles, roujiamo... There are really too many delicious foods in Shaanxi, and they are all quite heavy in flavor!
Thank you for reading, see you next time 👋🏻

A travel guide to Xi'an for first-timers!
Local tips coming your way! If you're planning a trip to Xi'an, you must read and save this practical guide I've painstakingly put together❤️🔥
For your reference✨
🔥Must-visit attractions
👉🏻Bell Tower, Drum Tower: The Bell Tower is located in the center of Xi'an, a landmark building, and the Drum Tower is next to the Muslim Quarter. Both are close by, a 5-minute walk apart, and there's a joint ticket for climbing both towers for 50 RMB;
🌸Tips: The views from the towers and from the outside each have their own charm. For outdoor photos, go to the observation deck on the 5th floor of Kaiyuan Mall next to the Bell Tower. The photo angle is superb, and it's free❗
👉🏻Tang Paradise, Big Wild Goose Pagoda: These places are frequently trending online. It's less crowded during the day, but the real scene comes alive at night;
It's recommended to go in the afternoon, start with the Big Wild Goose Pagoda (no need to go up, outdoor photos are classic). You can check the performance schedule on the Tang Paradise official account, plan ahead to queue for the show you're most interested in, as it really gets crowded to the point of questioning life
👉🏻Xi'an City Wall: Allocate enough time here, it's easy to get up but hard to come down, with a total length of 13.7 kilometers. It's worth renting a bicycle to go around (45 RMB/3 hours). The Yongning Gate is the most classic city gate, and it's the best spot for a photo🌈
👉🏻Terracotta Army: Tickets are 120 RMB per person, located outside the main urban area of Xi'an, quite far, one of the world's eight wonders. Don't set your expectations too high, it's one of those heritage sites where you feel like since you're there, you've got to check it off your list. Hiring a guide can make it more interesting.
🔥Must-try local foods
Shaanxi cuisine: You can go to Chang'an Stove under Yongning Gate, classic and authentic, with dishes like gourd chicken, clothes-hanging tripe that are both good-looking and tasty, and elbow rice that's very fragrant. You can also enjoy the city wall view⭐️
Snacks: Roujiamo (meat sandwich), gourd chicken, beef and mutton paomo (locals prefer beef paomo, ✨it's suggested to try paomo, water basin, and small stir-fry, each with its own flavor), gourd head, zeng cake (don't buy mirror cake, it's not tasty! Take my advice!), biangbiang noodles, rice skin, meatball hot and spicy soup, oil tea;
The Muslim Quarter is not as bad as rumored, avoid common snacks like grilled squid❌
Recommended is Grandma's sour plum soup, choose half-and-half with fermented glutinous rice sour plum soup, delicious!

I had the opporunity to see Xian's Bell tower thrice and I always get to see it since I was also touring family and friends around. This bell tower is more beautiful at night as it lights up but it is beautiful anyway no matter what time of the day it is. It is near all the other tourist attractions in Xian so you can definitely drop by here and admire its beauty. You can go inside as well if that is what you prefer for only 35 rmb. Enjoy!

Xian art gallery
Location: Xian Zhonglou Art Gallery, Xian, Shaanxi, China
Entrance fee: 50¥
Date: June 22, 2022
This is a nice art gallery in the center of Xian. It’s quite small but there are different parts, where we can take photos, walk around and enjoy the view.
This is an awesome place to take pictures for social media. There are mirrors, colorful lights and many interesting things which will catch your attention. My fav part was the universe: planets and the moon.

Bell Tower of Xi'an
Location: Bell Tower, the center of Xi'an. Also known as Zhong Lou.
Getting there: Take line 2 subway to Zhong Lou station.
This landmark is in the very center of Xi'an. It is located between the north and south gate of the city wall. A short walk from Muslim street, this is a large roundabout area where you can admire this traditional building. You can pay 35 RMB to get inside and get a fine view of Xi'an from the top.
I enjoy going to the City Wall and go to Drum Tower (both nearby) to photograph Bell Tower.
There are shopping malls nearby to enjoy food and drink too.

Bell & Drum Towers of Xi’an 🔔 🥁
Rainy evening in downtown Xi'an 🌧🌧🌧
Bell Tower located in the center of Xi'an, at the intersection of the four streets of the east, west, south and north. It is the largest and most preserved one amongst the many bell towers left over from ancient China.
The Drum Tower is closeby along the northwest of the Bell Tower. Both of them are called the “sister buildings” or “morning bell and dark drum”.
One could walk along the streets of Muslim Quarters nearby tasting a number of delicious Shaanxi snacks and also checkout the Great Mosque, one of the oldest, largest and best-preserved Islamic mosques in China.

Bell Tower of Xian
Location: Bell tower, Xian, Shaanxi, China
Entrance fee: Free
Date: February 6 & 22, 2022
The Bell Tower of Xian built in 1384 during Ming dynasty. It’s located in the center of the city.
There’s a legend about the Bell Tower. There was a huge underground snake, who was the cause of frequent earthquakes in the city. The Bell Tower was built to expel the Snake from the Chinese land. After its construction, the earthquake really stopped happening, and the tower was assigned with another functions. Every morning, the huge Bell Tower announced the start of the day to Xian citizens.
This place is very beautiful and it’s surrounded with shopping malls, cafes and restaurants. Muslim street is next to the Bell Tower. So you can go there, eat some local food and yummy snacks.

"The luxury Shaanxi Cuisine"
Xi'an Fan Zhuang Restaurant 西安饭庄
Location: Shaanxi Province, Xi'an City, Beilin District, Da Jie 110 (just right in front of Bell Tower)
The Delicious Shaanxi Cuisine could be tasted right up here. Actually, I discovered this place accidentally during my roaming the surroundings of Bell Tower. I just planned to across the road by underground path and suddenly spotted the board of restaurant. The dishes are unbelievable tasty! Yes, it is required to wait until the food be cooked, because it is not street food, but it worth it.

Bell Tower
The Bell Tower with a history of over 600 years, is located at the center of Xian City, at the junction of the South, North, East and West Roads in the city. It is the largest bell tower in structure and shape and best-preserved one in China.
What to See in the Bell Tower
【Giant Bell】The bell originally hanging in the Bell Tower bell was the Jingyun Bell casted in Tang Dynasty, which was used in Jinglong Temple before. In early Ming Dynasty, it was moved to the Bell Tower. In 1953, the bell was protected and moved to Xian Stone Steles Museum, and now is exhibit in Dongting of Ermengli.
【Inscription】At the west wall of Xian Bell Tower’s first floor of the hall were inlaid with three inscriptions: the first one was from Xian People’s Government after the renovation in 1953; the second o ne was left by Shaanxi Provincial Governor Zhang Kaishu in Qing Dynasty; and the third inscription was wrote by Gong Maoxiang, the Shaanxi Supervisory Censor of Ming Dynasty.
【Couplets】On the four doors of the second floor of the tower, there is on couplets on each door.

Xi'an has the most light up buildings I've ever seen in China. It is so colorful that you must walk around during the evenings and experience it yourself ❣ There is no specific place but rather various areas to visit. If you like to take pictures and capture the moment like me then this is something that you will love 👌
In below pictures you see the Bell Tower, the Giant Goose Pagoda and parts of the Datang Everbright city.

The historic Bell Tower from early Ming dynasty. I love how the city built its roads and new buildings around the Bell Tower. A perfect example of preserving history while developing the city.

the Bell tower is at the very heart of this beautiful and authentic city of Xi'An. it serves as an orientation to the airport shuttle bus so If you don't know where this particular shuttle bus goes to - just ask whether it goes to Xi'an Bell tower. if so - you will go straight to the city center. the shuttle bus actually stops a bit further - at the gate if the bell tower hotel but it's within 5 minutes walk to Subway station and to various public transits

📍The Bell Tower, Xi’an
I prefer Xi’an bell tower at night. The light was so eye catchy😍 I came around bell tower almost everyday during night. my hostel was around that area. The thing is i never made it inside. Me and my cousin were busy going to places that further away and forgot about this beauty. If only this place opened at night..

Stayed at a hotel in Xi'an for 157 with my boyfriend! Tips for surprising your long-distance relationship partner! It was really nice to stay here
Giant screen projection and bubble bath near the Bell Tower
Sisters coming to Xi'an for National Day, don't miss this!
The room was very comfortable~
The room was also super large, especially the bed, I loved it! You can take beautiful photos when the sun is out, and the huge projector is perfect for taking a bath, drinking beer, and watching a movie at night! The windows are double-layered! So it's super soundproof, and I slept very well at night!

The host was very gentle and responsible, responded very promptly to any needs, and I will choose this place again next time I come out to play~
The location is really good
The homestay is on Huimin Street, very convenient, a three-minute walk from the subway station, and very close to the Bell Tower and Beidajie, just a ten-minute walk, very convenient, and there is a snack street at the door, quiet in the midst of the hustle and bustle!

The Bell Tower in Xi’an
The Bell Tower in Xi’an is a beautiful historical site located right in the heart of the city. It’s a striking landmark, both during the day and at night when it’s illuminated with golden lights. As one of the best-preserved ancient towers in China, it’s a must-visit for those interested in Chinese history and architecture. The structure itself is magnificent, with traditional Chinese design featuring red walls, green glazed tiles, and intricate carvings. Climbing the stairs to the top of the tower offers a great view of the bustling city below, with its mix of modern and ancient surroundings. The panoramic view from the top is one of the highlights of the visit, especially at night when you can see the vibrant lights of the city.Inside, there are exhibits showcasing ancient bells and artifacts, along with information on the history of the tower, which was originally built during the Ming Dynasty. I was especially impressed with the live traditional music performances held inside the tower. The sounds of ancient Chinese instruments such as the guzheng added a lovely cultural touch to the experience. The Bell Tower’s central location makes it easily accessible and a convenient stop if you’re exploring Xi'an. It's within walking distance to many other attractions, such as the Drum Tower and the Muslim Quarter, where you can enjoy local food and vibrant street culture.Overall, the Bell Tower is not just a historical monument but also a symbol of Xi'an's rich cultural heritage. While it might not take long to tour the entire structure, it’s worth the visit for its architecture, historical significance, and the beautiful views it offers of this ancient capital.

What a marvelous site. Each time I saw the tower it was night. Although the city has threaded lights all over the bell tower. It glows in the night! Catch glimpses of locals dressed in traditional garments as they pose for creative photos. Shop nearby the towers and experience the taste of Xi’an. The streets are wide for walking or cycling.
Just across from the drum tower and looking fairly similar, another symbol of Xian at 600 years old. They do have a bell that is much older at about 1300 years old. Do note they close at 530pm each day so come early

Dreaming back to the Tang Dynasty
Xi'an, formerly known as "Chang'an".
With the rise of social media, Xi'an's rich historical culture and trendy ways to play have attracted more and more tourists.
Not only are there the Terracotta Warriors, Bell Tower, Drum Tower, and Shaanxi Museum to feel the marks of history.
There are also novel experiences like the "Unfallen Lady", Tang Paradise, Everlasting Regret, and Hanfu dress-up.
No matter what age group you are in, you can find elements you like in Xi'an.
【Three-day tour route recommendation】
DAY1
Xi'an Bell Tower ➡ Xi'an Drum Tower ➡ Xi'an City Wall ➡ Gao Family Courtyard ➡ Muslim Street.
tips
1. Bell Tower/Drum Tower
Xi'an's landmark buildings, tickets: both 30r.
It is recommended to only climb the Drum Tower, which has drum music and bell performances inside, and the scenery of the two is similar.
If you are not interested, you can take photos outside without buying tickets to go inside.
You can go to the platform of the nearby Kaiyuan Mall to watch the Bell Tower.
The Bell Tower and Drum Tower lit up at night are really different from the daytime, and the popular dress-up transition on the internet uses the night view of the Bell and Drum Towers as the background.
2. Xi'an City Wall
Tickets: 54r.
The largest and most well-preserved ancient city wall in China.
The city wall is very long, you can rent a bicycle to ride on it.
3. Gao Family Courtyard
Tickets: 15r.
Currently the most well-preserved Ming and Qing dynasty ancient building in Xi'an, with a history of 400 years.
There are intangible cultural heritage performances inside: shadow puppetry, string puppets, Huayin Laoqiang, etc. Pay attention to the performance times, performances have additional charges.
4. Muslim Street
A very popular specialty food street in Xi'an, but reviews are mixed.
Muslim Street is a collective name for many alleys, it is recommended not to eat on the main street of Muslim Street, you can walk inside.
DAY2
Shaanxi History Museum ➡ Big Wild Goose Pagoda ➡ Joy City ➡ Tang Paradise ➡ Tang Paradise Night City
tips
1. Shaanxi History Museum
Tickets are hard to get all year round, note that it is closed on Mondays.
I went to Xi'an during the off-season, and I couldn't get tickets after several days of trying.
I even stayed near the museum to adjust my itinerary conveniently.
In the end, I didn't make it.
2. Big Wild Goose Pagoda
You don't need to buy tickets to go inside, you can just take photos outside.
You can also go to the platform of the nearby Joy City for a better view and better photos.
3. Tang Paradise
Tickets: 120r.
There is a large water screen light show performance at night, you can also row a boat, the night view is very beautiful, and wearing Hanfu to tour the garden has a great atmosphere.
But many friends think the ticket price is high and not worth it, you can go directly to Tang Paradise Night City to play.
4. Tang Paradise Night City
You must go at night!
The performance times are fixed, if you want a good spot, you must queue up early.
For example, the Unfallen Lady performance and the fountain performance.
Highly recommend the fountain performance!
Tang Paradise Night City is very crowded at night, it is hard to get a taxi, and traffic jams are severe, you can walk to another location first before taking a taxi.
DAY3
Terracotta Warriors ➡ Huaqing Palace ➡ Lishan ➡ Watch Everlasting Regret performance
tips
1. Terracotta Warriors
Tickets: 120r.
Three parts to see, seven parts to listen, it is best to find a guide.
Or download a guide about the Terracotta Warriors on Bilibili in advance and listen with headphones.
There are a lot of people, sometimes you will be pushed by the crowd, and it is easy to have difficulty breathing when there are many people.
We went before Qingming, the flowers had just bloomed, everyone was taking photos under the trees outside, maybe because it was too tiring to stay inside.
2. Huaqing Palace
Tickets: 120r.
An ancient palace with a history of more than 2,000 years, Huaqing Palace is very large, the scenery is pleasant, suitable for a slow stroll.
3. Lishan
The most beautiful mountain road, the scenery along the way is good, and there are many cultural relics and historic sites on the mountain.
4. Everlasting Regret performance
Tickets for Everlasting Regret are hard to book, usually need to be booked five days in advance, it is recommended to watch the first performance, the second performance ends at 11 pm, which is a bit too late.
【Specialty food】

【Warm reminder】
1. There is no off-season for tourism in Xi'an, only that there are more people and it is hotter during the summer vacation.
2. If you want to rent ancient costumes, you must go to a regular store, otherwise, you will be scammed, it looks better after the lights are on at night.
You will find many foreign friends also wearing Hanfu, it really feels like traveling back to the Tang Dynasty at night.
3. Do sun protection well, prevent heatstroke in summer.
4. If you want to eat authentic Shaanxi cuisine in Xi'an, go to Sangen Electric Pole Shaanxi Restaurant, it is near the Bell and Drum Towers, I personally think it is okay.
5. Xi'an is close to Huashan, Huashan is worth visiting! Highly recommended!
Our itinerary on the first day was affected by rain, we didn't go to Gao Family Courtyard. We also didn't see the Bell and Drum Towers lit up.
We didn't get tickets to the Shaanxi History Museum on the second day.
It seems that Xi'an needs another visit!

The independent homestay in the Garden is so beautiful!!
The homestay is located within the city walls of Xi'an, quiet amidst the hustle and bustle.
The independent homestay has four floors in total, with an open-air bar on the top floor?
I love coming back at night and buying some late-night snacks.
Sitting cross-legged and looking at this window with the ancient city wall is very pleasant~
The location is great! Right next to the city wall.
