Visiting Tokyo for the first time, how to unlock both the tradition and modernity of Tokyo?
Visiting Tokyo for the first time, how to unlock both the tradition and modernity of Tokyo? Or, if you only have 1 day, how to make the most of Tokyo? You can start from Asakusa Temple, walk across the Sumida River along the "Tokyo Water Street" to the Sky Tree, get to know Tokyo with your "vision"; or start a gourmet journey on the tip of your tongue, go to Shibuya Miyashita Park to taste the special food from all over Japan with your "taste"; In the evening, you can climb high and look far, watch a light show at Shibuya SHIBUYA SKY; finally, end the day's journey and return to the Tokyo Royal Prince Hotel Garden Tower Hotel, look up at the night sky of Tokyo and the Tokyo Tower, and "feel" the super romantic Tokyo!
【Asakusa】
The Asakusa area of Tokyo still retains the bold and unrestrained characteristics of the common people in the Edo period of Japan. The streets, temples, and shrines here inject a strong sense of history into this area. Riding a rickshaw, you can get another unique perspective to visit Asakusa. The rickshaw driver is very enthusiastic, taking us deep into the streets, making us feel the retro style of the Asakusa area in the Edo period.
【Sky Tree Street】
The Sky Tree not only overlooks the extraordinary beauty of the whole Tokyo, but also has more than 300 shops at the bottom of the tower, "Tokyo Sky Tree Street (TOKYO Solamachi)", where you can buy and eat Japanese specialties and food. Many shops can correspond in multiple languages, which is very convenient.
【Shibuya Miyashita Park】
When it comes to Shibuya, it reminds people of the bustling and bustling iconic crossroads. The treasure in the center of Shibuya is hidden in the high-rise buildings of Shibuya. Miyashita Park has now been reborn and has become a new type of open space, like a secret garden in a steel and concrete forest. The Shibuya Alley on the first floor is a food alley, where you can taste a variety of local Japanese foods.
【Shibuya SHIBUYA SKY】
The Shibuya landmark Scramble Square is currently the tallest building in Shibuya. The rooftop has the largest rooftop viewing space in Japan, "SHIBUYA SKY", as if walking in the clouds. There is also a special light show at night, like entering the time and space gate of another parallel world, it is really cool!

Tokyo Skytree
Tokyo Skytree is a must-visit attraction for anyone visiting Tokyo. Standing at 634 meters, it is the tallest tower in Japan and offers breathtaking views of the city from its two observation decks. The tower is located in Sumida, Tokyo and is easily accessible by train. The line to get in does take a while, and can be a little tricky to find the start of, so plan to arrive at the general area a few minutes in advance. I suggest to purchase tickets in advance. It was a weekend during Japan's summer vacation, so the place was pretty packed.

Tokyo Skytree, the tallest structure in Japan
#tokyotrip
Reaching a full height of 634m, Tokyo Skytree is no doubt the tallest structure and tower in Japan. It is built as the broadcasting and observation tower. It is primarily served as the primary television and radio broadcast site for the Kanto region, and the lower area is the commercial centre called Tokyo Solamachi, which comprises shops which sells cultural souvenirs and various local food. There are also many restaurants at the foot of the tower. The base of the tower is similar to a tripod, and from the height of 350m, it is cylindrical to offer a panoramic view of the river and the city. There are illumination for the lattice which is primarily purple and blue.

Wanpaku Tengoku
Japan is definitely one of the most popular destinations at the moment. There’s lots of info on Tokyo’s Disney and Osaka’s Universal Studios… but I’m going to introduce this adventure playground near Tokyo Skytree 🤭 It’s walking distance from the Tokyo Skytree, it’s free, it’s simple and fun.
Wanpaku Tengoku is a playground surrounded by wooden fort run by volunteers . The main athletics area have different climbing nets and bridges at a height with stilts and tricycles at the bottom for kids to play with. There is a zipline where kids can hang on from the top of a small hills. My kids got on the trikes and let it sped down from the hills 😂 Basketball loops with different heights are hammered on the trunks. At the entrance is the tooling shop or something, some creative wooden toys are left at the door for kids to play, my kids kept going back to fiddle with a couple of the classic game.

Tokyo Information | Easy Self-Guided Travel for Retirees (Part 2)
To embark on a self-guided trip to Japan, one can do some research beforehand in China or practice planning the trip on their own. For example, if one lives in Zhejiang, they can plan a self-guided trip to Hainan Province, arrange transportation by high-speed rail or flight, and plan one or two-day tours using public transportation upon arrival at the destination.
Heading to Tokyo for a self-guided tour? Here are a few one-day itinerary suggestions to share~
1. One-day tour to Ueno Park, Asakusa, and Tokyo Skytree.
This area is a typical Edo-style downtown area, and for the elderly, it is the place where they can immediately feel the "Japanese style"!
Breakfast can be arranged at the Starbucks in Ueno Onshi Park, then stroll along the trail to the National Museum of Western Art, Tokyo National Museum, and so on. For lunch, you can enjoy Western cuisine at "Ueno Seiyoken".
In the afternoon, take the Ginza Line from Ueno-hirokoji Station to Asakusa Station, take a walk to Senso-ji Temple in Asakusa, have some snacks at Nakamise-dori, and climb up to Asakusa Culture Tourist Information Center to see the panoramic view of Asakusa.
After nightfall, take the Asakusa Line from Asakusa Station to Oshiage Station and then head to the Skytree. There are many famous foods in the shopping center, so take a stroll and buy souvenirs while enjoying the night view after dinner!
2. One-day tour of Meiji Shrine, Omotesando, and Roppongi.
This area combines the green jungle of the city with modern civilization. In the morning, you can enjoy a Western-style breakfast at an American restaurant in front of Harajuku. The "Meiji Shrine", surrounded by greenery and a quiet atmosphere, is a favorite spot for the elderly. In the afternoon, you can appreciate the beauty of urban architecture on "Omotesando" and have an afternoon tea date. In the evening, you can enjoy dinner in "Roppongi" and then climb the "Mori Tower" to admire the Tokyo night view. (If you are interested in art appreciation, the "Roppongi Art Triangle" includes the Midtown, Roppongi Hills, and National Art Center Tokyo in Roppongi.)
3. One-day trip to the Ghibli Museum, Inokashira Park, and Kichijoji.
The Ghibli Museum is an art museum suitable for all ages. After enjoying breakfast in Tokyo, head to the outskirts to visit the "Mitaka" Ghibli Museum, a great attraction. Lunch can be enjoyed at the "Red Cap Cafe" inside the museum. After lunch, take a leisurely stroll through the beautiful "Inokashira Park" in any season, and even take a swan boat ride. In the afternoon, visit the nearby "Kichijoji Shopping Street" to browse through various shops and taste local snacks. It will surely be a perfect day trip. (If you still have energy, you can return to Shinjuku City Hall at night to enjoy the night view.)
4. Yokohama day trip
A day trip near the suburbs, Yokohama is also a great place to plan. You can go a little further to arrange "Kamakura", or even go to "Shonan Coast" and "Enoshima". Otherwise, you can go to "Akarenga Warehouse" for Bill's breakfast early in the morning, and then stroll around Yamashita Park and the harbor. For lunch, you can go to Chinatown, and after the meal, visit the Western-style buildings in the "Motomachi" and "Yamate area". In the evening, return to the "Yokohama Landmark Tower" for dinner, and then climb to the 70th floor to enjoy the Yokohama night view. This is also a complete day trip.
In Japan, you can see many silver-haired people traveling around after retirement. They start their life at the age of seventy. In Japan, you can also see many silver-haired people who, although retired, return to the workplace to work hard or participate in photography and flower arrangement courses to cultivate new interests. They manage their colorful life even in their old age. With a young mentality, as long as they have energy and time, come and join the silver-haired Tokyo free tour. Whether it's a couple, or with three to five good friends or old classmates, traveling together can bring new joy to life!
At the age of approaching sixty, I have been traveling to Tokyo for more than thirty years. I hope to bring more joy and help to everyone's travels!

Tokyo Skytree
One of my favorite locations: Tokyo Skytree. It was easy to reach via train and directly connected to the shopping mall. The shopping variety was alright but I prefer more of the level 5 area where all the snacks, and collectibles are at. Exiting the level 5 area is the path toward skytree where you can enjoy the cooling weather and take nice pictures of the surrounding. Will come.back again for the aquarium

The beauty of Tokyo Skytree
One of a must visit list if you’re traveling to Tokyo. This a the tallest tower in Japan. I lifted to the top of the Skytree. The ticket can be bought at the administration office on the basement. The Skytree is beautiful at a daytime or a night time. The 360 view from the top is amazing. you can see the whole Tokyo from the top floor. There has souvenir shops, photography shops aligning on the walking way.

Tokyo Skytree the World's Tallest Tower
Tokyo Skytree is the tallest tower in the world (634m), and third tallest structure in the world after Merdeka 118 in Malaysia and Burj Khalifa in Dubai. There are many attractions here for tourists, such as Sumida Aquarium, Pokemon Center, limited edition Gachapons, shopping malls, restaurants and cafes. With the combo ticket, you can go all the way up to Level 350 and Level 450. I arrived in the evening and was lucky to see the sunset at Mount Fuji, so beautiful even though it was just a tiny triangle from far. There is a Tembo Deck at Floor 340, remember to look down the view through the glass flooring. You can also take a photo here. Could be scary but worth trying. It is recommended to come around 4pm so you can enjoy both day view and night view. Tips: the sky gets dark around 5pm in Tokyo.

memorable Tokyo Skytree
It has been my habit to visit the observation towers of cities i visit. So being in Tokyo means a visit to Tokyo Skytree is a must! I wasnt disappointed!
Standing at 634m tall, it is actually the tallest building in the world! We choosed to visit in the evening so we could see the city transit from day to night. We spent a good 2 hours up there (with lots of other people) admiring the view and taking lots of photos.
There is a shopping mall at the bottom floors as well as dining places. I would recommend that you come here an hour before sunset. Spend time at the observation level, do some shopping, have dinner and then leave. It really is a place you must visit in Tokyo!

TOKYO SKYTREEis a broadcasting and observation tower in Sumida, Tokyo. It became the tallest structure in Japan in 2010 and reached its full height of 634 meters (2,080 ft) in March 2011, making it the tallest tower in the world, displacing the Canton Tower, and the second tallest structure in the world after the Burj Khalifa (829.8 m or 2,722 ft). It is also tallest freestanding structure in the OECD.

Moments at Tokyo Skytree, Tokyo, Japan
Tokyo Skytree is the tallest building in Tokyo, with an observatory and restaurant at its higher levels overlooking downtown Tokyo, and a large shopping structure at lower levels.
The Tokyo Skytree main tower is a modern, neo-futuristic design making the tower itself quite photogenic. As you’ll see in this post, there are numerous vantages nearby for photographing the Skytree, so even if you don’t want spend the money to go up, you can enjoy some of what the Skytree has to offer from the ground.
The 350 meter observation platform costs a little under $20 per person, while the 450 meter observation platform costs a little under $30 per person. We did the $20 option, as that already seemed steep in terms of price to us.
You purchase tickets on the 4th floor, where you can find the current wait time to go up, and also visibility conditions. Air quality can vary dramatically in Japan, so this is definitely something to consider when going up. On the day we went, visibility was moderate to good.
Overall, I’m not sure how much of a “review” is actually necessary for Tokyo Skytree. It’s a tall observation deck that’s one of those what-you-see-is-what-you-get type of experiences. Aside from the historical displays, it’s pretty much the same as any observation deck in any major city. If you are already in Asakusa and you want a cool view, go for it.
