One of the highlights of our trip was seeing the huge wooden statue of Buddha in one of the halls which is an impressive sight.

Yong He Gong aka 雍和宫 which is located in the capital of People's Republic of China Beijing and which is considered one of the best preserved Lama or Lamaism Buddhism temples outside if Tibet. Without any exaggerations, this temple is a unique germ in a Beijing cultural heritage necklace. Yong He Temple possesses very rare artifacts which could not be found anywhere else and therefore representing the difference between lamaism and other studied and giving the picture of Lama doctrine. At first, we are in Yong He Gong Lamaist monastery in the heart of Beijing City, Dongcheng district. Yong He Gong has a lot of artifacts but this one is really impressive, just mind shocking! Very tall solid Buddha stature created from bronze! It has no parts, it was moulded as it is during the Qing dynasty for the sake of those days emperor glory and popularization of Buddhism as the marketing guys could say now. Immense Buddha is dressed in very clean and beautiful clothes looks like watching you from a high altitude with a little smile. The west gate of Lama Temple is not far away. Feeling: The red bricks and green tiles of the city wall under the sun, and the birds flying in the blue sky are very pleasant. You can spend a leisurely afternoon here. Scenic spot: Ginkgo Avenue, the leaves are half yellow and half green. It is surrounded by temples, sheltered from the wind and facing the sun. The ginkgo leaves turn yellow later than those in the vast Ditan Park. The bell tower is hidden by ancient trees, making it difficult to capture its entirety. 📍 This itinerary will allow you to visit Beijing's most famous places, among them the Forbidden City, Summer Palace and Great Wall, in just a few days. 1️⃣ First day, take the subway to TianAnMen East or West 🚇, there you can enter the Forbidden City (make sure to have a reservation from their website first) Once you exit, head straight ahead to JingShan Park. You have the best you over the Forbidden City there. Take the subway back to TianAnMen, and enter the TianAnMen square (you need to make an appointment on Wechat by scanning the QR code) Walk down the square towards the south exit, there you can reach the QianMen pedestrian street. This is a good place to enjoy traditional food. You can also walk the Hutong nearby. 2️⃣ Take the subway to BeiGongMen station 🚇 there you have a short walk to the Summer Palace north entrance. You can buy a ticket at the entrance or through Wechat with the QR code (the complete ticket allows you to climb the Dehui Palace which is worth it. you can also buy the tickets at the entrance). You can enjoy the palace walking down towards the east gate and the NanHu island. Exit through the east gate and take a bus or Didi to the Lama Temple. You can have lunch in the streets around. Later visit the temple and give a prayer for good fortune. In the evening you can take some time to explore Wangfujin or Sanlitun, both have a busy night life. Houhai is also a good option for a more local experience. A hot pot is a recommended dinner option. 3️⃣ 🙊SECRET ITINERARY TO MUTIANYU🙊 For some reason I haven't found this itinerary anywhere, despite it being in my opinion the most convenient to reach the Great Wall. most guides recommend a tourist bus, taking the suburban train to Huairou North which takes more than an hour, or hiring a private driver which is very expensive. Instead you can take a high speed train from Beijing Chaoyang station and go down at Huairou South. The train takes around 20mn and costs 22元. There you can order a didi or taxi for ~60元. The overall trip takes a little more than an hour. Once in Mutianyu you can buy a ticket for the shuttle bus and cable cars. Get up the wall and start hiking towards Tower 20, which is the highest point you can reach. After you get back to the cable cars entrance, you can use the cable cars to go down, or stay on the wall and go down using the toboggans. You should then head back to Beijing for a well deserved meal. I would suggest heading to a location you didn't visit on the previous day, and get some Peking Duck.

Subway dropped me at HomeInn, a budget chain with all the basics. Tired but curious, I hit Qianmen and Dashilan streets for a quick China vibe. After dark, they glow—grab a snack! Day 2: Forbidden City, Jingshan, Wangfujing Started with the Forbidden City (UNESCO gem). Early rise beat some crowds; tip: book tickets online (English site, Visa worked). Queues can confuse—staff help. Then, Jingshan Park for a breather and view. Starving, I hit Quanjude on Wangfujing for unreal Peking duck. Day 3: Lama Temple, Confucius Temple, Hutongs Slept in (duck coma!), then Lama Temple—active monastery, incense galore. Next, quiet Confucius Temple with birds and hutongs nearby. Perfect for a chill wander and bite. Day 4: Temple of Heaven, 798 Art District Mixed it up: Temple of Heaven (architecture win) in the AM, then 798 Art District—old base, now artsy. Loved the contrast. Day 5: Great Wall Saved the best: Great Wall at Jinshanling (165 km out). Off-season train (Beijing North → Gubeikou) was scenic. Hike was epic—bring cash, mobile pay’s spotty. Final Thoughts Immigration asked if I’d stay in Beijing the whole trip. Thought, Why? Now I see—5 days wasn’t enough. Unfortunately, this morning's strong wind blew away the remaining flowers, so you can only admire them in my photos now… 📍Exit Yonghegong subway station and walk west to the red wall outside the west gate of Yonghe Temple.

Flowers are blooming all over Beijing now, so I recommend this flower viewing route. 1️⃣ Pictures 9 and 10: North Second Ring Road moat on the north side of Yonghe Temple. There are corridors on both sides, and now the willows are sprouting and the flowering peaches are blooming. 2️⃣ Picture 6: There are several white peach blossoms in bloom at the back door of Yonghe Temple. 3️⃣ Walk south along Yonghegong Street, and the magnolia flowers on both sides of the street are in full bloom.
