Nagoya turned out to be a much more charming city than I expected! 🍲 Nagoya Cuisine From misokatsu, motsunabe, to hitsumabushi, the city is full of culinary delights. There are so many hidden gems in every alley that three meals a day just aren't enough (and there are so many beautiful cafes too ♡). 🤖 Nagoya for Anime Fans If you're an anime enthusiast, you must visit Osu Shopping Street! I spent an entire day shopping for merchandise and still felt it wasn't enough ㅠㅠ. They have everything from figures, posters, to limited-edition goods, which really ignited my collector's spirit ㅎㅎ. If you look carefully, you might even find some items at a bargain price 😼. 🏞️ Nagoya Attractions I took a bus tour to Takayama and Shirakawa-go, and they are must-visit spots. The scenery was so beautiful that it brought a sense of peace to my heart. Note that you need to pay extra (cash only) for the bus that takes you to the observation deck! It was quite hot during summer, but I think it would be wonderful to visit in winter. 🩷 Overall Impression of Nagoya The city is clean, and the people are friendly, making it a comfortable destination for solo travelers. However, the Sakae area can feel a bit crowded and the alleys slightly unsafe during the evening, so solo travelers should always stay cautious. I was so satisfied with my trip that I want to visit again with more time to explore everything. I highly recommend you visit Nagoya too!

#SeptemberTravelSupport Nagoya Night Nagoya Travelogue – The Excitement of the First Evening Arriving in Nagoya around dusk, the city's vibrant energy and neon lights greeted travelers. A little tired from the long drive, I decided, "Beer is a must on the first day of a trip!" and headed straight to a local izakaya. A cold Nagoya draft beer paired with a local snack, monjayaki, quickly made the unfamiliar city feel familiar. The tower, seen from above amidst the sparkling nightscape, seemed like a symbol of the start of my trip. I finally felt a sense of accomplishment: "I'm in Nagoya!" The highlight of the next day was watching a baseball game. Ichiran Ramen before the game was a must, haha. Entering the Nagoya Dome, the excitement and cheers of the fans enveloped me. Japanese professional baseball, with its distinct atmosphere from Korea, was more impressive for the cheering culture and the passion of the audience than the actual game itself. As we cheered and enjoyed chicken and beer amidst the cheering crowds that filled the stadium, the stadium felt more than just a sports venue, it felt like a festival. It was a short trip, but the leisurely evening beer → the excitement of the tower → the roar of the stadium. Most people who travel to Nagoya will choose to take a train from Central Japan International Airport directly to Nagoya Station; however, I think this is a bit of a waste of time. The route I chose was to take the train from the airport to Kanayama Station, and then transfer to the subway (purple) Meijo Line to get off at Sakae Shopping District. Because it takes less time to go to major attractions from Sakae Station than from Nagoya Station! In addition, there is an underground food street at Sakae subway station, and there are many department stores, pharmacies, Oasis 21, Nagoya TV Tower, etc. in the Sakae Shopping District on the road, which are within walking distance; it is very convenient for both shopping and sightseeing. This time, I not only went to Nagoya Castle, Tokugawa Garden, Yanghuizhuang, Osu Kannon, and Bunka Futabakan in the city, but also went to Korankei in the suburbs of Toyota City. I walked around the former Hokkaido Government Office Building, the Clock Tower, the TV Tower, and the JR Sapporo Tower Observatory. It took about an hour and a half. Many domestic and international tourists do this sightseeing on foot. The night view from the 32nd floor of the JR Sapporo Tower Observatory is spectacular. The former Hokkaido Government Office Building and the Clock Tower close around 5pm, so it's recommended to go there first. Rokkatei Sapporo Main Branch is located across from the Keio Plaza Hotel Sapporo where I stayed, and I bought some souvenirs there. Unfortunately, I couldn't enter the cafe inside the store because orders stop at 4:30pm.

"Sukhontha" is a restaurant certified by the Kingdom of Thailand. This is a popular Thai restaurant with five locations in Nagoya. I had lunch at the "Layered Hisaya Odori Park" at the foot of the Nagoya TV Tower. I ordered the popular green curry lunch. I thought it was amazing that this restaurant comes with a plate of chicken for lunch! The green curry is mild and full of ingredients. The chicken is crispy and comes with lettuce, so it feels healthy. I often see waiting on weekends. Nagoya may not be the most popular nor biggest city in Japan but it is definitely worth visiting especially when transmitting to Shirakagowa. Nagoya is the 4th largest city besides Tokyo, Osaka and Yokohama. It is the major transport hub between Osaka, Tokyo and Kyoto. Main attractions includes Nagoya castle, Ghibli Park, Hisaya Odori Park, Nagoya TV tower which is one of the oldest TV towers in Japan. Nagoya is located around 90mins away from Tokyo by bullet train. Two to three days in Nagoya is more than enough. Best months to visit are March to May which is dry and sunny. Nagoya is famous for local produce of fresh water eel called unagi, deep fried chicken wings (Tebasaki), deep fried pork cutlet and Kishinev (flat wheat noodles) are all must try food. You can make a side trip from Nagoya to Shirakawago and Gokayama, Kiso Valley, Takayama, Gero Onsen and Inuyama.
