History cannot be forgotten, we must strengthen ourselves

In the 1960s and 1970s, due to the national strategic needs under the special historical background, a large-scale national defense, science and technology, industry and transportation infrastructure construction guided by the idea of war preparedness was carried out in the central and western regions of our country, known as the 'Third Line Construction'. In the deep mountains and dense forests of Daxie Village, Zhubu Town, Yuexi County, there stands such an old third-line military factory site 502 Grottoes, which was built and operated in 1971, code-named 502, covering an area of 3,000 square meters, with more than 40 rooms of various types, the cave wall can withstand a nine-level earthquake. It has a deep connection with General Xu Shiyou, a founding general, who personally chose the site, started the project in 1965, and was built and operated in 1971, under the jurisdiction of the National Defense Work Office.
