A park transformed from a river

Spanish Mediterranean Coast Tour ~ Valencia (Region) The Turia Gardens were created in the late 20th century after the catastrophic floods of 1957 when the river was diverted to a new artificial channel in the south of the city. . Designed by Catalan architect Ricardo Bofill, it has been described as "a work that exploits the symbolic power of certain rhythms and references Moorish gardens". The park is divided into several sections, each with its own character; thus, the first section features cycle paths and bicycle trails, as well as sports facilities including an athletics track and multi-purpose sports area, football fields, rugby fields, baseball fields and an ice rink, while other areas feature more traditional gardens.
